Ryder Calhoun would rather face down an angry bull than commit to a relationship. And that’s exactly what every woman he encounters seems to be after. He’s a championship bull rider, and his family’s reality show is a big hit. He’s not into gold-diggers or Buckle Bunnies who are after the prize—him. Joy Humphries is rodeo royalty—her dad is a big name in bull riding and she knows what the life’s all about. She also knows men like Ryder Calhoun. Strong, capable and reportedly dashing between the sheets, though Daddy wouldn’t let her hook up with a rodeo man even if she wanted to. But the more she’s around Ryder, the more she thinks he might be different. Or is that all an act for the cameras? Ryder can’t complete a thought that doesn’t have Joy attached to it in some way. He doesn’t care if she’s slapping his face or letting him kiss her silly—just being around her is enough for him. Trouble is they can’t escape the camera crew, and her father seems to pop up around every turn. There’s also a not-so-little problem with her distracting him in the arena, and he needs these wins to help his family. Maybe he should just give up on Joy, because the only thing worse than falling for a forbidden woman is doing it in front of reality TV cameras.
Hes a reality star/Rodeo cowboy. Shes rodeo royalty and her daddy won’t stand for any rodeo Romeo even looking at his princess. Joy knew Ryder was beyond off limits. For several different reasons, but she cant help being drawn to him. When Ryders around, it doesn’t matter what her brain says, her body says something different. As a bull rider and rancher, Ryder needs to be sharp and keep his wits about him. One mistake could get him injured or worse. But when Joy is around, he cant think of anything else. The sparks really fly with these two, and the chemistry is hot. Their romance builds into a slow simmer. Loved this whole series. Every one a gem!!
The sneaking around was the best part with Joy and Ryder. They had a chemistry they didn't want to deny, even if it caused problems. Those problems were sure fun to watch unfold. Joy's dad was such a softy with her though. I loved that he just wanted to be happy. We get a lot more Calhoun craziness. I'm loving this family, and the results they have being on reality tv!
In this episode of Rope ‘n Ride, Ryder Calhoun and Joy Humphries catch each other’s eyes and hearts but her dad is against Joy being with a rodeo man. Legendary bull rider Thunder Humphries might not want Ryder for Joy but he does want him for himself, to train Ryder to be a professional bull rider. Wynonna’s secret is out, unfortunately clipped as a highlight. Buck and Channing have news and a rocky road and Cousin Ennis isn’t giving up. Rating: 3.5stars
Ryder rides bulls, and he is good. Joy is the daughter of a former pro bull rider and her daddy doesn't like her hanging out with cowboy s. But sparks ignite and you couldn't keep these two apart if you wanted to. Read Ryder, book 2 in the Rope and Ride series to find out all about the Calhoun family, their struggles and achievements....and some good hot sex.
Ryder plus Joy equal a hell of lot of fun for all to see. Brothers fighting for their ranch and the people they love. Romance has just begun with the next-generation season of Rope' n Ride coming up in a hurry.
This is one author I could never get tired of reading. She draws you into the story, making you love the characters and hoping things will work out for them.
Em Petrova strikes this one out of the park--5 stars.
The second installment of the Rope 'n Ride series was a more well-rounded read than the first novel in the series, Buck, featuring more a lot more in the way of a story line, family involvement, secondary characters and quite a bit less sex. Fear not, there's still plenty.
This is primarily Ryder and Joy's story, Ryder being the bull-riding Calhoun brother and Joy being the daughter and only child of Thunder Humphries, one of the founders of the PBR. These two strikes sparks off each other from the get-go, something neither of them expects. Ryder is a commitment-phobe and Joy isn't looking for a one-night stand with someone who has a reputation as a player. The reality show has drawn even more Buckle Bunnies to Ryder, but from the minute he sets eyes on Joy, they become invisible to him, although Joy isn't quite ready to believe that. In addition, her father is dead set against her having anything to do with cowboys and especially those who are involved in rodeo. Meanwhile, the cameras are watching and filming and driving most of the Calhouns crazy, and that's just for starters.
There's more than one subplot going in this novel, and I'm not giving any spoilers. This was a fast, sexy, funny, one-sitting read, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
One thing I really like about the Rope n Rides series is that the entire family is included in each book. This book is mainly Ryder and Joy's story, but you still get the interaction with all of the brothers, and Wynonna. Ryder and Joy have this chemistry that sparks and then bursts into flame.
The one thing I wish we could have read about in this book was Joy's father, Thunder, and his reaction when she told him that she was with Ryder.
Although there are a number of sex scenes , this book has a strong emphasis on family, sibling relationships, and working together.
As we re-connect with the famous Calhoun family the ever-present cameras are causing emotional turmoil and testing even the most restrained of the family members patience.
While some drama is to be expected, the rodeo scene never fails to capture all the excitement, misconceptions and angst that go hand-in-hand with the Calhoun’s special brand of unity.
Take a ride with Ryder and his enchanting Joy; the edge of your seat, nail-biting tension is worth every bit of sizzling hot breathlessness you will endure as these exceptional people surrender to desire and find a happiness that they didn’t know was missing.
Ryder is the carefree bull rider of the Calhoun family and has zero interest in settling down until he meets Joy. Growing up in the rodeo, she has no desire to get involved with a cowboy.
Lucky for us, sometimes what you think you don't want is what you need the most!
Rodeo action , romance, competition , sex , sex , sex , family all packed into a satisfying fairly quick read . Love Joy and Ryder and their love story in the second installment and now I can hardly wait for book number three! Good book .
I loved the relationship between Ryder and Joy!! So hot and heated when they are alone!! And I love in the first 2 books in this series really focus on family and how important it is to be there for each other.
