Worth your valuable time

I recommend today's youngsters to read this bot by bit, assimilate it, apply it to get the maximum benefit. It's true that we can change our life, challenge the fate (if you believe in one), by bringing in a change in the habits we have adopted temporarily or over a period of time. Be the architect of your life.. As simple as that.

Good Self Help book

The book addresses the common problems faced in the modern world and most importantly instead of talking in Jargons talks about solutions which are simple. A good read.. Good Job Mr Scott Piles

End of Week 51: Book 📘51 Completed😊: Change Your Habits, Change Your Life – Scott Piles #myread4change #read2lead #read4life #books

“Don’t expect miracles to happen overnight. They rarely do. It takes a while to incorporate a new habit into your life.”

Change your habits, change your life urges reader to accept that changes are hard, and suggests small tiny changes to inculcate
habits that improves all aspects of life be it, physical, financial, spiritual or over all well-being.

Scott explains in change your habits, change your life how to identify our established habits, what triggers them and how to replace them with good ones in baby steps.

Few 🔑 Points –

• Identifying underlying causes – This one is really good and takes self-examination. Instead of treating symptoms we look at cause of it. Scott explains this with drinking habit. Many who drink are hiding behind drinking to refrain from facing real problem.

• If there is a level of craving, then it’s quite possible that this is a habit that you have learned but one which restricts your life.

• Set small goals that you are likely to be able to achieve. Remember to treat them like stepping stones in the river of life. Each stepping stone brings you closer to what it is that you want to achieve.

Few 📌 Quotes –

• Be mindful that your actions please YOU and be satisfied that your goals are reached without seeking the approval of others.

• You may have to reword things to suit the particular individual you are talking to, but honesty helps you to stop bad thoughts from building into mountains in your mind.

• What is past cannot be redone. What lies in the future is anyone’s guess. Be present in the moment and make it count.

I liked the idea of practical suggestions on habits one can incorporate into their life to improve it in a desired way. However, despite the practical premise, I thought a lot of the "tips" were quite vague and underexplained. For example, a frequent reference is made to mindfullness, yet the author at no time offers suggestions of how one can practice this or what useful resources on the topic might be.
Perhaps for someone who is a complete beginner when it comes to habit change and incorporation this could be a good start but having been interested in this topic for a long time, I didn't find anything all that novel and ground-breaking in this book. Some of the suggestions I also thought were quite oversold. An example here would be "habit reminders" - they are only as impactful as they are novel and once you get used to them, they just become part of your background to be ignored, sorry. Honestly, if you want to learn about habits, you would be better off watching Thomas Frank on YouTube or reading Atomic Habits (there are really good interviews with the author out there as well).

Great Motivator!

A very simple book on really getting your priorities straight. Nothing that has not been written before, but it's one of those topics that's always in need of a fresh touch and approach, which I found was achieved.
Insightful, informative and definitely useful.

Unlike any other self-help, this book conveyed the same message of improving your habits gradually. The impact is less but with such a small number of pages, this book provides loads of information.
