Abducted is Book 1 in my Alien Mate Index series. It is a plus-sized novel--140,000 words long
My name is Zoe McKinley. I have a boring life, an awful job, and a boss that throws staplers at my head. What could be worse?
How about being abducted by Aliens?
Being dragged through a mirror, naked and screaming, onto an extraterrestrial ship was bad. Finding out I had been sold to a huge alien male who looks like the Devil was worse. But learning he wanted to trade me to an intergalactic petting zoo was the worst of all!
Now I'm whizzing through the galaxy with a robot butler, a trio of nib-nibs (they're like tiny green monkeys) and one huge, muscular, and very grumpy alien. The clothing they gave me shows all my lady-bits, the food-sim makes banana cream pie that tastes like sauerkraut, and Sarden, my captor, is too hot to stay mad at, even if he is a jerk.
In fact, I think I might be falling for him.
What's a girl to do? It's all in a day's work when you've been... Abducted.
The Alien Mate Index--Learn more From the pen of Evangeline Anderson, the writer who brought you Brides of the Kindred, comes a new race of Alien warriors… twelve races, to be exact.
Everyone thinks that life just evolved on Earth — Wrong. Our planet, and twelve others, all capable of supporting Terran life, was seeded by the Ancient Ones. Then Earth was locked away, kept safe in the cocoon of our ozone layer. But now there’s a gaping hole in our security blanket and guess who’s coming to dinner? That’s right—the Alien warriors of the Twelve Peoples - also descended from the Ancient Ones, are looking for mates and Earth girls are their first choice.
The Vorn are feared throughout the galaxy. Savage, horned warriors, these males can be surprisingly gentle to the females they choose to bond with.
Denarins come in pairs—two muscular males who share a psychic bond... and feel the need to share one woman as well.
The Majorans worship their females as goddesses, the very color of their skin changing with their bonded mate’s mood.
Braxians are savage with black-on-white eyes that can see every spectrum of light. They will defend their females to the last drop of blood in their huge, blue bodies.
And there are more… so many more Alien warriors to pick from.
Which type of male would you choose? Too bad you won’t have a choice, because thanks to the Alien Mate Index, an agency that abducts Earth brides for alien males, you could be snatched at any time and turned into a massive warrior’s mate or concubine.
Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.
I listened to the Audible version of 'Abducted' and it was okay - nothing to write home about, but alright. I've only read a few alien/human romances. Not surprisingly, it was pretty unrealistic and cheesy. Really, I expected that.
What I didn't expect was that it would be such a tame read. I mean, once you involve an alien lover, you've kind of committed to a level of ridiculousness that makes me think there will be some super smutty stuff here. After all, it isn't like the author was going for serious and emotionally deep here.
Sadly, the love story and the sex scenes were rather lackluster. I'm feeling a little ripped off right now. Maybe I should have read one of those 'Ice Planet Barbarian' books that I keep seeing pop up on my feed. This one felt like a PG-13 after-school special.
I really expected some dark elements also, which were noticeably absent. Zoe, the heroine, is abducted from Earth by Sarden, the "badass" alien. He plans to trade her to another alien, in exchange for his sister. This other alien likes to collect females from all over outer space, keeping them in a habitat that mimics their home planet. Hmm... Sounds pretty kinky to me. Don't get your hopes up though -- it wasn't.
In the end, this ends up being an "okay" type of story. It was sweet at times and pretty tame. While it was decent in it's own way, it wasn't the dark erotica that I had hoped for.
Before I start talking about this specific book, I would like to declare myself a huge fan of the Brides of the Kindred series. Every time someone asks me for a suggestion on Sci-Fi Romance, this is the first series that I propose adding the fact that this is not just Romance but also Erotica. And it is not just smut for the smut’s sake!
Sooooooooooo, I was not really sure about this new series “Alien Mate Index” and about how much different this will be in comparison to the “Brides” since we are talking again for unwilling human brides and alien boys.
Well, my worries were only short-lived, because this is definitely a fresh series and it has a different way of looking at things. If I could just say one thing about this series and how much different it is from “Brides”, I would say that it is surely more complicated and a touch more sophisticated. The author does not hold back on world building. She does not hesitate to include terminologies and technology descriptions that fall mainly on the Sci-Fi part of the things and less on the Romance side.
This does not mean that the romance is lacking. On the contrary, it is enhanced as well since now we get to see how the alien boys think. There are two points of view on the book. Girl’s POV and boy’s POV. And yes, apparently and obviously alien boys have true feelings and can get hurt easily – no matter how much cocky bastards they are.
The book is sci-fi, erotic, funny, angsty and out of this world. If you love “Brides”; give it a chance :) If you don’t love “Brides”, but you love Sci-Fi romance; give it a chance :)
This was surprisingly funny! I didn't expect that at all. A lot of these books take themselves way too seriously and you want to say the book, "you know you're about a horny alien dude wanting to bang it out with a human chick...you're silly."Obviously, I like this often silly genre, but too many of them think they're writing hardcore literature. Back to this book, it was funny. Why? A lot of it was because of the heroine and her reactions to the alien guy.
Plot: Zoe is having a crap day at work because her BO blasting boss threw a stapler at her head. She's sitting in the ladies room whinging on the phone to her two BFF's when she's abducted! She wakes up on icy cold floor naked with a 7ft tall red skinned male with horns and vertical slit eyes peering at her. She screams in fear, I'd be screaming over the fact I was getting hypothermia on some private areas from their ice cold space ship floor. (You'd think they'd have central heating). She thinks he's the devil come to take her to hell, he's not, he's just bought her on the Alien Mate Index, which is like Sky Mall for human brides. She's now his property and he has plans for her.....
They end up on his spaceship journeying across space to other planets in order to fulfill Sarden (the red devil alien guy)'s plans. It's pretty funny the various escape attempts and hijinks that Zoe gets up to and Sarden has to "fix." I enjoyed her annoying him, which isn't always the case, but this book made it comical. Sarden isn't a passive alien guy and he enjoys annoying her right back.
As to the characters. Zoe is very determined, stubborn, and headstrong. She copes super well with the whole alien thing and her travels in space after learning that Sarden is not the devil come to take her to hell. haha. She's funny and comes with a tragic background.
Sarden is on a mission to acquire a human bride and trade her for something important. His mission doesn't allow for him to develop feelings for the mischievous human, even if he finds her super super hot. I liked how he was firm, but not mean when Zoe caused him problems. He never was abusive or vengeful about her actions. I also liked how he cared for her when she was vulnerable or in trouble. He was a good alien guy.
I think the ending was kind of cheesy and could've been more eventful, but overall this is a good 4 star book. I'm adding a star because it was funny and I think that's uncommon in books. At least I don't find many that make me laugh. Extra star for being amusing.
It seems that we have an abundance of horned hunks lately! I’ve found a gif of a much hunkier guy, but it was flagged and taken down… :(… )
This book is hilarious!!!
Zoe, is a hoot!!! She has some ideas that made me laugh out loud! She’s kidnapped by weird looking aliens and should be terrified. And she is, but her brain functions in a laugh-instead-of crying way.
The descriptions of aliens are incredible: we have a three tentacle eyed Bambi, a poo shaped centipedes, a lantern looking A.I. named Alfred by her… You get it? LMAOOO
Also her reactions are fun. Stupid, maybe, but still fun! I usually hate TSTL heroines, but here I laughed! Even when the situations were deadly!!! Incredible!!!
I loved the descriptions of food-generator!!! … what did you expect to come out of the pot full of green-goo?
The hero, Sarden, is the horned hunk (and you know how much I love by blue-horned barbarians!!!) with red skin and golden eyes! Yummy! But for all his trying to be a bad kidnapper, he comes out as a very sweet guy!
I thought, being this Ms. Anderson’s book, that here would be a ton of sex, but instead I found a ton of innuendos, some nude scenes, some licking for the purpose of healing, but not even a kiss until well over the half part of the book!!! And I loved that! I loved it very, very much!
Then the author dropped reference to my favorite TV series!!! And I was won!!!
Zoe is seeing herself as the Mother of Dragons!!!
… But then realized that she has these instead…
This is and is not a classic alien abduction romance. But you should read it as a parody comic movie, like the famous Airplane!, or The Naked Gun!
For all of us who read and love the Ice Planet Barbarians this book is a MUST!!!
I saw the first part of this book free on Amazon and when I read it just knew that I wanted to know more. I'm a fan of the authors Kindred series so was delighted to discover a new series with her trade mark hunky guys and rather more down to earth females and yes pun intended! So here are my thoughts. I liked Zoe, she's just a pretty normal sort, stuck in a job going nowhere , unappreciated by her boss , absolutely no love life and yet she has two really close friends who support her through thick and thin. So imagine her horror when a bathroom mirror does all kinds of funky things and she finds herself in space and at the not so tender mercies of aliens! Now I might try to run screaming at this point but not so Zoe! Ok there's a scary big red guy with horns for crying out loud but he doesn't seem to want to hurt Zoe but there's no way she's going to go quietly ! No it's time to get stealthy , lull Sarden into a false sense of security then pow! Knock that alien for six and find a way home . Yes it all seems easy in Zoe's head but you know what they say? In space no one can hear you scream! I'm loving the new life forms that we are discovering and admittedly Sarden looks demonic but he's anything but. Sarden is patient and more caring then he wants to appear at times but it's his loyalty and fierce need to protect that made him likeable to this reader. Zoe is sassy and had me laughing as she totally baffles Sarden, yes Zoe for me just came to life. Now those who enjoy raunchy sci fi might be surprised at just how much goes on here. The author gives a much longer story then many others I've read that has a simple plot that allows for adventures along the way. Whilst not exactly action packed, situations arise that put the main characters in danger but of course there's a happy ending which is always my favourite. Is it saucy? Well yes is my answer but frankly there's no instant bonking just a couple who learn to love and ultimately trust each other. This was an entertaining read clearly aimed at those who enjoy a sexy romp. At times really funny and so easy to just get lost in. If like me you read to escape then this new series might just be the one you need I was gifted a copy of this in exchange for an honest review
The following ratings are out of 5: Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙 Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💜 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔 World building: 🪐🛸🚀☄️🌒 Character development: 🤖👽🥰👽😌
The heroine:Zoe - works in a law office for a man she doesn’t like. One day while talking on the phone to her friends while in the office bathroom about the fact that her boss threw a stapler at her, she hears a noice in the handicapped stall. She checks it out and sees a red man with horns in the mirror. She is then sucked through the mirror like it is a portal to Hell.
The Hero(es):Sarden - a half-breed smuggler (half Vorn/half Eloim), who wants to trade Zoe with the evil Tazaxx to save his sister Sellah. He picks her from the AMI (Alien Mating Index). Sarden would be a lord if he were to claim his rightful place in society.
The Story: Zoe is called the “Pure One” by the beings that take her. She thinks she is in Hell, though it isn’t hot. There are creatures that look like demons and the red male with horns is sexy and huge. It isn’t long before she finds out that the Ancient ones seeded her planet eons ago and the lock (ozone layer) on Earth has been removed and investors are free to harvest the women of the planet. They are called ‘Pure Ones’ because they are pureblooded from the ancients.
I have been Hella into Alien romance lately. I have no idea why, maybe because I like the whole normal girl in an abnormal (or paranormal) world trope and most of these are exactly that. As much as I like the trope where the females crash land on a planet of barbarians, I like even more when the aliens are more technologically advanced than we are, plus the males wear pants which I think is much hotter than being naked or wearing a loin cloth all the time. This series looked interesting to me.
This book had some pretty cool alien technology as well. I have read many books that have different kinds of food processing technologies, though none so far have any kind of explanation of how they work and how the aliens can keep getting food from these gadgets without having to get groceries of any kind.
This book had an explanation of how it works. The ship has stores of the green nutrient slime that is what is used as the base of all the food and there are things that attach to the users head and the user just thinks about what they want to eat and how it tastes and the food sim creates it from the nutrient slime. It is supposed to come out looking, smelling and tasting exactly like what the user expects, that is if the simulator is programmed correctly.
The book is told in dual points of view with dual narration. Narrators Mackenzie Cartwright and William Martin who both did a great job. I liked the way that both of these narrators used different voices for the characters thoughts than for their speaking voices. It made it easier to tell thoughts from when they were actually speaking to someone. That is something that should be done more, since I often wonder if a character is thinking or actually talking to another person in an audiobook.
Overall this was a very well written alien romance. I don’t really like the fact that the main characters in this series are BBW. I know there are women of all sizes and they all deserve to find love, but I would rather my books not focus on the size of the woman or the amount of ‘curves’ she may or may not have. It just makes me picture a chubby woman and I get enough of that when I look in the mirror. Though I liked the storyline enough that I plan to listen to more of the series.
This was very average and extremely weird. I went in expecting a little more angst and drama, but it ended up being kind of boring, I had to force myself to pick this book up and finish it. And for an almost five hundred page book, not much of consequence or much interesting happened.
I love a strange plots and I have a high tolerance for bullshit, I buy easily into things as long as they’re written well and are detailed enough that they feel like an alternative reality. But even I had a hard time buying into this shit.
This book was all over the place, you had a hundred different alien species that were introduced so quick that you had no chance of remembering them, you had species that could and couldn’t mix and then you had half-breeds. Then there was the fact that humans were a pure off breed of these special aliens.
The weirdest thing had to be Doloroso's weird breed of technology and alien? To be completely honest, I still have no idea what the actual fuck he was. By this point I was over the entire book, and with this character suddenly shedding a human skin suit I knew this book was making shit up as it went along.
There were kidnappings and murder plots, and yet I still found the entire story boring and nothing was linked well. I had no connection to the characters and the so called ’emotional romance angst’ was so BORING.
Overall I found this to be a rather meh read, definitely won’t be picking up the continuations in the series.
A little over the top at times and you have to wait a long time for the poking, but all the different aliens, creatures and settings are well worth it. There are so many possibilities surronding the universe created here.
So welcome to the world of Alien Mate Index!! When Zoe was having a shitty day at work and having stapler thrown on her by a douche-bag boss, she never expects that confessing her sins in the lavatory would lead to kidnapping by an alien species! She is taken by Sarden, a half Vorn/half Eloim, who wants to trade her with the evil Tazaxx to save his sister Sellah. What follows is an adventure and fun filled journey and how they ultimately rescue and fall for one another. Scenes worth mentioning, -The concept of La-ti-zal, or the pure one -Them trying out the food commander to those weird look vs tasting dishes -Him being a literal red alien who's horns grow on rubbing (total IAD reference..hello Cadeon!) -The whole episode with the adorable nib nibs -Sarden paying a thousand alien bucks to get a scent which smells like Zoe *sigh* -All the sucking and healing -How the species can see colors once they mate (total Carpathians recall) -The bonding I absolutely love how the heroine was literally worshiped by the hero and her people, and the appreciation he had for her was adorable. This book was funny (esp the heroine's self monologues) with various laugh out loud moments! Really loved the throne taking scenes in the end. This book has just one "sex" scene (but various other naughty scenes), but it is so engaging and well written, it will keep you entertained. I only wish that (just like other EA books), we get less mention and reminisce of the ex, in this case Scott. I don't care how he did stuff Zoe! Cant wait to read about Grav, Leah, Charlotte. This book seemed like a perfect combination of the Trek-Mi-Qan series as well as Cyborg Seduction/Zorn warriors mixed with Brides of the Kindred, but way more likable and funnier. Safe 4.5/5
For those that like the kindred series this will probably be another winner. There was a short plus-sized heroine, a huge hunky alien hero to likes to lick and heal with his tongue..... A group of female friends, defenceless little sisters, big baddies.... It is Kindred with another coat. Different alien species, different names/colours anyway, (some who are aggressive, some who like to share) who can 'bond' with human girls, girls who happen to have unknown special powers. If you can suspend disbelief that a girl who is kidnapped and is told she's going to be sold into slavery for the rest of her life would come up with the ultimate insult of 'big red jerk' for the perpetrator of this crime, read on. Zoe really is too stupid to have made it to adulthood, let alone be a paralegal. There are pop culture references, 'funny food' and a heroine (although sexually experienced) who is horribly embarrassed by all things sexual and is forced to 'ask' the hero to commit sexual acts on her in the guise of being 'healed'. She also doesn't like anyone seeing her 'ta'ta's'. She is described as her head barely reaching his elbow. Kissing during missionary position sex must have been....bendy. It wasn't mention that he has a double jointed spine. Ms Anderson has a definite formula, if you like it, this fits the bill, but it was a step too far down the yellow brick road for me.
Sci-fi alien romances can be quite tricky to pull off. This one however, was such a delight to read.
The descriptions of the world/planets was so very well thought of and the fact that the story ACTUALLY had a storyline (normally I find sci-fi romances to be just about bonding with a crazy amount of insta love ) but this was NOT the case here.
I really loved Sarden. His loyalty, his struggle with being a half breed, but his food was gross! Zoe was really perky too. Likeable, but I didn’t “love love “ her. I did find her quite interesting!
Read: 13/04/2018 1st rating: 5 Stars Genre/sub-genres: Alien romance/ abduction Cover: 5 stars - it’s damn cool, is what it is! POV: Dual (Sarden & Zoe) Will I recommend: Yes! I liked it so much I ordered book 2&3, so it must have made quite the impact!!
Had potential, could have been done better. Really had an interesting plot line going if it was well portrayed. Just too many plot holes and stupid characters.
Very good syfy romance. This book was actually very funny most of the time. Both main characters are good. Sarden is a sweetheart. Even though he kidnapped Zoe, he did it with (fairly) good reason and he was always an honorable guy. Zoe is a cool girl. A bit... zaney and impulsive. She had a few TSTL moments, but overall, I liked her. I enjoyed this book a lot. It was mostly funny, a little action, somewhat intense at times and a slow burn romance. I will definitely continue the series. Happy reading!!
-The (not so) skinny: the creator of the Kindred series has come up with a slightly different twist on an old theme. Due to human’s creating a hole in the ozone layer, the Earth has been “unlocked” to the rest of the galaxy and now aliens are cruising their version of grindr looking for mates. Sarden, the big red devil looking hero, finds Zoe, our BBW heroine while checking out the index, but his motives for searching for a human are decidedly unromantic. He’s trying to save his sister from the big bad, and hoping to tempt said big bad to add Zoe as a new exhibit in his unusual yet twisted, alien creature zoo.
-Amazingly detailed: Ms. Anderson has taken some time to flesh out this ‘verse, which makes exploring it interesting. The story is told in dual POV, and both Zoe and Sarden have some humorous moments as they learn more about each other's worlds.
-The sexytimes? I’ll admit I was surprised that at the way the buildup played out, as the sexual situations are...let's say interesting and some are tied to his alien talents, ahem. *blinks* I will say I did appreciate that some time is taken before they consummate their relationship, and that allowed me to enjoy the worldbuilding as well as the romance.
-Curvalicious heroines are my fave: Zoe’s a BBW, which I'll admit I'm drawn to more often than not, but I liked that the story isn't solely about her size or her insecurities, and they never overwhelmed the narrative. And yes, I enjoyed the fact that she's treasured and found very attractive precisely because of her bountiful curves. However...
-Zoe and Sarden are occasionally dumb bunnies: which drives the action, even if it's frustrating to deal with some crazy choices by them. It was dramatic and fun in its own way, though and the kind of crackilicious read I expect from an alien romance.
Cracky fun, I enjoyed this read. There’s a good mix of action and world-building, with enough twists and turns, especially towards the end, that kept me entertained throughout. I pre-ordered the next, so kudos Ms. Anderson - you got me hooked.
*ARC received from the author, in exchange for an honest review*
I was so excited to start a new series from this author. In this book, I was introduced to new alien races and became untrustworthy of mirrors, since the aliens can transport and abduct you through any surface with a reflection. Sarden had Zoe abducted, but had a really good reason, so I forgave him from the start. Being 7 ft tall and built didn't hurt either. Zoe was brave in the face of what was happening to her, but sometimes that bravery got her in bad situaions. I wish there was more sex, but the scenes they did have were hot, even if Zoe and Sarden were sometimes interrupted. There was a fair amount of action between a psycho wanting Zoe for himself and Sarden trying to save his sister from being auctioned off. I can't wait for the next part of this series.
Zoe McKinley is just minding her own business, complaining in the bathroom to her friends about her boss, when she is abducted. Waking up to find aliens really do exist has Zoe wondering if she lost her mind but the man who abducted her, Sarden makes her wondering if she is in hell instead. His resemblance to the devil isn't just the looks, his gruff behavior and insistence she will be traded to another alien has her hot under her color. Problem is Sarden didn't expect to want Zoe for himself and he needs the trade to protect his sister...what is an alien to do?
This was a lot of fun. I loved how Zoe woke up and Sarden isn't quite sure what to do with her. This had so many creative ideas on the descriptions of alien life. Full of humor, wonderful read.
This was a pretty enjoyable story overall. I liked the story and characters but there were certain things in the story that (for me at least) kept the rating at 3 stars instead of 4.
Zoe is an Earth woman that's BBW. She's got a job that she's not too happy about, especially because her boss is a jerk that only has his position because his family owns the company. Zoe hasn't had a boyfriend in a year and the best part of her life is her 2 BFFs.
Sarden is an alien that should have been in line for the throne of his home world. He is of mixed blood though and he's looked down on because of that. When the time came for his planet to chose new rulers, Sarden stepped aside so his sister and cousin could take the throne. Unfortunately, Sarden's sister was kidnapped and Sarden is trying desperately to get her back.
Sarden found out that a "collector" of rare females has his sister. Apparently this guy doesn't do anything sexual to them but likes having them in a "zoo" type setup. Earth is a planet that was seeded with life by some ancient alien race but to keep the Earth people safe from the rest of the universe, they put a protection in place (and we get an "Earth Day" type lecture because apparently the shield around Earth is the Ozone layer and when holes appeared in it, the aliens got access to our planet). Now that Earth can be accessed, an alien race has settled over Earth and started charging other aliens to get women off the surface. Sarden is looking for a rare female that will tempt his sister's captor to release his sister in a trade and settles on Zoe. Poor Zoe is pulled through a mirror in her bathroom at work and finds herself in an alien spaceship, being "bought" by a big guy that looks like the devil.
Sarden is kind of a jerk towards Zoe at first but considering his plans for her, he did it to keep from getting too close. When Sarden finally lets his guard down he finds that he likes Zoe a lot and it makes his task of trading her for his sister even more difficult. Zoe's character was a weird combination of being sassy and being way too accepting of her captivity. While I understand that at some points she had her reasons for trying to be nice to Sarden, there were definitely times when my mouth dropped open in shock that she'd let him get away with that crap. Zoe wasn't overly annoying or TSTL for the most part but there were time when she got close. But she also had her good points as well, especially as the story got further along. The relationship between Sarden and Zoe is variable throughout the story and since they wont talk about their feelings, I was wondering how in the heck they'd end up together. They do manage to figure things out though and end the story starting a HEA together.
This was a pretty enjoyable story. I was a bit iffy on Zoe at first...I liked her but she also annoyed and confused me at times...but by the end, I found that I liked her pretty well. Sarden was a good hero. He was kind of a jerk at times but that was just when he was trying to be Zoe's captor in order to save his sister. Outside of that situation, Sarden seemed like a good guy and hero. The story was pretty good and I liked the premise so I'm thinking I might try the next book in the series and see if I like it. :)
* note - I listened to the audio version of this story. There were 2 narrators, a female for the parts from Zoe's PoV and a male for the parts from Sarden's PoV. Both did fine at the narration. I will say that while I liked the male narrator's voice, it wasn't very deep and the story indicated that Sarden's voice was deep so I kind of wished they'd have found a male narrator with a deeper voice (but it didn't really mess with the story so don't let it dissuade you from buying the audio).
Abducted is book one in the Alien Mate Index sereis by Evangeline Anderson.
The people of Earth don’t know about aliens or that they are being evaluated to be brides.
Zoe is like any human. She doesn’t feel she’s special. She’s got a job she hates, a boss from hell, and fun is lacking in her life.
The story is told in dual POV and I enjoyed this aspect. Zoe is fun, funny, sassy and fresh. She has a penchant for finding herself in situations and needing rescuing. The situations aren’t too ridiculous. Sarden is a sweety, likable, noble, and has a heart of gold. I adored him.
What follows is a fun adventure and a nice start to the sereis. Theirs not as much sex as some of Anderson’s other work and the build-up is long before they hit the sheets. We’re treated to a lot of laughs, angst, decent world building, fun moments and hawt sex.
The only thing that nocked this down a bit is that their are a lot of different plots going on and it felt a bit much for an Alien Sci-Fi Romance.
Abducted was an enjoyable read. I’m looking forward to reading on.
1.5 stars. I really wanted to like this book because I like the Kindred books . However I just couldn't. I am not going into details but my biggest problems were this : First the main female character is a para legal so she should be intelligent and smart however she is a moron. All through this book she acts idiotic and that drove me insane. What is one of the first things that your parents teach you? Don't talk to strangers , don't take anything from strangers , don't go anywhere with strangers and what does our heroine do - just about everything. Sorry but I just couldn't stand her. Second thing is one of the villains. He is the epitome of all bad writen villains. From the first moment you meet him you know he is a bad guy and you know he is going to be there for long just like four in the kindred series. There are other things wrong with this book but if this two doesn't make you stop I don't think the others will. I do hope the next one is better.
A promising start to a new series with lots of cool and freaky aliens.
Zoe is kind of hilarious. When she gets abducted and sold to Sarden, she thinks he's the devil. In reality, he's a half-breed with a big heart who's trying to save his sister.
All in all, I liked it although it dragged a little in some sections. As is common with any Evangeline Anderson book, the sex takes forever to happen and there's lots of build-up. There's a step-wise progression starting with a kiss...ending with the big event.
I'll for sure read the second book. Grav really intrigued me.
I wasn't planning on reading this book because I'm still in the middle of the Brides of the Kindred series, and I don't like starting new series so much. But then I saw that someone I follow reread it, and since it's on Kindle Unlimited, I thought I'd check it out.
At first, I didn't like this book as much as the Kindred books, but then Zoe & Sarden's space adventure started to grow on me. I'm pretty sure I laughed out loud several times. There were only a few similarities to the Kindred: a female goddess, males who love to eat out their women, a race of alien men who worship women, and how a guy can heal his mate with compounds in his saliva. Oh, also the clothing synthesizer. I loved Alfred, the artificial life form Sarden had on his ship. The nib-nibs, a monkey-like animal, were also pretty cute, though I would have loved to hear what they were saying.
Sarden abducts Zoe from Earth to trade her for his sister, who has been captured by this collector of females. He keeps these females in cages (like a zoo) and has an auction to sell them off.
I liked the ending. The villain is quite interesting & will return for the next book, which I plan to read. He's Artificial Intelligence who wants to impregnate a woman to form a new species to take over the world (reminds me of the Hive from the Kindred books). Zoe reminded me a lot of Kate from the Kindred series too.
CAPTIVATING, SEXY AND DIVINELY ENTERTAINING !!! Title: Abducted Series: Alien Mate Index Author: Evangeline Anderson Designation: Book One of Series, Full-Length Standalone Novel, NO CLiffhanger Reading Platform: Kindle Edition My Rating: FIVE DIVINELY ENTERTAINING STARS***** Wow! There's just no other way to start this review so I'll say it again - WOW! I love, love, love this book. Evangeline Anderson has wowed her readers with Abducted, the riveting first release in her new Alien Mate Index Series and she totally rocked my world - again! Oops...said it again but I just can't help myself. What can I say, she wowed me. Sorry, I couldn't resist. But in all honesty, I think I've died and gone to alien heaven.... populated, of course with twelve alien races from the incredibly imaginative mind of Evangeline Anderson. And folks, it just doesn't get any better than this in the science fiction romance genre! My taste in books is very eclectic. There isn't much I don't enjoy reading but I truly love romance, adore science fiction and will totally devour anything with action and adventure. When I can find each of those elements in one story, well, I'm in heaven! And that's exactly what Evangeline Anderson did in Abducted. It had everything you could ever want in a great story including lots of heart-pounding danger, gut-wrenching drama, laugh out loud humor as well as sultry passion and sinfully delicious sex. But I digress, let's talk about Abducted.
Abducted is a fast paced, well crafted, exceptionally imaginative and totally unique, full length standalone science fiction saga filled to the brim with hot as hades space aliens, action, adventure, danger, drama, suspense, passion, romance, angst, steamy dreamy sex, hot as hades space aliens and some of the most nefarious villains I've ever encountered - in any genre. Yes, yes, I know I said hot space aliens twice, but what can I say? They were hot! The narrative is beautifully written in the first person with clearly defined his and her perspectives from the two protagonists, beautiful, curvaceous and very human paralegal Zoe McKinley, and hunky, horned, red-skin, half Vorn-half Eloim, hybrid alien warrior, Lord Sarden de Lagorn. That's right...he has red skin, horns growing from either side of his forehead just above his temples, and he's devilishly handsome. What? Hmm....sound like someone you may know....like maybe the Devil??? I fell head over heels for both the hero and heroine of this story which came as quite a surprise since Sarden started the story as kinda, sorta, a bad guy but we soon discover the reason for his actions. And the big guy really grows on you! I quickly came to admire him for his valor as well as his love and loyalty to his sister. And Zoe was an absolute delight. She was so courageous, smart, sassy and spunky but also very pragmatic which I really liked a lot. She was a total believer in the philosophy of not crying over spilled milk, work with what you have and just try your hardest to do something about your situation. She was no crybaby and she didn't whine. Unfortunately, her philosophy and her efforts always seemed to get her into more trouble. She was totally awesome! These two characters played off each other brilliantly and the interaction between them was off the charts hot! And the other characters are simply magnificent. I even loved the villains! All the characters were fascinating, captivating, engaging, sexy and at times, laugh at loud funny. The dialogue is intelligent, realistic, well executed and flowed effortlessly. And for you loyal sci-fi genre fans, the narrative and dialogue are full of references and nods to popular science fiction/fantasy works, past and present. I loved it! Anderson is an exceptionally gifted storyteller with a boundless imagination. She excels at creating richly depicted worlds with vivid and beautifully detailed descriptions, populates them with unique, intriguing characters who literally explode from the pages and steal your heart, then enhances her creation with futuristic technology and jargon that is sure to titillate the minds of even the most hardcore sci-fi geeks. Anderson skillfully combines every single one of these elements to craft a delightfully entertaining science fiction romance that is sure to make your heart pound and leave you breathless. When Evangeline Anderson puts pen to paper, the result is nothing short of magical which is pretty darn special since this is science fiction, not supernatural. But my point is this, if you’re a science fiction/alien romance fan, then the Alien Mate Index is one super special series you don’t want to miss!
Zoe McKinley hasn’t had an easy life and no matter how hard she's tried, she's never been anything other than just plain boringly ordinary. She didn't make the cheerleading squad in high school because she wasn’t one of the popular girls. She didn’t get into the college she wanted because her grades weren’t up to par. She didn’t get to date Ken Forthright from sociology class because he sat next to a leggy blonde named Krissy who received all his attention. She didn’t get the job she wanted at the really nice law firm downtown because her resume wasn’t good enough and had to settle for a job working as a paralegal at Lauder, Lauder and Associates for an unappreciative boss who didn’t even know the meaning of the words personal hygiene. She’s lost everyone she loves with the exception of her two best friends, Leah and Charlotte. And sadly, she hasn't had sex in a year, since she ended things with her not so attentive boyfriend Scott who held the record for being the world’s fastest lover and whose vocabulary didn’t even include the word foreplay. Seriously, her life just couldn’t get any worse…..until it does. Her not so nice boss throws a stapler at her head and Zoe retreats to the ladies bathroom to lick her wounds and call her two besties to share her tale of woe. Well, that’s when she’s interrupted by a scene straight out of Alice in Wonderland. Yup, she’s sucked (or I could be formal and say transported) from her boring hum-drum existence right through the mirror of the ladies room at Lauder, Lauder and Associates. Apparently, she's been abducted by some creepy looking aliens who operate the Alien Mate Index . Zoe has just been selected and purchased by Lord Sarden de Lagorn, a very large red skin, half Vorn - half Eliom alien hybrid with horns growing from each side of his head. And yes, I said freaking horns! And did I mention he was red? Okay I did, but did I mention he had glowing eyes like the devil. Oh my! Surely, her life couldn’t get any worse….until it does….again! Geez, now her life gets interesting. She finally becomes the one thing she’s wanted her entire life – special. Yup, that’s right. Zoe is a Pure One and not only that, she’s a Lat-ti-zal, one who has been especially gifted by the Ancient Ones, the alien race who seeded Earth and the other planets of the twelve chosen races. That’s just awesome and all she had to do was get abducted by aliens! What’s a girl to do? Well, she could start by falling in love with the alien who purchased her, you know, the one who intends to sell her to another alien as a zoo exhibit so he can buy back his younger sister who has also been kidnapped. Oh my! It’s a divinely entertaining story filled with danger, drama, action, adventure, suspense, humor, romance and some steamy dreamy sex. And one you will surely enjoy reading! Buckle up my lovelies, it’s a wild ride!
When reviewing and rating a book, there are several questions I always ask myself. First, would I recommend this book? You bet and I am but only for adult readers. Second, was I entertained? Oh lawd, yes! I was completely entertained. Once I started reading, I simply could not stop. The pages flew as did the time with the hours passing seemingly as minutes with my heart beating wildly in my chest. I laughed, I cried and several times, I even shook my fists in anger over the injustice suffered by the hero and heroine. But by the end, I was well pleased, satisfied and entertained. And finally, will I read this author again? Absolutely, just as soon as she releases her next book! Bring on Book Two Evangeline Anderson. You keep writing them and we'll keep reading them! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Evangeline Anderson is one of my original 4 favorite authors in the fantasy/paranormal game and unfortunately, the only one who I'll read any more from despite having to drop the Kindred series a while back because I just couldn't keep up with all the characters. While I didn't think this book was great or even very entertaining, it was a good start and I'm hoping that future books will just keep getting better. I read this over a month ago so this is what I recall liking and disliking...
Like: -the characterization was pretty well done and the Dude was more developed than most that I have read lately. -world building was pretty good. Looks like we have a "realistic" universe in this series that has lots of opportunity for exploration. - the connection between the characters was decent- not too quick
Dislike: -why was the boss always throwing his stapler at the Chick and why did the author keep referring to it so many times? It seemed to be her major reason for not needing to return to earth and it was just so fucking stupid. Why couldn't she pick something more realistic? harping on her spreadsheets or even foul body odor...picking his nose...something that was just more realistic. What, was the stapler throwing on an episode of "the Office" or something? And because it was brought up so much by the Chick, it constantly annoyed me. -the book just wasn't quite that entertaining. I could have easily put it down if I had a better book waiting for me. Hopefully, the other books will grab my attention more
Overall: It was just okay for me but I am staying positive that future books will be a bit more interesting now that most of the world building has already been done.
Abduction is the story of Zoe, who finds herself abducted from earth and placed naked on a spaceship with a man who looks like he could be the devil. Red skin and horns means Zoe is wary of Sarden at first, as well as needing to take in the new world she finds herself trapped in. Her future looks bleak and scary, but I loved the strength she showed when she decided to give up her future for the chance of Sarden being able to save his sister. This book is a long one, which means there is a slow progression of Zoe and Sarden establishing a connection and falling in love. The world building was fantastic and the set up for the second book makes me excited to continue on with this series. A must read for fans of Anderson’s previous work and sci-fi romance fans.
This alien romance tale is a hard one to rate as it was a bit of a mixed bag. I nearly pulled the plug on it a few times in the early stages but I persevered as I did like some aspects of the tale. I was rewarded for my perseverance by having this development in a positive direction over the course of the story. I enjoyed the story more as it went along. Either it got better or I just got used to the stuff that had me cringing hard in the early stages due to repeated exposure!
The premise was pretty fun. Aliens have just declared open season on planet Earth after it was previously on the protected list. Zoe McKinley is the unlucky first victim! She gets abducted by aliens intent on enslaving her. The alien in this case was Sarden, a giant 7ft alien that looked like a humanoid devil. He planned haul Zoe halfway across the galaxy to sell her to a rich exotic collector.
The premise was ridiculous but that was fine for me as I love ridiculous romcoms and this one definitely leaned into the absurdity and did not take itself seriously at all. The worldbuilding and characters were simplistic but interesting enough to work for the story. All in all we got a decent mix of romance, comedy, erotica, and sci-fi adventure.
Zoe and Sarden were both pretty weird but they were likeable enough and got easier to root for as a pairing as the story progressed.
There was some cringey moments in this tale, for sure, but as long as you can laugh or roll your eyes at them you will got by fine with the story. The aliens in this tale were a lot kinkier than your average Star Trek alien! Some of the humour of the story worked for me and some did not. Which was likely half the reason this was such a mixed bag of a story.
All in all this was an OK read. Definitely had some big flaws but I liked it more as it went so I’ll probably press on with the next book since it features a secondary character we have already met in this one.
Rating: 3 stars.
Audio Note: The bulk of the story was narrated by Mackenzie Cartwright who did the Zoe POV but we also had Willian Martin doing the Sarden POV chapters. I quite enjoyed Cartwright’s narration. She seemed to get the tone of the story and was decent with the voices. Martin got the tone of the story and was an OK narrator outside of the fact he really struggled with the female voices. The big flaw was the transition between the two narrators was not particularly smooth so it was jarring at times. It would have been better if they just had Martin handle all the male dialogue and left Cartwright to do everything else. Feels like a botch on the production side not to properly utilise the duel narrators!
I have been waiting with excitement to read another Evangeline Anderson Series… she has some really big shoes to fill after The Kindred Series… no worries…she has done it again. Prepare to fall in love with a new breed of Alien.
Who knew that the hottest brides in the universe come from earth? That AI’s really exist and sexy aliens are looking for the Pure One that will complete them. (Even if they don’t know it at first)
Abducted The Mate Index Book 1 is a treat for everyone who loves science fiction, a spunky heroin and hot, sexy aliens …with horns… did I mention that the Hero has horns? Oh and he’s red…and umm sort of devilish looking…
You are in for a sexy romp through space… there is a clever AI named Alfred… funny alien monkey things…and an evil bad guy that is just asking to be blasted….
Our heroin, Zoe, is a hard working paralegal working for a really smelly, loud, bad tempered boss… she knows that she needs a new job, a better life, but it’s hard out there and at least she has her best friends to help her through getting a stapler thrown at her head.
Little does she guess that she will get her wish when she is sucked into space (be very careful of all shiny objects. You never know who or what might be on the other side looking at you) and comes face to face with real aliens.
Zoe has been purchased by one bad-ass red Alien who will stop at nothing to save his sister… even giving one sexy, plus-sized Earth woman to the evil creature that holds his sweet sister captive…
Sarden is 7 feet of hunky muscles and he is on a mission to save his sister from a monster… Did I mention that he has horns? Very sexy horns? Zoe thinks she is looking at the devil and wondering if she will ever go home again. She decides to get close to him and make him like her...lol she gets into all kinds of trouble and is soundly punished…lucky girl!
You will laugh out loud when Zoe meets her first alien toilet… and experiences other worlds and wonders.
Wonderfully written, realistic, and filled with hot aliens, lots of really hot sex… and umm really hot sex… You will fall in love with Lord Sarden de Lagorn, I did… and you will cheer Zoe on as she faces her new reality with courage, spirit, and determination.
I cannot recommend this book enough. It is more than five stars… it is infinite….
I received this for a honest review. Just love Evangeline Anderson’s books. I can already tell this is going to be a great series.
Zoe is having a bad day. She works at a paralegal at Lauder, Lauder, and Associates and unfortunately she has to work with Dayton Lauder the third. He was truly a jerk. She finds herself in the bathroom telling her friends what the jerk of a boss has done. She never dreamed that she would find herself abducted.
I just about died laughing at Zoe and Sarden’s meet. He looked like the devil himself. His skin was red and he had horns, but god was he good-looking. We truly get to see Zoe’s strength in this story. She is not only strong in character but is this beautiful curvy woman. This does not go unnoticed by Sarden.
Zoe is a fighter and she will do what ever it takes to get back to earth. It seems no matter how much she tries to connect with Sarden it just is not working. He has plan selling her. She knows there has to be more then meets the eye.
I love Evangeline’s creativity. If you have ever read any of her Kindred Bride series then you already know how creative she can be. Well in this book she shows the same amazing creativity. I bet this is why she loves writing these types of books, because she has no limits on how far her creativity can go.
There seems to be a lot of sexually attention between Zoe and Sarden. They come so close but Sarden will not cross the line. It is important that he sells Zoe and reading the story you understand why he feels this way.
