I was known for a time as Hugh MacLeod. I was only sixteen when I joined the glorious cause that ended not only Prince Charles’ bid for the Scottish throne on the bloody field of Culloden, but my life and secrets as well. Too young to enlist, I followed my older brothers into the Glengarry Regiment, hiding from them until I faced the English and `twas too late to turn back. Though I’d prefer my boon to be a chance to deflate the Duke of Cumberland’s arrogance for what he did to my family after the war, I will settle for a few moments with the prince.
Amazon best-selling author Cathy MacRae enjoys weaving tales of romance in the Highland mists. Her stories feature strong heroes and feisty heroines in pursuit of their happy-ever-afters in medieval Scotland.
When not writing, Cathy can be found curled up in a chair with a book or enjoying the outdoors with a German Shepherd or two. She is currently working on another Highland romance novel and planning her next trip to Scotland.
I was known as Hugh MacLeod for a time. Can you believe I was only 16 when I joined that glorious cause that not only ended Prince Charles' bid for the Scottish throne on the bloddy battle field of Culloden, but my life and secrets as well? I was too young to enlist so I followed my brothers on what I thought would be a grand adventure into the Glengarry Regiment, hiding from them until I faced the English, but by then it was too late to turn back. The horrors I saw are something that no one should have ever had to see. What I really want my boon to be is a chance to deflate the Duke of Cumberland's arrogance for what he did to my family after the war however I will settle for a few minutes with the Prince.
Once again I am amazed at the tale that Cathy MacRae has spun for The Ghosts of Culloden Moor. Her writting is so wonderful and flows so well that I am actually able to envision everything that I read. I loved the secrets in this particular book and didn't see them coming at all. Another 5 star read from Ms. MacRae.
If you haven't read The Gathering yet you should read that before this book as it explains everything you need to know about the Ghosts of Culloden Moor and how they came to be.
First, one of the best parts of this very very short story is the riveting history and the high price the Scots paid. I feel that the story of our two ghosts would have been much stronger had an introduction been given. Jumping into the story mid action did nothing to pull the audience into the story.
This is book 21 in the series. You will want to read the first short story, The Gathering, for the background information on the Muir witch before you start the rest of the series. After that, each one can be read as a standalone.
This one has a twist that I should have been ready for but did not. I was hooked right away with this story. Wonderful quick read perfect for a day by the pool.
This is another great read in this series with a little bit mystery, and of course romance!
I loved this story. It's about a young girl who followed her brothers into battle dressed as a boy only to die and haunt the moor. Her story becomes one of compassion and found love while helping a sad child.
I loved reading about Sorcha and Alasdair. The historical note was so true and the positivity about the outcome of the dreadful day at Culloden in 1746 certainly lifted my spirit enormously.
Of the 79, each story is a stand alone and gives you insight to the suffering of the Scottish who tried to right a wrong and suffered much. Seeing each of these brave warriors find their peace makes for some great reading. Hope you will take the time to enjoy.
I enjoyed this book very much! It’s another must read of the series. I have enjoyed all of the stories and the different writers. This story is a little different than the others, in a good way. Nice twist!!!
I loved the characters (especially throwing in another ghost) HOWEVER, I really feel like the story was lacking in several elements (mostly the back story could have been more detailed) AND MacLeod didn't get a proper ending since she was still a ghost!

This story was different than the others. I enjoyed it so much. Love the characters and the storyline. It is a clean read. This is a romance adventure.
Okay so least just say you want believe it until you read it because its a ghost book. LOL I'm not talking about the Culloden 79 either. MacLeod went back home present day home to discover who needed rescuing so that he can get a chance a the Bonny Prince. What he discovered was a mystery and more people to help than just one. I won't tell you the truth about this book you will just have to read book #21 yourself.
I love the Ghosts of Culloden Moor series. The concept is great and having so many individual stories is fun. I loved this one because it is different from the rest and gives the overall story a different point of view. Won't say more because I don't want to spoil a story.
I'll admit that I nearly did not read this one, although I have read all of the previous additions. I'm so glad I chose to pick this up. I dearly love each and every one. The author does a fantastic job of creating memorable characters that the reader can't help but feel emotionally connected to.
When she left her home to stay with her brothers her name an appearance changed from Soni the sister to Hugh MacLeod loyal soldier for the Prince. Another great storyline that brings peace to her besides another life rises from the ashes. Looking forward to next book in this storyline.
Such a wonderful story and pleasantly surprising. I have yet to be disappointed by this series. The only complaint I have is that I need to wait until the next installment gets published. Thank goodness that with ebooks the process doesn't take months and months.
