Research scientist, Brooke Buchanan, has agreed to spend a year studying the wildlife of a remote Scottish region. Alone in a wooden cabin with only her dog for company, she is determined not to be scared. But what she eventually finds living out there in the lonely woods shocks her to the core.
Sexy wolf shifter, Drew, knows the curvaceous female will be trouble, but he can't resist her amazing scent. He seduces Brooke, and they spend a hot and sensual night together, but Drew wants more. He wants Brooke as his mate.
Disturbed by all she's discovered, and overwhelmed by her intense feelings for the charismatic Drew, Brooke panics and runs.
Can Drew find her before it is too late?
**This book was first released in the Shifters Gone Alpha boxset, and has been added to, containing bonus scenes and a new ending.
I'm a UK based author who loves to read and write all things romance. As Skye Jones I write steamy paranormal romance that ranges from light and fun to dark and gritty.
As S.R. Jones I write darker contemporary romance and romantic suspense.
I live in Yorkshire, and get lots of inspiration from the windswept moors, the old stone buildings and the Celtic myths of this fair isle.
My dogs are my favourite people, and I'm quite fond of my husband too. I love chocolate and starbucks mochas and keep meaning to give them up for a life as a svelte fashion plate - it never happens!
Technically these are wereshifters, rather than werewolves, but in either case, that lonely woodcutter's cottage in the Scottish Highlands can be a dangerous place for a female researcher named Brooke, with all the right (or wrong) pheromones.
Suitably gorgeous werehero Drew is there to protect her... or is he?
Disclaimer: I'm acquainted with the author via social media.
This novella is nicely snarky and funny: "I've had sex. If you want some kind of virginal waif, you might need to invent a time machine." Sex scenes are hot, and there are some interesting twists for it being such a short story. I'll be reading the rest of this yummy series.
This is book 1 in a new paranormal romance series, Shifters of the Glen. It has some exciting characters but the story is a little predictable. Set in Scotland, science researcher Brooke meets wolf shifter Drew. He is the son of the alpha and knows that Brooke is his mate. She is abducted by a rogue wolf when she goes into the woods to find Drew after she sends him away. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
So If you want a short read with parts of the book leaving you hanging, then this is for you. I'm not saying it wasn't a good read, but I'm still in question about things. I'm a person who likes to know whats going on and why. Maybe when the books progress I will get an explanation, but for now this book is 3 stars.
Brooke is a scientist working in a secluded area in the woods. She's staying in a cabin with no neighbors at all. At night when she goes to sleep she hears tapping at her window. When she calls the ranger to inspect the sounds she realizes there is no tree by her window. She also notices foot prints as well. The next night she hears the same noise and whispers to herself only to be answered by someone else in the room. When she turns on the light. She sees a gorgeous hunk of a man. He says his name is drew and he's a wolf shifter. Drew wants to mate Brooke. So does all the rogue wolves whom have been sniffing and watching her through the window. When he asks her to mate him she says yes. Not knowing what mating surely means. Can these two work this mating out? Or is Brooke walking away from drew? Need to read.Great story
Brooke is alone in the wilderness doing research. Something is stalking her. She use to dream of a witch when she was younger. There are eerie sounds waking her at night. Then one night a voice speaks to her in the dark. Is Drew here to save her from been hunted by the unknown or is Drew the unknown. Get start to an awesome series. I look forward to the next books to come.
Wolves at the Door: BBW Wolf Shifter Romance (Shifters of the Glen Book 1) by Skye Jones is a sizzling novella that should not be overlooked. When Brooke Buchanan takes a job studying wildlife, she never would have thought she’d meet the sexy wolf shifter, Drew. The author shows her distinct personality in the words she writes, her strong voice making every word count. The story is sensual and suspenseful, romantic yet frightening. I can’t wait to read the next installment!
Liked the book but wished it had been a little longer to really develop the characters more. Need more of the history of the wolf clan and a little more of the heroine's backstory. It was still a good read just raced through everything. Should have realized with only 69 pages you do not have time to develop the story that much. This is really more of a prequel to the rest of the series. I hope the rest of the books will build on Drew and Brooke's (Rua as he calls her) story too.
I chose to read and review this book. This one is fucking amazing. It is well written and the flow between characters and chapters rocks. I loved the main characters. I know this one isn't that long but it has everything that will keep you glued to it. It is filled with romance sexy hotness suspense and action. I recommend this one. I can't wait to read the rest. I know I will love them if they anything like this sexy beast of a book.
I love everything shifter. But this book can be read in an hour. How the heck can you meet your shifter, have sex, and end up mated for life in a weekend? Totally disappointed in this author. I don't recommend this book to anyone, don't waste your time it's not worth it.
I liked Wolves at the Door for the most part. Ms. Jones has a great voice. The plot was interesting and I liked the characters. Unfortunately, the story was just too short. The relationship between Brooke and Drew felt rushed and that made the characters less realistic for me. I enjoyed the novella enough to read the next story in the Shifters in the Glen series.
I began thinking this could become interesting but, sad to say, it just failed to provide enough. Characters were blurry to me. I just couldnt get to a good understanding of any of them. To me best one was Sandy, the dog. Story was lacking something. I'm not sure what let it down, though. Maybe a much more extended story would have been better.
This is the first I've read in this type of book and was enchanted. It is almost like reading Little Red Riding Hood in an adult version. I really loved how the book flowed and the different twist that was put on mating with a shapeshifter, skinwalker, or any other translation of changing from human to wolf.
Brook is a researcher in the outer region of Scotland. She's forced awake by scratching noises her first night. The second night she discovers Drew. She agrees to "mate" with him not fully understanding. Then proceeds to try and leave. Gets caught by rouge, then rescued. Pretty much sums it up in a shorter shirt novella.

This was a really cute story of Drew and Brook. How they came to be together as mates. I have always love happy endings and this one ended with an awesome happy ending! Can't wait to read more. Would so recommend this to other paranormal romance readers of shifters.
This is another shifter story. Have a lot of them saved on my Kindle. They are quick reads with interesting paranormal activity throughout. If that sort of story is of interest I think you will like it.
This was a good book with a little folklore mystery and romance. It was a shorter read with a quick ending. I do like this author so I will read more books.
