A good collection of simple stories to help you learn Spanish. The plots of the stories are not very complex and after every paragraph is an English translation. A nice supplement to more traditional lessons to help you learn Spanish once you know the basics.
A fairly decent collection of short stories that aren't too difficult to read, although the plots are not the best either. This is a good collection for brushing up or learning Spanish.
If you already read Spanish fluently then these stories will annoy you. They get annoying anyway, but are helpful as intended. I was reading much faster by the end and looking up less vocabulary.
This is a bit difficult to rate. As a learning experience I felt it was quite good, but as literature it left something to be desired. It is possible to offer both as Juan Fernández demonstrates in his books. Nevertheless, even though the stories may not quite be "captivating" they are good enough to do the job. Since the learning experience is primary in this kind of book I'll go with four stars.
