A Deadly Obsession

Her ~ Scorned by the one person who was supposed to love me, my mother, I made up my mind long ago that love was for the weak and it was just something I didn’t need nor desire. But, in time, what was in my mind was soon overridden by the desires of my heart.

One phone call changed everything. . .

Now, I crave a man I’ve never met. He was only meant to be, part of my job, just another voice over the phone. Could it be this voice belongs to the man I need? But, is there a difference between falling in love with him and learning to trust him?

I wonder?

Him ~ Some say I’m a wounded soul and maybe I am. Yet I want her like I’ve never wanted another. Now I’m questioning my own motives as the lines begin to blur.

It was a job. Falling for her wasn’t supposed to be a part of the plan, but once desire took hold, it refused to allow me to walk away. I had to have her. I had to protect her, even if that meant I had to become someone I didn’t want to be.

Someone has their eye on her. Someone seems drawn to her like a moth to a flame. I will stop at nothing to keep her safe from them, from harm, but at what cost? When desire turns to fixation, then, obsession. Is it possible for the cause of her problems, to also be the solution?

Dark, suspenseful, and thrilling.

This short story had so much potential. There was an intriguing plot, engaging and complex characters, and also a nice plot twist in the end. The mystery of this creepy stalker and also this 'Him' had me guessing right up until almost the last chapter.

Despite the fact that I enjoyed the story just fine, I still had a few problems with this book, nothing that big or serious, just that they bugged me sometimes during reading.

-- There was not enough romance between the hero and heroine. I had a hard time believing in their feelings toward each other, especially the heroine’s.

-- The ending felt too rushed for me and there was no epilogue.

-- Not enough drama in the story.

-- Not enough insight into the hero’s character.

Aside from those issues, I have nothing else to complain.

Nevertheless, in the last chapter, when things fell into place eventually, I felt relieved and satisfied with the answers I got.

Overall, this was an enjoyable and fast-paced read.

This really wasn't for me.

*Opinions below*

Usually one might like to avoid starting with "Hi, my name is ___ and this is my (awful?) life..."

Secondly, usually it's better to show rather than tell in some instances. It can help bring out the flair in a story; help the flow of a motion or set the scene.

My opinions.

I don't know if it's the story or my mindset, but I can't get into the plot. None of the characters or the baseless plot they're involved in are keeping my interest. Nothing makes sense and I'm not going to continue hurting my brain trying to figure this ish out.

This was a short quick stalker read that I wish was longer. Willow had a neglected and abusive childhood at 15 years old she was on her own. Her mother deserted her but Willow has a Granny she adores. After a stroke Granny is in a nursing home, and Willow has worked hard for years so she can buy a home and move her granny in with her. Willow is also putting herself through college by working as a phone sex operator. Joe who is a frequent caller and she broke all her rules by becoming close to him and letting him know information about her. This was a pretty good dark story. This was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

First book by this Author I have read but it will not be the last one, I kept turning pages I just had to know what was going to happen next! This was a good short read of only 74 pages. This is Willow and Joe’s story about two broken people ,will they be able to heal each other? I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Mothers are suppose to keep their daughters safe, yet some don't! Ms. Winters has written a short story that empowers woman to keep surviving after bad things happen and never lose sights of dreams. I like the Him, Her chapters. Both of the characters are wounded in different ways, yet a phone call awakens desire for them. This was my first book by Ms. Winters, and it won't be my last!

Interesting concept and well written. I really enjoyed the characters and was surprised by how quickly I became immersed in the story. These are two everyday people just doing the best they can to survive and be able to enjoy life. You can't help who you fall for and you definitely can't help when you become the obsession of someone else. This was my first read by Eva, but I would definitely read more from her.

Willow is abandoned by her mother, but at least has her granny. Unfortunately her grandmother has to go to a home and she brings herself up. Willow gets a job on the phone as a sex talker. Because she had an abusive beginning, she trusts no one. After speaking to Joe as a customer, something more seems to be there. A great read

An abused orphan who works as a phone sex operator to pay the bills, and an ex military PI who is obsessed with her. Just weird, It was almost too light if that makes sense. There wasn't enough dark tones to it to make the story seem real.

The prologue was more of a back of book blurb than actual story and it didn't get any better from there.

Not at all what I expected - but an intriguing story none the less - seemed a bit short and I definitely wanted more depth from it.

This was a well written story that grabbed my attention from the start. The characters were well developed considering the length of the story. The plot was well developed and full of unexpected revelations. For me, in spite of the heroine's profession of choice, this was more a mystery type read than romance with a dark heavy aura which had me wary about what was to come but couldn't stop reading to see what happened next.
I received a free copy of Stalked By Love however I voluntarily submit this honest review.

This is the first time I've read a story by Eva Winters .
The storyline was intriguing .I love a good thriller with a stalker ..so exciting , but at some points I really would have liked some intimate moments between the main characters or some romance to show they had grown closer.

I must admit I didn't expect it to end the way it did, but at the same time the story just seemed to crawl alone. It captured my attention and was a quick read, however I guess I was just expecting more suspense. But all in all not bad.

In this book you get both his and her POV. You don't really get real names until the end. You get other names that they go by. I thought one thing was going on the whole entire time but when I got the the end I realize that I had it all wrong.

At first I didn't know what Willow was doing to make money. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was. I really liked seeing how she loved her grandma and how she tried to make her life better. She was also putting herself through college.

I didn't know if Joe was stalking her or if he really loved her. I couldn't imagine doing what he did for her. I'm so glad that he ended up being the way he was. I don't really want to give anything away. It is kind of hard.

The author did a great job keeping me entertained.

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book.

Very interesting to read. I spent the whole book trying to figure out the "who." You want to believe the best of Joe, but it's a bit fishy, then at the end you get the aha moment and your faith in him is justified. Liked how Willow is very driven, working hard to achieve her goals. A very quick read and entertaining.

very good story overall, characters were interesting and plot was well conceived, there were a couple of twists that I didn't see coming and overall it was a very enjoyable book. The only reason it lost a star was because I fell that the characters could have been a little more in-depth, i still enjoyed the book and would recommend to anyone wanting to read a short contemporary romance.

Willow Blakes and her two other identities struggle to get through everything but she tries her best as she has goals in mind that revolve around her grandma. Yet lately she feels as if someone is watching her. She lets her guard down with one of her "special callers" Joe when she is "Kitty Luv" and working as a phone sex operator.

Joe is attected to Willow but is working as a PI doing an investigation. Yet he feels a need to keep her safe and wishes he could do more than just talk to her on the phone.

Will Willow be able to figure out who is after her before she realizes how much this guy really knows?

This was a quick and mysterious read! I wasn't sure how everything was going to tie in together but the author did a great job of making everything fall into place.

I liked Willow and how hard she worked to try and get a place for her and her grandma. She had no desire to be a phone sex operator for ever but wanted to make sure that they could live. She worked hard and had no idea who would be after her.

I liked "Joe" and was trying to piece everything together. I knew he was involved somehow but wasn't 100% sure although I knew what his job was so there was some link there for sure.

The ending surprised me but I loved how it all tied in!

This is the first time I have read this author and it won't be my last.

Alex (aka, 21, PTSD, nee Willow) is attending a PTSD psychosocial group led by Dr. Winston.
Kitty Luv (aka, nee Willow) has lots of clients she takes care of.
Willow (psychology major) called Joe just to talk.
She decided to have dinner with him at Southern Cuisine. They had never met.
Why did Officer Harris, & Officer Davis (partner) come see Willow?

Warning: This book is for adults only & contains extreme violent or graphic adult content or profanity &/or sexually explicit scenarios. It may be offensive to some readers.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written erotic romance (short story) book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great romance movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. It was just OK for me so I will rate it at 4/5 stars.

Thank you for the free Author; instafreebie; InPrint Publishing book
