I love these little cozy mysteries by Mary Devlin Lynch and Debbie Devlin Zook, and I've really grown fond of Miranda Hathaway, even more so than in the first book.
On this little mystery investigation, Miranda's daughter (Zoey) calls and asks her mom to drop everything and come help her with something. When Miranda arrives, she's greeted by Michael, Zoey's boyfriend. They tell her that Michael's sister, Olivia, has been missing a few days and he's concerned she's in trouble, so they ask for Miranda's help. Of course, Gabe just happens to live in the area too. I don't want to say much to spoil the plot, but this one involves Miranda getting
This second book in the Miranda Hathaway series mentions quite a few things from book 1, assuming to help readers that didn't read book 1 to know who the various people and their connections are. It's helpful, but at times I think perhaps unnecessary for readers of book 1.
Overall I liked the mystery and that it took us down a different path than book 1.
Fun to continue reading the adventures of the quilting guild. A lot of recalls to the first novel, easily making this an independent read while still knowing the back story of the characters. On to the next adventure for me!
Enjoyed the fast pace of the book. Liked how it into Bed so of the characters from the previous book. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a nonviolent mystery. Will definitely read all the books in the series.
The typical tale of a widow with a good.looking boyfriend who has a spoiled daughter where luxuries are no problem. I couldn't even finish because it was so ridiculous. I am not interested in this series.
I love the close friendships these stories bring out with the characters. Very well written. Good story plot. Did not see that twist in the plot coming.
* I received this book free though the FirstReads program. This will not influence my honest review.*
I would like to point out that 2 stars is not a bad review, it means "it was ok". This is not a bad book and it was well edited(not as common as it should be in indies). So there was none of that distraction from the story that can be had from constant mistakes in self pub books. It just wasn't quite my type of book. It is a clean, easily readable, cozy. If you like clean cozies you'd probably find this book at least three stars. It just didn't have the suspense(or mystery) I look for in mysteries.
I would like to thank Goodreads, DevlinsBooks and the authors for sending me this book to read and review. I truly enjoyed this book not only for the plot but because of the details . In the second chapter I developed a connection with Lucy (I too have a MSIS from SLIS). Then there was the Franco Harris, Pirates and Steeler references....How come no Pens?? Though I no longer quilt I understand the connection one develops with fabric for me it is fiber. Oh and I have cats also. All of this helped me connect even more to the story , I would have enjoyed it regardless. It is a great summer read
Loved the first in this series and was tickled to read the next one. Not as "quilty" as the first one, but worth curling up with on a rainy evening. Here's hoping there will be a third one soon.
