Earhart grew up at a time when many believed that men alone had the right to experience the thrill of adventure—but, from the moment she saw her first airplane, she knew it was her destiny to fly. She made record-setting flights across America, the oceans, and, ultimately, around the world, earning more fame and admiration with every boundary she broke. Even today, her tragic and mysterious disappearance over the Pacific remains one of the great unsolved mysteries. This fascinating biography captures Amelia Earhart’s grit and unwavering determination to chart her own path.
Amelia Earhart: Flying Solo by John Burke is a biography about the life of Amelia Earhart. The book begins at Earhart's childhood and how she made the courageous decision to pursue a career that was dominantly for males: flying planes. She was a true symbol for equal rights and showed me as a reader that women are capable of anything. I thought it was interesting that she began as a nurse in the war, then started to watch her father with planes and knew she wanted to fly. It was beneficial to read a book about a woman who was so important and symbolized bravery and mystery. As a teacher, this book is great to share with students because of the variety of real-life pictures from Earhart's career and life. Students would find it more fascinating when relating the text to the photos. It includes historical background and knowledge of the 1920's and what significant events happened. I recommend this book for a history class about significant people in history.

This book is about Amelia Earhart growing up with a father that showed him the wonders of flying and aviation. After becoming more interested in flying, she took flying lessons, bought a plane, and began her journey to make history. This book was very interesting and it included a lot of information on the records that Amelia set and broke, and everything that she was able to accomplish in her life. I would rate this book a four our of five because although it was full of interesting facts and information that was phrased in a way that enticed the reader, some sections of the book were boring and I felt that some sections had a lot of unnecessary information. Overall, it was a great book that helped me learn a lot about Amelia Earhart's life and achievements, but some sections were unnecessary to be included in the book.
I will rate this 5 stars because this book was very interesting to read by the girl named Amelia who was the first pilot to fly solo cross the Atlantic by herself. She had wanting to do this for her own life. This was a impossible mission for her to do but she completed it with no problems at all. But sadly, she died at 41 and she was on a plane and it crash in a unknown island and people were trying to find her today which made it sad about this book. This is the reason why I rate this book 5 stars by how interesting it was to read.

Didn't really know much about Earhart before picking up the book, and I'm glad I read it. She was a 'modern woman' who just didn't need any man and was fiercely independent. She was a passionate aviationist and died doing what she did best... or did she? I like that the author remained neutral until the end about her disappearance, but he did include a few fan theories. Regardless, it is a tragic story about human foley. The book I read included full page photos of Earhart throughout each chapter.
10. As you read today, what surprised you? Explain how this will affect the story or how it changed your thinking about the story.
This biography book about, ‘Amelia Earhart’’ the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, really surprised me just at the beginning of this lecture. As I am a man of culture, I know her and I know that what she did as a woman at that time was so wonderful. When we are teenagers, we can do many things which could appear without any attention but years later would make us a World celebrity or engaged our whole life .for example, Mrs. Earhart was just hanging out with her father at the Fair, their father proposed her to the flying field on the edge of the Fairgrounds. She was uninterested but by the time she will be interested to plane and it will become her passion. Besides her father was transfixed by the miracle of flight and tried to interest Amelia.
14. Why do you think the author wrote this story? Where did he or she get the idea or the characters? What message do you think that the author is trying to share?
I think the author wrote this biography to remind us or let young girls know about who Amelia was and what she did. The concept that women are weakness and cannot do the same thing as men do is obsolete right now. Some girls as Amelia are great example of women for their future, As in Africa women are taking power and trying to argue with men. Furthermore, circumstances related that at her first step on this special square for men she had to prove she was able to make the difference or to do better .thus, I guess this book gives little girls who are looking for parity some hope.
Brief autobiography of Amelai Earhart background to disappearance during round the world flight. She was first woman to fly over Atlantic (as passenger with two male pilots)
With Amelia Earhart: Flying Solo, Burke introduces young readers to Amelia Earhart, a true heroine for the ages. Beginning when Earhart is a girl, she was more interested in adventure than appearing 'proper’. Among other things, she tried to build a roller coaster as a child! Despite familial upheavals and personal trials, Earhart never gave up on her dreams, and would go on to become an aviator. During her life, she earned many accolades, setting records left and right. She was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Sadly, in an attempt to circumnavigate the world by plane, Earhart mysteriously disappeared. Burke's writing is clear and easy to undersand, supplemented with pictures, and extra tidbits of information. Earhart is a fascinating woman and a great role model for young girls.
If you have any children with a love of history, this is the perfect gift!
