This is just a very short bit to introduce you to the world of 4001AD. And I have to say it sold the comic to me quite well. It talks about New Japan and how it has all kinds of different sectors which reinact many different eras of mankind, from the Dinosaur age to the Western, to the early 19th century. Rai was the Guardian of New Japan, created by Father to protect and serve him and New Japan. But Rai was exiled for daring to defy Father, and now he lives on the planets surface, plotting his revenge.
Divinity II
Russia, out to beat the USA in space exploration sends a 3 man space probe to a nearby planet. In hibernation for years before landing on a new planet. It is up to them to claim this world in the name of Mother Russia.
A&A: The Adventures of Archer & Armstrong
This appears to be a super hero comic, an older super hero who doesn’t seem to age is out to repay his mistakes to his friend. However before he can, he is attacked by 3 lizard like things. So he climbs into his magical bag to escape, but now he is lost and it’s up to his sidekick to beat the lizards and find him in his bag.
Faith: Hollywood & Vine
A super hero is supposed to save lives right? Supposed to rescue puppies and kittens stuck in wells. Supposed to prevent bad things from happening to people and getting people killed. Well that isn’t what always happens. Sometimes the bad guys win and people get hurt. Sometimes super heroes are just human after all.
I found all the comics in this preview book to be pretty good at what they were supposed to do. They got me intrigued and interested in what is going to happen to the characters to the point that I probably would read most of them if I could get my hands on them. The one that I particularly liked the most was 4001AD.
Overall each one had pretty good graphics that fit the style of the comic that was being portrayed and the writing while pretty basic in all of them wasn’t campy or cheesy.
Besides not having more than 3 pages of one story (yes I know this is just a demo but still...) none of the stories really caught my attention except for the first one which is the 2 star rating.
