Murder at the Barbecue

Rate this book
Veronica has been hired to cater a neighborhood party in an upscale cul-de-sac on Delta Avenue. When she arrives she gets to know the neighbors a little, but not before one of them, Leo Amato, is found dead. It would appear he's been stabbed to death!

Veronica, Detective Max Bernard, and her best friend Sakura team up once again to work on the case. One scrap of evidence found on the body is a portion of a torn photograph. Veronica soon realizes that if they want to solve this mystery they need the rest of the pieces to complete the picture.

Apparently several people have a motive for killing Leo, and each member of every family conveniently seems to have an alibi. Even the video cameras set up around the neighborhood don’t help solve the case!

The team eventually learns that Leo was the one who took the picture, but what was he photographing? Who or what was behind his death? And how is this photograph the center of it all? Is there more than just what the picture shows? There must be....

Murder at the Barbecue is book two in the Rare Catch series by Liz Turner. Veronica, hired to organise food for a street party at a wealthy part of town on arrival, became involved again in a Murder investigation with Detective Max Bernard and her friend Sakura. The evidence they found near the body of Leo Amato made Veronica realise they needed more information. The readers of Murder at the Barbecue will continue to follow Veronica, Detective Max Bernard and Sakura to find out what happens.

Murder at the Barbecue is an enjoyable cozy mystery that you can read while having a lovely cup of tea. I had no trouble engaging with the story or the characters of Murder at the Barbecue. I love Liz Turner's portrayal of the characters of Murder at the Barbecue and how they intertwine throughout this book. Murder at the Barbecue is well written and researched by Liz Turner. I like Liz Turner's description of the settings of Murder at the Barbecue that complimented the book's plot.

The readers of Murder at the Barbecue will learn about what it takes to run a small catering business. Also, the readers of Murder at the Barbecue will understand the consequences of keeping secrets.

I recommend this book.

Kept me guessing

I thought I had this one figured out but I was wrong. As Veronica is on a catering job a body is found and her and best friend have to help detective Max figure out who the killer is.

Chef Veronica has been commissioned to cater a barbecue in the neighborhood. New neighbors had moved in, and it was the intent of the neighbors to welcome them to their cul-de-sac. Just as the appetizers were being served, the kids discovered one of their neighbors lying in the bushes. He had apparently been stabbed the evening prior to the event. Always quick to the phone, Chef Veronica makes a call to 911 and then to Detective Bernard who comes right over. Together they meet with the individual families and piece together what happened. This is a quick entertaining read.

Great story

This one had a pretty big twist. At first I didn't see it but it did become clear before it was revealed. Can't wait for book 3.

This was an enjoyable cozy mystery, in a no frills sort of way. I received this book for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. I gave it a 4* rating. I like the heroine, who seems to like to solve mysteries but slow on the uptake in the romance department. She also has a puppy who seems to be in the middle of the investigations. This was pretty lighthearted as far as murder mysteries goes.
