This is a well-formatted cookbook with photos of almost all finished products. There's a table of contents with recipes divided into categories (for ease of finding). The author discusses the ingredients used in Greek cooking and then mentions the cooking tools and methods used.
Although there is no nutritional information, there is info about the prep and cooking times, plus servings. The author points out that meat dominates the dishes served in Greek restaurants. However, in Greece, meat is more of an occasional addition rather than the center of the meal.
This is well-written and proofed (so many cookbooks need to be better proofed). Reading the information about Greek foods and culture was a joy. Overall score = 4.5 stars.
Collection of Greek recipes that you can make it home. I like Greek food and it is really helpful to know that I can make it home. I found the recipe is very interesting and easy to read. I like the directions and they’re also pictures to go along with it. There are conversion charts at the end of the book which are very helpful. I recommend this book for all those who like Greek cookies.
I am a British Greek and, although I cook lots of Greek food, this book is great for reminding me of some favourite childhood flavours. It's regular every day food Greeks made when I lived there, 30+ years ago. Unpretentious, it's very useful for my daughters who love Greek food and this is a handy book for many recipes for them to cook
Greek Takeout Cookbook: Favorite Greek Takeout Recipes to Make at Home by Lina Chang - This was an amazon freebie, but it’s also on kindle unlimited. Happy Reading and Cooking!
I received a free electronic copy of this wonderful cookbook from The Cookbook Publisher and Lina Chang. Thank you all for sharing your hard work with me. I have read this work of my own volition and this review reflects my honest opinion of this work. Chang writes a clean, crisp recipe and instructions that are easily understood. When it's cold out, I cook. And boy did we enjoy this week! The Tiropita is a great snack or a perfect comfort-food, as are Dolmades and saganaki. My grandmother's recipe handed down to us for Zucchini Fritters is good, but are even better Lina Chang's way, with feta cheese and fresh dill. All of the sandwich ideas look fresh and delicious and are waiting on my next shopping trip. I am looking forward to making my own pita bread. And the salad dressings are most welcome - they add spices to salads that are a good change of pace from tired old French and Ranch. My husband isn't sure I should put lemon juice on EVERYTHING, though it certainly works for me.
