"Those who deny freedom to others, deserve it not for themselves." - Abraham Lincoln

The new world without power has been tough to navigate, but John and Laura continue to learn.

John longs to get back to his home in St. Louis, but there never seems to be an easy way to get there.

Until one day, they are given a gift that will change the course of all their lives.

But will that change mean freedom, or have John dangling at the end of a rope?

John, Laura and crew return to the relative safety of Ben’s homestead. They decide to stay for awhile and all pitch in to get Ben squared away for the long haul. They get some crops put in, build up the perimeter security, and repair a vehicle for future use. John still has it in his head to go into the city to see what shape it is in and what is left of their home, if anything. They have been warned that the city is full of violent criminals and desperate survivors, willing to do whatever it takes to continue breathing. I don’t know what the big draw for John is to go back into the city when they have a very nice place to settle down in Ben’s farm. Taking the path of least resistance, they grab a boat and head up river to the city.
