Have you struggled while you are waiting for something? What are you waiting for? Marriage? Healing? Promotion? Provision ...? Everyone is waiting for something! How do we live a full, purposeful life while we wait--before God brings us the desires of our heart? How do we wait well?Sometimes it is hard to enjoy the journey because we are so absorbed thinking about how much better things will be when we reach our destination. Melody Barker teaches you how to wait expectantly without pushing the pause button on your life. She shows you the art of actively waiting well.
I don't know if I've ever read a Christian book entirely about the process of waiting before--but that seems funny in retrospect, since that encompasses a large part of life. We're all nearly always waiting for *something*, aren't we? We've never "arrived" (and if we have, we're probably dissatisfied. I think of one of the men who walked on the moon, who later suffered from depression. Where do you go from there?)
The author writes in generalities, but I think that works, and I'm almost glad for her sake that she doesn't over-share (though it was clear enough what she was waiting for as the story unfolded). I felt like she was a girlfriend whom I could identify with and root for.
