It can often be challenging to find books set in Saudi Arabia, but Halla bint Khalid's The 100 beautifully bridges that gap. This book does a fantastic job of explaining both the history and various aspects of Saudi culture, skillfully weaving them into the widely shared love of desert camping among Saudi people. The book's illustrations are a major highlight and truly fantastic. It features multiple fold-outs, including a spectacular four-page full fold-out near the end that consistently elicits gasps of awe from students. Furthermore, the back of the book is rich with reference notes that explain many of the intricate details within the illustrations. This makes the book feel like an incredibly engaging informational text told through the medium of a story.
