Angels: Demons of the Sky

ANGELS

We all know about the notion of angels, but what are they in essence? And we’re not talking about the Hollywood misconstruction of their image, revealing them as feminine, halo-ed, winged and having the role of a messenger or personal guide. We’re talking about information stemming from much older sources, such as St. Thomas Aquinas, Dionysius and St. Bonaventure, who knew that there was much more to these sometimes winged sometimes not, sometimes good sometimes evil, mediators between us mortals and God.

So, what do they look like and what is their purpose here on Earth? Well, seeing they’re pure spirits, their existence can take on any form, and depending on their nature (yes, there are dark angels as well), their outer appearance usually denotes their purpose. Christianity, Islam, Judaism and other religions of the world mostly recognize the existence of angels, and there are actually major characteristics as well as a hierarchy, denoting where each single angel belongs and what his main purpose is. Furthermore, this book will reveal some very interesting facts regarding the lesser known angels and demons (who are also referred to as fallen angels, following the notion of the first ever fallen angel Lucifer, later known as Satan, who refused to bow down and serve). These lesser known angels include names such as the Watchers, shoulder and guardian angels, Abbadon, Jinn, Moroni, Erinyes, Belphegor, Eudaemon, Cacodaemon, Agathodaemon, Astaroth, Yaoguai, Oni and Wekufe, which list some surprising characters such as crowned princes of Hell or winged angel-like beings (called the Valkyrie) who lift worthy warriors to Valhalla.

Thus, it becomes evident that the identity of angels is so much more than the sugar-coated image we get from movies and modern TV shows. Ancient mythology knew the real truth behind you’d definitely want one on your side, but to be tempted by a fallen angel (especially if that fallen angel was one of the seven princes of Hell), then we’ve got a whole different scenario.

So, if you’re fed up with seeing angels as goody-two-shoes, glowing orbs, or beautiful women clad all in white, and are looking for the true depiction of these entities throughout human mythology, then you’ve come to the right place.
