Silly Dogs is an easy read book for children. The rhyming sentences, cute dog pictures, and fun descriptions help your child grow confident in their early reading skills! Help them sound out words they don't know and praise them for the ones they get right. This one is for the dog lovers!

These dogs are so cute, clever and funny. With props and adorable faces, each page made me smile and sometimes laugh. With plenty of pictures to give the little guys something to read for a while. The photos really have a lot of activity and heart. I loved the dogs in actions. I was glad I picked this up for the little fellow. He loves dogs and he was not disappointed.
This book is a just collection of random snapshots (most of them are horrid) of dogs taken from the internet with simple, sometimes inane, captions. A couple of the photos look professionally done. I hope she paid the royalties for them.
I used this book for a first grade lesson plan on adjectives. I liked it because it incorporates many different adjectives, and also prompts kids to think about what adjectives can describe dogs that "like (to) ___". It uses simple language and the illustrations match the words, which helps build vocabulary.
The only thing I wish is that I could have used it, and my lesson, in an actual classroom or with actual kids. Maybe next year.
You might look at its cover and think, Silly Dogs, hmmm, a children's picture book. However, you would be wrong. SILLY DOGS is not a picture book for kids; instead, it's a book of dog photographs for kids and adults. Inside, opposite of one unique type of dog picture, lie a few descriptive words about a "silly dog," i.e., surfer dog, bold dog, sad dog, etc. Some dogs dressed up richly for his or her photo shoot. Though not a humorous book, per say, SILLY DOGS emphasizes the facts that dogs can act like and can dress like their owners, which, in some instances, can be VERY funny. Anyone who loves dogs, from the very young to the very old, from whatever culture to whatever language, will appreciate the world of dogs, according to Beth Hammond. This is a wonderful realistic book with dogs. The rhyming helps the kids wanting to turn the pages time and time again. The story has easy words to understand with picture clues about what is being talked about. Just reading the words is not enough. Just looking at the pictures is not enough. Picking out the hard words and talking about them is not enough. Doing all of it is just enough. Good luck. Happy reading. Also remember to hold your sides when you laugh or your sides will hurt from all the laughing. I found this book on a website for free for an honest review.
I was looking for a quick read, which, if anything, a picture book promises to be.
Silly Dogs is a book that provides readers with a collection of colored photographs of dogs while assigning each photo an interpretation of what may the dog be doing or feeling along with others that are clearly capturing the obvious subject of its doggy(s) models.
The text, even with it being super obvious, is simple to read, follow and understand while having an unintentional rhythm to it. As a result, this would make a great starting reader book, especially for those who like dogs.
