I liked the idea behind this, of teaching science through story. And my kids thought it was okay, but I couldn't make it past 3 chapters because it was sooooo boring to read aloud, which is sad for what is supposed to be an action story. There was some "action" involved in the story, but it wasn't written in a way that was conducive to action... it was just like a list of things happening. Descriptions were interruptions in the story rather than flowing naturally. And most science information felt shoehorned in rather than integral to the plot. I still think "science through story" is a nice idea, but this book just didn't do it for me.
