If you are asking yourself how you can teach your child to read, you are asking the wrong question. You should be asking… How to teach your child to LOVE reading. Teaching your child how to read is an imperative - a big MUST. Readers are at an advantage over those who cannot read in terms of cognitive development, in social interactions, in getting the best shopping deals, in grabbing opportunities in the workplace, and in life in general. This book will go over the benefits and the importance of reading (for children and adults). It will then introduce you into the types of literary works for children and suggest a number of books depending on your child’s age. Finally, I will give you tips and advice on how to help your child read and how to nurture the reader in him/her.
I liked the book. It is easy to read, straight-forward and contains useful information. The first part is about the importance of reading in general and for children in particular. Then you learn about different book types that suit different age groups of young readers. It also includes a recommended reading list, and a section of very useful tips on how to encourage your kids to read. It is a pretty short book, you can read it in one day, which is why I gave it 5 stars.
An OK short read. I liked the recommended reads by the age part. What I didn't like was that a part of the book is talking about the importance of reading for adults, while the book is about children. I think that would be okay if the book was big, but the book is short. Overall, not bad for a short read.
