'Lucas X. Black is a lifelong dominant living in southern Texas, where he is engaged as a full-time writer. He is formerly a paramedic of many long years’ experience, and often incorporates that knowledge base into his writing. Away from home, he enjoys spicy and exotic foods, loves to fish, and loves going to the movies. In his home, behind the closed doors of his dungeon, he is a sadist and humorist, in love with eliciting a range of sensation and reaction from his oh, so willing victims …' to 'I have been a writer for a number of years, finally branching out into publishing. I grew up in Texas, where much of what I write happens. I've been a R/L dom for almost a quarter century now. I've always liked writing, entering new vistas my mind affords. Life makes us the men and women we are, and I often (changing names to protect not so much the innocent but the delightfully sinful) dip into my life's experiences for the fiction I will be providing you. This book was recommended to me by someone who has read a lot of this author's work. I readily purchased it and started reading. It was a quick read for me and it flowed very well.

Lucas X Black travels through the world of BDSM in his stories, giving readers a view into this lifestyle. His scenes are extremely hot and get your imagination working overtime. I'm so glad that I started here. What I discovered was a beautifully written story of love and loss and losing one's own self. But can you ever truly find yourself after having lost it all?

This story starts with Jim Ford getting a phone call from an old friend asking him to lunch. Jim had lost his wife and unborn child thirteen months before turning him into an overworked employee during the week and a closet hermit/heavy drinker during the weekends. He decides to accept the invite to see his friend Corbin.

While waiting for his friend to arrive, Jim goes through the memories of how he lost his wife and unborn child in a tragic accident and what he's done to drown his sorrow since then. The first thing Jim notices when Corbin shows up to lunch is how much his good friend has changed since he last seen him. Jim tries to find out what has caused his friend to go from the healthy man he was to the shell of a man he's become but Corbin just passes it off digestive issues.

Jim quickly learns that the lunch invite was a ruse used to get him to come to visit Corbin and Belinda, Corbin's woman, on Saturday. At first he declines but after thinking it through he realizes how much he has missed his friends and decides to go.

He shows up to an emotional Belinda welcoming him into their home. He quickly realizes that there is something off, some sort of tension in the air but no one wants to openly discuss it, right away. That is until Belinda leaves them to talk. Corbin then explains how Belinda has been misbehaving and how he has been too sick and weak to discipline her properly. Corbin presents an idea which he believes will help everyone.

Jim doesn't know how to answer this and decides to visit his wife's grave looking for signs from her to let him know it would be ok. He remembers how both he and Colleen had both loved Corbin and Belinda and ultimately decides what they all need and goes back to tell them with his decision.

This starts off a series of events that is both devastatingly hard on the characters as it is life affirming and encouraging to those who have experienced loss in their life.

I absolutely loved this story written by Lucas X Black. Through his writing I felt how his characters felt and went through their emotions as I read this book. The intimate scenes were extremely hot and very well written. I'm looking forward to getting more books of his and exploring more of his writing.

I believe it's possible to find another love after losing someone. I admit I have isolated myself socially when I lost my love. I turned into a recluse and just focused on surviving each day. Then, one day you just happen to reconnect with friends. Suddenly, you feel like you're shaking the cobwebs out and slowly enjoying life again. Those special friendships are rekindled and you enjoy the closeness. Everything happens for a reason. You never know what life may bring.

Very well written short story full of love, heartbreak and humor. Jim has had a life shattering event happen in his life and to cope works and doesn't talk to his friends anymore. Over a year later his best friends Corbin and Belinda get in touch with him to sort things out because of what the future holds for them. The entire story from beginning to end is beautifully written with love and emotions.

A Beautiful & Emotional Lifestyle Journey

Lucas X Black writes what is probably one of the most emotionally compelling lifestyle novellas I have ever read. It was funny yet reverent and portrayed the truly beautiful depths that these types of relationships can have as they span the lifetimes of their participants through both good and bad. I will definitely read more.

Intriguing premise

This is the first book I've read by this author. I was intrigued by the premise, but disappointed in the execution. The narrative seemed simplistic, and then the story ended just as it should have been taking off.

Legacy was a short, erotic BDSM tale that left me wanting so much more. Lucas Black paints a beautiful story of loss and its crippling effects where redemption and hope are finally found and embraced.

Jim has lost his wife tragically and has buried himself to mask and deal with his grief. It takes a friend to open Jim back up with an unlikely proposition, and Jim is slowly able to come to the realization that “life is for the living.”

Black’s character development, partially due to his meticulous, dead-on dialogue which he is a master of, is just enough to complete this story in one sitting, but it also opens the reader’s appetite to crave more, more about each character and his/her past and more about the future that lies ahead as well. I really felt Jim’s emotional sense of loss. And the erotic scene which Black depicts with vivid imagery makes me want to beg him to write a full-length novel with more of that. Jim and Belinda’s first sexual encounter is exquisite.

Legacy showcases Lucas Black’s talent once again. It is witty, humorous, sexy, sad, emotional, and erotic, not easy to do in so few words. But I do want more. And I hope Black obliges us!

This story by Lucas X Black was in a anthology I read in 2014 and I'm so glad to revisit!
Jim Ford is a widower, turning to work where he used to turn to his wife and slave Colleen. Until one day his old friend Corbin calls and, with his wife and slave Belinda, charges into his life. The two need a huge favor from Jim, and in it, a huge gift for Jim ...
This was a emotional story that had me in tears more than once.(Good tears) It also gave me a view into this special D/s relationship.
This also made me a new fan of this writer, he has a way of writing that draws you into the story, like you are right there with the characters.
I'm not going to tell you the story, you will have to get it and read it yourself! You will NOT be disappointed. As a matter of fact you will become a fan of this author just like I did. Lucas X Black is one heck of a story teller!
So am I recommending this to you all? HELL YEA!!! Buy it! Read it! Love it!
I hope to read more of this couple that I fell in love with.

So… firstly, this book took me completely by surprise. I’m not the biggest fan of BDSM but I do like erotica. Lucas X Black gets right under your skin with this novella and I’ll be entirely honest I’ve never felt so connected to a character in such a short amount of pages.

Here we have Jim, a dom, who is also mourning his wife after a freak accident and existing in a life of grief, too much work, tequila and pizza. Until he gets a call from his best friend Corbin, Corbin and his wife/slave Belinda, then put a proposition to Jim, one that could change his life and get him out of the pit of grief and guilt that he’s currently residing in.

This is the first book from this author that i’ve read, although I do have Josiah I to read, I will definitely be bumping that up my list. Lucas Black has a way of writing where you feel every word he’s written. I loved Jim and I definitely can’t wait to read the full novel for this. This is a beautiful and emotional taster of what’s to come and believe me it’s going to be awesome!

5 stars!!

What a wonderful read. I loved this story, it was well written and a easy flow. I was swept into the story for page one. The way the author describes the situations you can't help but feel every emotion. I laughed I cried.
My heart went out to all the characters who had their own situation to deal with, but together can get through it.
I'm not one to give anything away in a review. I highly recommend Legacy it is a read you will want to read again and it will stay with you for along time. You will become a huge fan of this talented author after this read. So get your copy and enjoy this book. Fall in love with the characters.

This was so beautiful!

My first Lucas Black book, and I loved it. It was short, but a lot of story without feeling crammed. Jim, Belinda, and Corbin are close friends, and when tragedy strikes them--not once, but twice--they discover the meaning of love and friendship. This is a sweet story, but there is also lots of heat.

This definitely won't be my last Lucas Black book. Five stars!

Short and sweet, but with a whip to the bum. After Jeff loses him wife in a senseless acident. His life is just existing. That is until his friend and his wife. Make him an offer that brings him back to living. It is a sad story but we'll worth the read.

I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. Legacy was a very short erotic, BDSM read. It was well written and my overall opinion is that I liked the book. I did, however, want more detail and more story in order to give it 5 stars.

Sweet Sorrow

Well written. Loved the story line. Book is part sweet in that how Masters willing to go end of earth for their slave/sub's needs. Sorrow in the way the storyline direction takes. Hopeful that Mr. Black does a longer story based on this storyline

Legacy by Lucas Black was a heartbreakingly sweet short short. Jim is a widow who turns to working all the time after losing his wife/slave. When his good friend invites him over and gives him an offer he can't refuse.

I really want another book about Jim.
