"I don't want to hurt you, so do what I say."
Alpha wolf shifter Zeke Claybourne has fallen from grace. Once the heir to his family pack, he now runs errands for the pack members who can actually sire children. Infertile and bitter, a man who lost everything, he forces himself to be a good soldier for his family even though he longs for something more. Something worth fighting for.

A fertile omega, Mathias Ekblom grew up oblivious and carefree on his family's vineyard, only to find himself bound and blindfolded and stuffed into the trunk of a car. He's being gifted to a rival pack against his will. Is he part of a peace treaty? A gift to halt aggressions? He has no idea.

Zeke has one rule when he runs errands for his family: don't ask questions. He's sent deep into the northern woods to collect a routine delivery. But when fate forces him to open the trunk of his car, revealing the bound and ever so tempting body of Mathias within, he can't help but wonder what's going on.

Mathias and Zeke only need hours in one another's company to realize that something greater than themselves has brought them together. One scorching touch is all it takes before they realize they're fated mates.

But what good is a mate when Zeke can't father a child of his own? ... Or can he?

This short novel contains intense steamy scenes between a possessive alpha wolf and his fated mate. It also contains male pregnancy (mpreg). This is the first book in the Alpha's Heir trilogy.

For a limited time, this title includes a free bonus novel as a gift.

This book covers 2 stories and while the main story is quite enjoyable for a mpreg story it's the 2nd one that makes this book interesting.

'Captive' is more a kick-off for a series than a complete short story. There's no cliff hanger but the end is too open to call it even a HFN. The world is more roughly outlined then clearly defined but as we are in an AO universe you'll can expect the usual perception though not too extrem. There is no damsel in distress omega with bambi eyes turning filthy sex kitten during heat who submits eagerly to his fate as soon as pregnancy starts. Okay, Mathias isn't that far away from the picture but it's tempered enough and Zeke while still the bouncer muscled alpha comes with enough baggage to not be the complete douche and Mad Men style macho straight from the 50s. So it could be worth to get more of this series and see where the author leads the story.

'Power Forward' is no mpreg and doesn't need any world building because it's obviously our world just with werewolves. We don't get any insight on the hidden shifter society or some grand scheme about the wolf origin. This story is completely focused on Blair, a human NHL player who's struggling with his coming-out. Starting the new season there is also a new player: Nikita, a Russian with a temper and social inabilities but there is an indeniable chemistry on the ice between them, so they become hotel roommates and before anyone is getting the wrong impression: that doesn't lead to insta-love, immediate scorching hot sex and mating but yes, Blair discovers Nikita's secret and first fears for his life and then does everything to protect and support his new friend until he realize it's more than friendship and his perception of being gay comes forward again.

For a short story the characters are complex enough and I'm always for slow burn and don't worry we get the hot sex at the end but be warned there is a lot of hockey in there, so if you're like me and not knowing much about that sport there will be parts of the story where you read a bit faster ;)

This was a short and interesting shifter story. Your typical mpreg romance with an Alpha who supposedly wasn't able to sire children and therefore losing his place as an heir to his pack. The drama meeting his fated mate, an Omega who was gifted to his pack against his will was rather mild. Nevertheless I had fun reading about those two getting their HFN.
What really surprised me here was a bonus story, about 2 hockey players, one of them a werewolf. Not your typical shifter story, as this was embedded in the "real" world, with just a few hints that there were more shifters out there somewhere.
This was intriguing, kept me hooked and interested until the end and in my opinion was much better than the first story in the book.
So if you find this, make sure to read on, once the mpreg story is finished, it's definitely worth it!
3.5 stars for the Alpha heir and solid 4 stars for the bonus story!

This book was entertaining but mostly frustrating but it’s not really a book but half a book. The story is interesting and well written but it’s cut short in half and the second book is nowhere to be found, the links in the ebook don’t work and it doesn’t seem to exist. It’s weird. Also, there’s an extra novella in the book which I haven’t read because I was already frustrated with the whole thing.

what the heck?

I was reading till I got to like 40% and the book ends with a cliffhanger and there is no book 2? The rest of the book is some other person story. What kind of person does that?

Ok, this book was damn short, but in these few pages the author was able to make me believe in her chars and their story.
Their meeting isn't one of the best, since Mathias is bound and blindfolded and stuffed into the trunk of a car by his own cousins, to be gift to a rival pack, and Zeke is an Alpha that has fallen from grace, bcs he can't have kids, and that now runs errands for his pack, and finds his hands full with an omega in heat. And he wasn't aware that the errand was to retrive a person, or wolf in this case.
Mathias is strong and not submissive, something unusual for Omegas. He wants to escape and will do all he can to achive that, also seduce the alpha. Not that it will be an hard job, ok maybe it will be..but in a good way. Mathias isn't a virgin and also if his sex experience is related to a mistake he made when he was only 19 years old, he isn't shy and knows how to lure the older man. Zeke may be strong and loyal to his family and pack, also if they don't want him anymore as the heir, and he tries to resist the urge to touch the alluring Omega. Mathias intrigues him, is defiant and feisty and too smart for his own good.
Mathias tries to escape a few times, but Zeke easily catches him and he never really hurts him in doing so. When the Omega last idea is to try and seduce him, he really tries to ignore him. But he is an Alpha and as strong as he may be, his nature calls to him and there is also a strange pull between them, and maybe if they had stepped out of their roles, as kidnapper and victim, they would have understood it before ending up in bed.

They are destined mates, and this is clear from the first time they kiss. Useless to say, that the sex was hot.
Now Zeke has only a choice, run with his Omega and protect him. He will not let anyone else touch his mate and the idea of someone else having kids with him, makes him furious. They run and they hide and along the way Mathias understands something. His heat lasted only a day, bcs he is now pregnant.
Zeke can't believe he is going to be a father, after his 2 previous mating had failed and he hadn't been able to father a child, but this bond with Mathias is different they are destined to each other, they are true mates. Also if his brain tells him to not hope for a miracle, his heart believes in Mathias.

The book ends like this and now I'm going to the 2nd!!!!!!!

This serial fiction novel reminds me a lot of the Omega series by Eileen Glass. This is a good start to the story, although the characters haven't really been developed yet. Most everything has been set up and action, and I expect we'll see more of the emotion in the next installment. The situation seems deliciously complicated and dangerous. Lots is riding on Zeke's next move and this portion ended at the perfect point to play that up. This is really just a novella with another novella as bonus material at the end, so the page count is somewhat misleading. I will definitely continue following the story, although I wish I knew how many parts it was going to be. I don't like serials because they are pretty exploitative but I got this for the intro price of 99 cents. Not sure if I will continue via KU or keep buying the parts as they are issued. A really dilemma with stories like this.

Another awesome book by Wolf Specter. I give it five stars for story line, character development and great sex scenes. I could take away for lack of editing, but I just couldn't, oh and for making me wait to buy the next book (Which I will!)

The summary of the book really said it all, so I don't want to repeat myself. I'm enjoying the series thus far. In fact I need to go order the "Hunted".

So the story wasn't bad if I ignore the fact that a man with his hands bound in front of him COULD NOT TAKE HIS OWN SHIRT OFF! But GR says this book is 316 pages. Bullshit. It ended at 42% on my Kindle, and some other story about hockey started? What the fuck? Bonus novel? Uh, what happened to the novel I was reading?

Not cool.

I... don't know what to say, really.

I wasn't expecting a book about male werewolves who can get pregnant.

But it's surprisingly well-written. Despite...male pregnancy.

But it ends rather abruptly, leaving the impression that this is really a 3rd of a novel, rather than part of a set of 3.

I don't like the way Omegas are treated here. Zeke is a jerk. The pack families sound pretty terrible as well. It was left on a cliffhanger and after skimming the last several pages I can say I won't be picking up the rest of the story.

The main storyline is barely developed and mostly weak. I didn't even connect to the main coupled pair Zeke and Mathias. This start was bland and barely developed.

Absolutely loved this!

This book is amazing! Definitely unconventional meeting but wonderful chemistry. I'm really excited to read part 2 to see how things turn out!
