There is an ancient pathway that leads to an endless well of great experience. It is Jesus Christ, alive from the dead, beckoning hearts that burn for Him, "walk this way...come and find me here!" In his book, Fasting, Michael challenges us to find a greater place of experiential union with Jesus by adventuring out into the deep waters of fasting as a lifestyle. "Fasting revives the gaze that has lost its fascination with Christ." "Only the truly hungry will fast." "Fasting is much more than simply turning from food. Fasting is intentionally and intimately turning to Jesus."
Michael Dow and his wife, Anna, have been married for thirteen years and they have four children together. Their family resides in Orlando, FL, where they lead a growing group of house churches called The Father's House. He is the cofounder and president of Burning Ones, an international ministry team helping people all over the world experience the love and power of Jesus and live more passionately devoted to Him. Michael is the author of several books, including, Fasting: Rediscovering the Ancient Pathways. Michael holds an undergraduate degree in theology from Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL, and travels the world preaching the Gospel with powerful signs and wonders following into gatherings of all kinds.

I got a lot out of this book. It went deeper into what fasting does for the soul than other books I've read, including Arthur Wallis' classic book on fasting.
Fasting is a distinct decision and clear path of surrendering self to gain more of God's heart.
I'll most likely read it again. He has a volume 2 that I'll read next after Dow's book on generosity.
The 2 fasting books as well as a book on prayer and one on generosity comprise his Matthew 6 collection.
This is the best book about spiritual fasting I’ve ever read. Michael Dow shares so much wisdom about why we should fast, how we should fast and even what to expect as a result. This is not my first time reading this book and it will not be my last, every time I enter into a season of fasting I like to reread this book as a reminder of why I’m doing it and to encourage myself to stick with it.
I have only this to say "I am hungry NOT TO EAT!!" Even though it's about fasting and praying, I am hungry to feast on the Lord Himself. A must read book 👌🏻
According to Dow, God longs to use someone to tear down evil strongholds over entire regions and establish standards of loving devotion to Jesus in their stead. This book claims that fasting is key to seeing such shifts take place.
Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.
