A serial killer has the top Republican presidential candidate in his crosshairs, and NYPD detectives Pete Nazareth and Tara Gimble race the clock in the most complex case of their careers. The action takes place inside the Staten Island Greenbelt -- 2,800 acres of woodlands where a sniper and his rifle rule the night.

I recieved this book free in exchange for a review. HUNTING IN THE ZOO:A DETECTIVE PETE NAZARETH NOVEL BY R.H. JOHNSON. WOW just doesnt begin to describe the fast paced wild ride of the second novel featuring Det.Nazareth. Kick ass is more like it! The pace never stops, it just keeps getting crazier and crazier.
Stone Jackson, formerly of the US military has a grudge to settle with one Drill Sgt & anyone who gets in his way is going to get the crap beat out of him or dead!
Nazareth & his partner/soon to be ex partner, have their own issues. They are the darlings of NYPD & they get the tough cases. Nothing is more tougher for them than babysitting a GOP candidate while he's in NY
The first book of Mr Johnson's WIDOW TAKER introduced us to the two detectives, this novel goes a step further and shows just how much fame can get you into to trouble especially if you are cops in NY.
I thought Mr. Johnson did a perfect job of this book and if you like your "police" novel mysteries fast, furious and at breakneck speed I highly recommend HUNTING IN THE ZOO!
Clearly trying to draw comparisons between President Trump and a warmongering Republican presidential candidate who gets badmouthed by the heroes the whole book through. Here's a #MAGA just for you, annoying biased author.
The antagonist was molested as a child and comes back to get revenge, but is still painted as the bad guy despite riddng society of several pieces of trash he takes out to cover the tracking of his enemy. Common sense would have the author showing some sympathy for his side, but no. You have to admit law enforcement is secretly relieved when something happens to these POS so they don't get to live out their years safely in a cushy jail. Society sure is.
Oh look--out of nowhere comes another bad guy who conveniently rids the world of another jerk politician. But this one comes from thin air and goes right back there. Saw no reason for this twist.
And at the end, a highly trained military veteran goes down ridiculously easy against a detective.
Irritating and made no sense. Won't be reading any more from this author.
Third book in this series did not disappoint. Fast and we'll plotted. Surprises kept coming. Very entertaining. Very believable. Can't wait for next installment of Pete and Tara. Goof job.
Pete and Tara are charged with finding The Gabriel Killer far from their normal Mid Town Manhattan precinct. While searching for the killer, they are also asked to keep a presidential hopeful safe at his rally. I really enjoy this whole series about Nazareth and Gimble the top detectives in the NYPD. Well written and the plot is realistic. I would highly recommend this series.
Another great adventure for Detectives Nazareth and Gimble. Russ skillfully wove a tale of mystery and intrigue that gradually led up to the convergence of the various characters to a single presidential rally and unsuspected ending. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great detective story. The characters are very well defined, you will either love or hate them. The storyline is great with a nice easy flow. The facts behind the story are well researched, again great story. I am look forward to the next book in the series.
I know Grande!! This book is a must read. I couldn't put it down. But true of all this series. This book is particularly important today. It's up to day with our crazy world. Please READ!
This the third book in this series. The first two were very well written. This one is even better. The fictional presidential candidate is a perfect caricature of the current Republican standard bearer, only not quite as outlandish. The depiction of the Staten Island topography and its denizens is also spot on. Let's hope there is a 4th book being worked on .
Excellent third book in the crime series. Very fast pace, and very timely because of the presidential candidate who plays a major role. Looking forward to the next one.
