Scrapper: MMA Badboy Romance

Rate this book
Angela Clark Cage Edwards, an undefeated MMA beast, picks me from the pack of journalists, offering an exclusive interview. In his penthouse suite. Just the two of us. I'm stunned. And nervous. I've covered hundreds of small time, local fights. This is the chance of a lifetime. The world famous fighter is drop dead gorgeous. Six foot three, ripped, and covered in tattoos. He's got swagger, dimples, and a sexy smile that makes me think it's all for me. He's shaving when I step inside his suite, wearing only a towel. I introduce myself, and he purposely lets it fall to the floor. He steps into the shower, leaving the door ajar. I try to look away, to focus on the interview instead of the way soap suds flow over his flexing muscles. I ask questions while he showers. He flirts. Invites me to join him. “Not happening.” I say, forehead burning. My skin tingles hot all over, and I can't blame the steam. I indulge in a brief professional glance. I manage to get a few quotes despite the distractions. After a few more innuendos, and a final offer to stick around for a casual roll, I thank him for his time, and he promptly kicks me out. Given his growly dismissal, I assume it's the last I'll see of Cage Edwards. Cage Edwards When you want something, go get it. In the ring, or in life. The moment I see her, I know she's mine. Has to be. Those hips, that ass. Everything about her makes my lust burn like whiskey and fire. She’s gorgeous, and I want her. I'm trying to leave the press conference, but not without her. So I point her out, "yeah you" style. Want to do an interview? Of course she does. I'm Cage Edwards. The last time I wanted something this bad was the world title. The belt around my waist. Now all I can think about is being on top of her, with her legs wrapped around me, whimpering my name. The things I will do to her. But she isn't making it easy. Even after I flash the famous smile, and show her the only thing bigger than my winning personality. Every word out of her mouth tells me she isn't like all the rest. Feisty, smart, real. The chase is on. I won't stop. Nothing will keep me from her. This is true love, and I'll fight for it. SCRAPPER, is a 50k word standalone Bad Boy Secret Baby romance novel, with no cheating, and a happily ever after ending.

Well, that was a quick and unfortunately error-filled read. I had trouble enjoying this one which is disappointing because, although I'm new to the author, the synopsis had me intrigued. I wanted more from this but the plot, character development, and even the sexual tension and love scenes didn't deliver for me. I also had a big problem with Cage, the hero of the story, and found myself disliking him more often than not.

I'm not one to harp on "insta-love" if it's done right, but this was a poor showing. And for someone who experienced what she did with her ex, Angela trusting Cage made absolutely no sense to me. He said he had reflected but I didn't believe him and didn't see evidence that he had actually grown .

The fact that the writing is filled with grammatical errors and misspelt words certainly didn't help me enjoy reading this. I try to overlook minor errors, but many of the ones I found in this book both annoyed me and made me question whether or not this was even edited. Overall, a lacklustre story.

Secret Baby tropes are not usually my thing (you'd think differently with the number of them that I've read lately), but this one was pretty awesome. The "secret" baby wasn't really a major story arc, though, so I didn't even really think about it until I was looking at the Goodreads page for the book to get ready for this review! I mean, does it really count as a "secret baby" story when baby was only a secret for, maybe, one chapter?

Anyway, I can honestly say that there was only one thing about this read that bothered me. About half-way through, I was really beginning to wonder why on earth every chapter started with "Angela." Obviously, I knew it was supposed to denote that it was from Angela's POV, but the whole book had been from her pov, so why do I need to be reminded of that in every single chapter? But then, almost as the end of the book, it happened, I got a scene from Cage's POV! I wish there were more from him. Ellison did such an awesome job writing his POV. That's my only complaint.

Everything else about the book gets nothing but my praise. The story drew me in, the characters were real, and the writing was phenomenal! I look forward to reading more of Chloe's work!

Immature and Disconnected

Best thing to say, this book was free due to Kindle unlimited. I said out loud several times “this is a romance?” FMC was extremely immature and wishy washy. One page she wasn’t going to drink to excess or sleep with the H until she knows more about him and can trust. Next page she’s giggling, downing drinks and “it’s on!” Male lead learns nothing and has zero personal/emotional growth dispute significant incidents. I’ve actually never read a POV (technically a dual but H had 4 or 5 chapters only) where the characters felt so disconnected from their life. Felt like a retelling of this situation during therapy instead of describing what was happening in the moment. First book by this author and sadly it’s a one and done.

Ok

3 stars it took awhile for me to get into this book. The first half was quite boring. I had to skip thru a few pages to get to the end.

Um.. yea not that good

Spoilers.... where should I start? There was absolutely no connection/chemistry between the main characters. After only 3 dates they're saying I love you and then he goes to jail and she visits him once after like four weeks and then writes him off as being a troublemaker, but supposedly she loves him? ridiculous and on top of that the only thing this chick freaking cares about is her story. That's what this whole book is about, her getting her career off the ground, that's it thats the whole book in a nut shell. I stopped reading aftet 70% I just couldn't take it anymore. I did skip to the ending just to see if he would go back to MMA. The only reason this book got 2 stars was because of the fights (those were decent).

I think you will like this one.

This is a classic alpha male meets smart girl, and decides he has to have her, tale. The story contains all the good elements of love-in-a-rush, with the challenges of dating a young hot head, in a world filled with people that want to poke the bear. I like that Angela takes the time to weigh the options each time a new conflict arises, rather than just rolling with his ridiculous punches. She is practical, while still allowing herself to slide into love with a laugh, which is a refreshing change. I was actually glad that the focus wasn't just the mind blowing sex, but more on the life journey that new love (esspecially one with built in challenges) can put you on.

I couldn’t finish this book. The author would start to develop the character or situation and then it would just be done. The middle part of everything was missing. It’s the “I love you” in the first sex scene. So he’s so immature that he flips off a judge and when he gets out he goes right back to drinking a smoking. Then at the cabin he talks about self reflection for a sentence while being so accepting of a child she didn’t tell him about. It’s either the plot is underdeveloped or not enough sex scenes to compensate.

Finding your equal match

Angela and Cages love story takes you on one hell of a roller coaster. You see how they care for one another, but their is the question of "Is love enough?". What is a woman to do when the guy who is some years younger than you continuously makes bad choices? Stay and deal, or run and hide. Great story.

Wow

There was a lot to love about this read. It was fast paced. It taught me more about fighting and mma. I almost got mad when I was on chapter 12 and it was still in Angela’s pov, but cage came and it was glorious. I liked that he went down for the bar thing and came out a changed man!

Just ok

so this book has potential, but I found it to miss the mark in certain aspects. It was just ok in my book. Could have been better, writing was a little sketchy in parts, and dialogue was ok too. I was hoping for more though.

Ok. Not the best MMA book I've read

Cage & Angela: TRIGGERS: domestic abuse, anger issues, MMA, assault. This book didn't really connect for me. It was very superficial in a way because the author never really dug deep into the characters and why they were the way they were. The surface was merely skimmed and really only for Angela. Cage is a complete mystery as he was supposed to be interviewed by Angela and never really gave any info about himself, not even when they started a "friendship". I felt there wasn't a strong connection with Cage and Angela but there was definitely a sexually one. This was not my jam.

This is the first time I have read a book by Chloe Ellison and I was very pleasantly surprised at how well the book was written. The drama and suspense between Angela (a feisty journalist, who just wanted a decent interview) and Cage (a MMA fighter, who was hot tempered and unable to control himself, until he went to jail) made the story captivating and interesting. I could not put this book down until I finish the reading the book. The erotic scenes are emotional and intimate (in the beginning) and the story-line and plot are well written. The characters are well developed and intertwined well with each other. I really liked reading this book and recommend this book to people that like to read a exceptionally good MMA romance.

Chloe Ellison is a new author to me and I was honored to be able to review this Scrapper: MMA Bad Boy Romance.

I really enjoyed the story because the pace, drama and suspense between Angela and Cage was really interesting. Even though this was a quick read for me, I was surprised by the great chemistry the author displayed throughout the story.

Cage is a MMA fighter who not so patient. He has lack of control and a hot temper that landed him in jail. Angela, is a journalist who just want her break, instead she gets more than what she signed up for with this bad boy. Who’s eyes are only on her.

He’s known to get what he wants…but will Angela let him?

I love it

Starts off slow until Angela's first interview with Cage. Angela is spunky and smart, Cage is the quintessential bad boy and an MMA champ. The ups and downs of their relationship mixed in with the mma world made an interesting and very sexy plot. A very sweet read! I did receive an arc from the author for my honest review.

Good read

This book is my first read from this author. I really enjoyed it, not to say that MMA is something I'm into, but something in the blurb just caught my attention and I had to but and deaf or immediately. I was not disappointed for it was funny, romantic, kinda ridiculous in some parts but very cool.

Great book

I really didn't hold out much hope for this book. Thought it was going to be a typical martial arts fighting book. But I was wrong. This book was great. It had humor which I love. Lots of drama and sex. It was well written. I could not put it down. I hope I read more from this Author.

The book had a decent start and great premise and then you hit their first love scene and it's all a giant crash and burn from there.
