"Could there be two sweeter, more lovable characters out there?" Wicked Good Reads of Slim and Erin in Desire After Dark

Tobias “Slim” Jackson has the perfect life as a pilot on Gansett Island in the summer and in Florida in the winter. He’s happiest when he’s in the air, or at least that was the case before last summer when he met Erin Barton, Gansett Island’s newest lighthouse keeper. Now he can’t seem to find his usual enthusiasm for flying, winter in the sunny South or anything that doesn’t include her.

Erin has been stuck on pause since she lost her twin brother. She’ll tell you herself that her life has been a hot mess since Toby died. After dropping out of law school, she’s flitted from one pointless job to another, existing rather than truly living. Then she comes to Gansett Island to take over as the new lighthouse keeper and meets Slim, who happens to share her beloved brother’s first name. That small coincidence is enough to convince Erin that she needs to spend more time with the dashing pilot—except for the fact that he’s spending the winter more than a thousand miles from her.

Now Slim’s come home to Gansett for the holidays and to hopefully pick up where he left off with Erin. He’s got twelve days before he’s due back in Florida to finish out the remainder of his winter obligations. A lot can happen in twelve days, but will it be enough to convince Erin that it’s time to start truly living again? Read Slim and Erin’s story and catch up with the rest of the Gansett Island cast in Desire After Dark!

I'm actually quite glad I didn't read this back in May as it has a bit of a festive theme running through it so for me, reading it on the run up to Christmas, snuggled up on the sofa with a Bailey's coffee and the fire on was perfection.

description

As always, Marie Force crams a whole lot of romance into Desire After Dark and whilst the story centralises around Gansett Island's lighthouse keeper, Erin Barton and sexy pilot, Slim Jackson, there are plenty shenanigans being had by the rest of the residents, lifting it exactly when needed. Because Erin's past is heartbreaking: she lost her twin brother on 9/11 and a part of her died with him.

"People don’t get to our age without baggage."

This couple were lovely together and Slim's patient, positive, gentle nature quickly won me over. There's no questioning if he and Erin would find their HEA, the question is how with Erin terrified of loving and losing again.

"...when I look at you, I don’t see grief or loss. I see resilience and fortitude and a stunningly beautiful woman who deserves to be happy after all she’s been through."

For all the moments that had me snivelling, there were just as many that had me crying with laughter and this is precisely the reason that 16 books down the line I'm looking forward to more. This series takes me to my happy place: with a hefty dose of weddings, babies and engagements they can be a little saccharine and stereotypical on occasion, but the McCarthy's are family and spending time with them takes you away from all the crap that's going on in the world: we all need that.

I’ve fallen for Marie Force’s writing in the Green Mountain series, and her knack for making small towns and big families so appealing. I’ve only read one of the McCarthys of Gansett Island series, and it was some time ago, but I enjoyed getting back on the island, and falling into one of Ms. Force’s delicious romances.

Erin Barton has lived through the epic tragedy of losing her twin brother in 9/11. Still, fifteen years later she has periods of darkness and hang-ups. Struggles with OCD (although, her case seemed to be mild), fear of flying, and the worry that anything good in her life will be snatched away continue to plague Erin. Slim Jackson, the sexy pilot who rescued her after she twisted an ankle last summer, seems too good to be true, but the last four months they’ve been separated they’ve been keeping in touch every single day through texts and Face Time, and Erin begins to fall hard. Slim’s coming back to the island for the holidays so they’ll have twelve days to figure out if they truly have something worth a go.

Slim’s never felt the desire to commit or settle down, but sweet, sexy, cautious Erin has him changing his mind. He was taken with her from the moment they first met and his desire has only grown in the months they’ve got to know each other. Slim knows Erin has some fears and doubts, but he’s hoping their twelve days together will convince her to take a chance on him and love.

Ms. Force makes the pages sizzle with Erin and Slim’s hot and sweet romance! Even though I found Erin’s hang-ups a little trying at first, I could understand how someone could get stuck in the emotional rut she did. Slim was patient, understanding, and irresistible! I had little doubt Erin would succumb to this sexy pilot and his push for more.

Even though I’ve only read Janey and Joe’s story some time ago, I enjoyed all the other romances contained in Desire After Dark, the sexy times they shared, humor and high jinks. I hardly noticed I hadn’t been in on their original stories. I’m sure any fan of the McCarthys of Gansett Island series will adore Erin and Slim’s romance in addition to all the updates on past couples. The strong bonds between family and friends were very moving.

I am always honored, lucky and thrilled to beta read for Marie Force, and her 14th installment to the Gansett Island Series was a pleasure as well. It's Slim and Erin's love story and it's a great addition. Fun-filled with lots of charming and witty banter, along with a perfect match between two marvelously drawn characters, and a full and well-rounded update on all our island favorites. You won't want to miss out on the fun, laughter, love & romance that just keeps getting better and better. Fly away with Slim and Erin on a vacation in paradise on Gansett Island.

I have only read one other book by Marie Force, although I admit, I have had this series on my TBR for a long time. THE WRECK was a stand alone and I absolutely loved it. This book is part of a huge series---book #15! I liked the synopsis and decided to jump right in without having read the rest of the Gansett Island series.

So there in lies a fatal mistake. Although the writing was impeccable and the characters likable in every way, I felt like I had walked in on a private conversation and everyone stopped talking as soon as I came in the room! The story is about "Slim" and Erin. The couple have a platonic history but have been texting and face timing for the past few months. When the holidays roll around, it looks like they may be ready to move the relationship forward.

I enjoyed getting to know these two. What was difficult to handle was the catching up with everyone else on the Island. Sometimes chapters flew by and we didn't get to see what the lead couple was up to. I am sure if I had read the rest of the series, I would be more invested in the rest of the McCarthys. As it was, there are so many of them, it was hard to keep track of who was who and who was married to whom. We also catch up with Slim and Erin half way into their relationship. There is no slow lead up to romance. They know each other and again, it felt like I was peeking in on them in a private moment and not knowing what got them to this point.

Fans of the author will most likely eat this one up. It is my typical favorite--one big epilogue, catching up with everyone. But because of the history of the series, I couldn't get invested in what was happening here.

So Marie Force made me cry, not once, not twice...hell, I lost count how many times I cried during Desire After Dark and before you ask, crying while reading isn't an unusual occurrence for me, but crying this much during one book is pretty epic. Please don't get me wrong, this book was amazingly wonderful and there were plenty of happy, fun, and of course a few crazy ones, but oh so many feels and yes, I cried happy tears as well as sad ones. While this was the love story of Slim Jackson, Gansett Island's summer pilot and lighthouse keeper Erin Barton we see a whole lot of the McCarthy clan as well as many other island residents and there's a lot of change going on in all of their lives. Desire After Dark gives readers everything they've come to expect from author Marie Force: fun, laughter, tears, love and a whole lot of sexy times.

Months after the kiss that lit both Slim and Erin on fire and right before Slim left for his winter job in Florida these two are back together again with a couple of weeks to spent time together over the Christmas holidays. I've always been intrigued by Slim (probably because he's a pilot) and Erin who was a bit of a mystery, but the way Slim jumped in to help her and forced her out of her safety bubble was not only interesting but gave us a little insight in to both of these characters.

I appreciated that Slim was patient and spent the months he's been gone talking, texting and Skyping with Erin and getting to know her somewhat better. As he puts himself firmly into her life with her permission it becomes obvious that there is something growing between them. It was interesting seeing Erin's inner turmoil as she realizes that Slim makes her want to be different and makes her yearn for more out of her life. Slim was a bit puzzled by the strange feelings, but as he's watched all of his single friends pair off and get married he realizes that he is ready to accept love in his life. I loved watching them spend time and enjoying the holidays with each other and various island residents all while trying to figure out where their relationship is going, especially knowing Slim must return to Florida after the holidays. Slim proves time and time again that he's stable, patient, kind and a man willing to do anything for his woman and watching Erin begin to trust not only him but herself was a thing of beauty.

I have loved this series and these characters for so long and Desire After Dark was pretty magical on multiple levels and on top of it all two people found a love neither one expected. What more could you want in a romance?

First off this is the first book I've read be Marie Force and this won't be me last. Desire After Dark read just like I was watching a soap opera and I love ever single page.

"I seem to have fallen completely and absolutely in love with at some point in the last four months."

Erin is in charge of running the lighthouse on Gansett Island and has been since she moved to Gansett after her twin brother Toby was killed during 9/11.

Since her twin brother's death Erin has been battling some of her demons. She has become OCD, afraid to fly and has become distant and withdrawn from letting new people into her life let alone her heart. However that all changes when Slim appears in her life.

Slim is a pilot who is from Ganett Island but now when he isn't flying he now spends his summers in Gansett island and his winters in Florida.

For the last 4 months Slim and Erin have been getting to know each other long distance. However that all changes when Slim comes to Ganett Island for the holiday's. Will Slim be able to help Erin move past the death of her twin brother and allow him to get to really know her? Will Erin see Slim as someone to take a chance on or just a close friend?

My lips are sealed!

Marie Force is a new author to me and so when I was given the opportunity to read her newest installment to The McCarthys of Gansett Island, I was a bit nervous and excited. Nervous in the sense that I knew going into this book that Desire After Dark is the 15th book in the series and I wasn’t sure if I would be able to connect with the characters since this is my first book of hers but that wasn’t the case with this book at all.

Desire After Dark was one of those reads that easily transports any readers to the sights and sounds of Gansett Island where you could easily understand why romance happened to brew between two strangers. Do you believe in fate and that love heals? If so, then this book is for you. Ms. Force introduces readers to Erin, a young woman who has lost hope and is searching to find herself. Walls have been put up and love was something that wasn’t in her horizon. That is until Slim walked into her life and changed everything. The walls that surrounded Erin’s heart soon begins to crumble and the once numb heart of hers begins to beat again bringing forth a new desire and love. Can love heal? And the answer is YES!!!

I will just say after reading this book, this will not be the last book I read from this author. I love how Ms. Force slowly allowed readers to FEEL for her characters and bring a sense of light and understanding in their lives. So if you are looking for a book that highlights hope, second chances, love, and healing then I highly recommend you to read this book. Ms. Force beautifully highlights and brings forth a romance with her elegant prose that love does indeed heal.

Slim is such a part of this Gansett island family. As the pilot called on by his friends and other island families and visitors, he has participated in getting quite a few people to and from the island in many emergencies.

Erin is the new lighthouse keeper replacing her sister friend, Jenny Martinez, since she married Alex and now works at the green house with her husband. Erin has suffered the traumatic loss of her twin brother, Toby, in the 9/11 attacks and has become a different person. She is fearful and OCD now where she was not before the attacks. She has been accepted and pulled into the fold of the Gansett families.

Sam and Erin had met each other when she had a flat tire on her bike and then twisted her ankle becoming stranded on one of the island's roads one night. Slim came by and took her home and slept there in the chair incase she needed something. That is exactly how this story began.

Now, home for Addy and Adam's wedding and Christmas he wants to see where this thing with Erin is going, after all they have been texting and calling pretty much every day since went to Florida for his winter obligations. Soon they both find that it is so much more than they thought but since the loss of her brother she is having a difficult time committing to the more even though she really wants to. And how do you tell the man you're falling for, who's a pilot, that you are now deathly afraid of flying and having been on a plane since before that fateful day?

Slim who has never wanted more with any woman is coming to learn that it is the woman that makes the decision easy. If he could just understand why Erin seems like she doesn't want it as much or the same way as he does.

Things change though when Erin's mom calls early one morning and it is necessary for Erin to get on the plane to go home because her father is in the ER and undergoing emergency surgery for an aneurysm. Slim learns about the fear of flying and with no judgment, while making sure she knows things will be okay he will take care of her gets her to let him fly her to PA so she can be with he dad.

I'm not going to tell you the rest or the ending of this because you'll want to read it for yourself, I promise.

Also in this book is Adam and Abby's wedding, as well as, Grace and Evan's wedding. And the boys get into serious trouble with the women after pulling a prank on them. It's too funny with this band of friends and family and their hijinks.

This book is a mixture of incredible sadness that leads to strength and overcoming fears, to happiness and happiness that becomes contagious.

This is a first Marie Force read for me. And how about that, I start with the latest in what appears to be an ongoing series. For someone who prefers to read in sequence, I suppose I’m making myself out to be a liar by starting on the 15th book (15th!) of the series. O well…

This is such a nice light easy read. You have more mature MCs who have had life experiences. Their emotions and thoughts felt real and relatable. Their relationship progressed nicely and realistically. Nothing felt off at all.

Because this is now the 15th book, there were tons of side characters that clearly had their own stories told in the previous books, and some of them were given pages. So it felt like I’m reading several epilogues to cap each of their stories or witness their lives after they got their HEAs. Either that, or I’m reading sorta’ a prologue or introduction to the future stories for some of them. There are so many couples it was a tad hard to keep track of all of them. It felt like being a last-minute invitee to a family reunion and you’re meeting everyone all at once. Nonetheless, a nice feeling to have still been invited, KWIM, to this fun party.

The interactions did not only feel real but also quite humorous, the kind of humor you witness among close friends and family, so that was quite heartwarming.

Overall, for me, it was a nice introduction to this world that Marie has created. Hopefully, I’ll have the chance to go back and read the others’ stories. I do own some of them. Now if only I can find more time… #bookwormproblems

I did finish this book, finally, but it wasn't very exciting and I skimmed a lot. The 9/11 Toby situation is sad but it was already told. I like seeing previous characters updates but not mentally recapping old issues. Most of this story was the heroine ruminating on her weaknesses. Pilot 'Slim' is home for the holidays and his attraction to lighthouse keeper Erin is as strong as ever.

Rounding up to 4 stars.

“Baby, being happy with you is like breathing–the easiest thing I’ve ever done.”

Desire After Dark is the fourteenth book in the Gansett Island Series. Told from multiple points of view, this story can be read as a stand-alone, but I would definitely recommend checking out the previous books in this series for full enjoyment.

Desire After Dark follows the story of Slim and Erin. Slim is happiest when he’s flying and loves living part time on Gansett Island. Everything was going just the way he wanted….that is until Erin enters the picture. Now, flying doesn’t spark his interest and happiness as much. All he can think about is the mysterious new Lighthouse keeper, Erin….Erin has just been going through the motions in life. She’s been stuck in the past, unable to move on ever since her brother passed away. Coming to Gansett Island was just the change she was looking for…that is until she meets Slim. When Slim and Erin share an unexpected kiss, that kiss has the power to change everything. At first the two just chat and text each other. But, when Slim returns to Gansett Island for the holidays, all bets are off. He’s determined to see where this “thing” with Erin will go. Only problem, he’s got just 12 days until he has to return back to Florida. 12 days may not seem like much, but a lot can change in such a short amount of time. Will Slim be able to bring Erin back to the land of the living? You’ll just have to read for yourself to find out.

Overall, I really enjoyed Desire After Dark. This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed her writing style. I thought this story was a lot of fun and entertaining. I loved the connection and banter between Erin and Slim. I was excited to see where their story would go. Their story was filled with a lot of love and good times.

The only problem that I had is that while this can be read as a stand-alone, there was a lot of time spent with previous characters. Usually that’s not an issue for me, however, I really struggled with it in this book for some reason. I don’t know if it was because there was so many different characters telling their story or maybe it was just me. I can’t really say. I just felt like even though this was Erin and Slim’s story, there was just too many side stories going on.

Other than that issue, I really liked this book and that’s why I am giving it four stars. I thought it was fun and sexy. Desire After Dark was well written and held my attention the entire time. I really liked Erin and Slim. I enjoyed watching them fall in love. This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed her writing style, so I’m looking forward to going back and reading this series from the very beginning.

I have read a few books by this author but this is the first one I have read in this series. I was not quite sure if I would be able to jump right into this book due to the beginning introduction by the author mentioning that "sometimes we have to go back to go forward". So seeing as to the fact that this is book fifteen in this series, I did not have a lot of hopes that I would be able to fully enjoy this book. Plus, the fact that the other books I have read by this author were more romantic suspense novels.

At first it did take me about four chapters into the story to actually warm up to not just Slim and Erin but the rest of the Gansett Island cast. Everyone I was introduced to I liked. They are a fun crowd to hang out with and very inviting. I shared laughs with everyone. No one played second string in this book. I am going to go back and start at the beginning of this series as I had an enjoyable time reading this book. I can't wait to read Mallory story.

Slim and Erin have very different lives. Erin has fallen in love with Gansett Island and can't stand the thought of getting on board a plane, whereas Slim divides his time between the island and Florida while he works as a pilot. Despite their differences, a compelling attraction pulls them together after their initial meeting months ago. Both were looking forward to Slim's vacation over the holidays to really explore where their relationship could go.

Marie Force provides an fun, sweet, emotional, and sexy small town contemporary romance. Fans of the McCarthys of Gansett Island will appreciate the return of favorite couples and families. Desire After Dark can be read as a standalone book in the series.

I love this series. Slim and Erin's story was heartwarming, sweet and sexy.

Having the rest of the McCarthy family be a big part of this book made me squeal with happiness. I laughed hysterically over Mac's antics. It's like visiting old friends. It's always a treat. I can't wait for the next visit to Gansett Island.

Desire After Dark is Erin and Slim's story. Slim is the Gansett Island's sexy pilot and Erin is the town's lighthouse keeper. These two had a lot to overcome with her OCD and fears that she struggles with. Since her twin brother died in 9/11 Erin has been terrified of living. Her biggest fear was of flying and Slim is a pilot, he makes his living flying. I love Slim he was funny and caring. He was so patient with Erin, he helped her overcome her fears and live again. It was also awesome to catch up on characters from previous books. Gansett is gonna be crowded soon. Can't wait for Mallory's story that is up next. I'm so excited to see who she falls in love with!!

Review originally appeared on Reflections of a Book Addict: http://wp.me/p18lIL-2G5

Several years ago I was scavenging on the Barnes & Noble website for a new nook book to read. I stumbled upon Maid for Love by Marie Force and was transported to a tiny New England island called Gansett Island, which was modeled after Block Island.  I read Maid for Love in a night, downloaded the next books available in the series (6), and proceeded to read them all over the next two days. Since Maid for Love I've downloaded each new book on its release day and completely devoured it. Yesterday, Force released the 15th book in the series (!!!) Desire after Dark.  All I can say is, what a wonderful return to Gansett Island! Every new book in the series feels like a homecoming. Each book and each love story given to us is another glimpse into the lives of our Gansett family, because that's what this group of characters has become, family. We've been with them as they've found love, started families, dealt with miscarriages, abusive parents, new career paths, divorces, and grief. Just when you think you've experienced everything possible with them, Force surprises us and gives us something new to love.

Plot from Goodreads:

If you're new to the Gansett Island series, I highly recommend starting with Maid for Love and working your way through the series and ending with this fantastic latest installment. I know that 15 books may seem daunting, but trust me, it's worth the wait. Each book acts as an additional chapter to the overall story of the island and its inhabitants, and you get the opportunity to revisit couples from previous books as time passes. Force does a wonderful job immersing the reader in the story, and before you know it the books fly by. This new work is no exception.

Erin and Slim's story is yet another wonderful chapter to the Gansett series. When I first learned about Jenny (the heroine of Meant for Love) and Erin's past and the substantial amount of grief that existed in their lives I wanted so badly for them to find their happy-ever-afters. They are such beautifully strong women, and the men who love them treat them like the queens they are. They are showered with so much love and desire that they can't help but fight against it for fear from their past losses. Thankfully Slim and Alex fight through their grief and prove to them how wonderful love can be.

Not only was Erin and Slim's story a pure joy to read, I was SO excited to get more of Owen & Laura, Grace & Evan, and David & Daisy. Force is a master at giving you JUST enough of the other couples and rotating the focus of each new book so as to never feel like you're missing out on anything important in their lives. Sweet, romantic, and fun, this is the perfect read to get you in the mood for summer!

I received a copy of this story for an honest review.

What I Loved: Desire After Dark is a sweet romance with a touching story about healing and embracing happiness after overcoming life changing events. Erin and Slim are both mature characters and I appreciated the care the two characters gave to each other and the investment in their possible future together. Also I have to give props to Marie Force for addressing mental illness respectfully and referencing the need for professional help.

What I Didn't Love: I'm new to the wold of Marie Force and The McCarthy's of Gansett Island series. Even though Desire After Dark is a stand alone I frequently felt lost with the multitude of characters whose POV's were interwoven with Slim and Erin's love story. The frequent jumps between characters was a bit distracting. A chart to help show how the various characters are connected may have helped clarify confusion for new readers.

Favorite Quotes:

"We're smart enough now to know that when we click with someone, really click the way you and I have, it's something to hold on to, something to value."

"For a very long time my life has been spinning out of control. When I'm with you, the spinning stops. I thought you should know that."

"Baby, being happy with you is like breathing - the easiest thing I've ever done."

Fans who like their romance with strong emphasis on friends and family would do well to check out Desire After Dark.

Happy reading.

REVIEW

*May contain spoilers *

New to me author.

I am beginning this book knowing there are 13 previous books in this series.
However, it felt like a stand-alone which is a rarity is. Tobias met Erin on a previous visit to Gansett Island for a wedding and they hit it off and have kept in contact every since.
Erin has been living life in a haze of sorts after a tragedy happened. She moved to Gansett Island after a long time friend asked her. She is living in a lighthouse of all things and life is finally looking promising.
Tobias aka Slim is coming to town for about twelve days and he has one thing on his mind. Will Erin get on-board?

This couple was so sweet, caring, and oh so romantic. I enjoyed the entire book and read it in one setting. I love these kinds of romance books and hope to read the previous books in the series as many of those characters are mentioned in this book.
The story is well plotted, the book is well written and I loved all of the characters.

I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is one of a long series, with many families intertwined in marriage and relationships. I have read a number of them, but I must admit not all. Sometimes I recognise that I may miss some nuance, but there are plenty of reminders of who is with who, and why! - so no real need to worry.

Although this book concentrates on Erin and Slim, we in fact get lots of loose ends tied up and plenty of fun and family times, as well as some hot and steamy snippets of couples at play. Erin has been hiding away for a long time, and needed someone very special to break through some heavily reinforced barriers - it is such a pleasure watching Slim do exactly that - and even she is rooting for him to succeed! All of the books in the series are different, each character brings their own issues to the island, and each solution is different - except in that the love of someone special can make all the difference. This is a great reminder of that - and of how life is for the living...

Thank you Ms Force for another winning book in the series.

4.5 Star Review of Desire After Dark (The McCarthy’s of Gansett Island #15) by Marie Force

This is book 15 in the hugely successful The McCarthy’s of Gansett Island series and is the story of Tobias “Slim” Jackson and Erin Barton.

Slim has a great life. During the summer months he is a pilot on Gansett Island and in the winter he works in Florida/

Erin is the new lighthouse keeper on Gansett Island and since the death of her twin brother has avoided life.

When she meets Slim whose first name is the same as her beloved dead brother, Erin sees it as a sign that perhaps she should get back into the land of the living and starts spending time with Slim.

They are attracted to each other and have an easy camaraderie which I found a lot of fun to read about. When Slim returns to Gansett Island for the holidays his hope is to pick up where he left off with Erin. But will Erin be able to brave the emotions that Slim evokes and start living again? That is the question.

It is always great to read a new story about Gansett Island, it’s like coming home to your family as you get to catch up with what is going on in their lives.

This book as with others in the series was an extremely well written, sweet, sexy and romantic book. A fantastic addition to the series.

The author is semi new to me and this is a semi new series to me , as well. This is the Gansett Island Series and this is book # 14 in the series. Yes. There are mentions of previous characters in this book but it felt like a standalone in the series.
In this book, we meet Erin , who has come to Gansett Island after a horrible tragedy had gone on in her life. Her good friend recommends the island and here she is. Then she ends up taking the lifehouse as her place to live. She ends up feeling better than she has felt in a long time. Then she meets Tobias aka “Slim” . He flies planes and he spends his Summers on Gansett Island and his Winters in Florida. They had a beautiful time and soon it was time for Slim to leave ; during this time, we see Erin has slowly gotten better from the tragedy that ruled her life. Slim wants all of her heart not realizing that he already has it and that he , too, has lost his heart to her. It takes him realzing something for him to come back to her sooner rather than later.

I Loved the message of this book and how Erin and Slim completed each other . They made this was wonderful story.
My rating: 4.0 stars ****

I was floored and honored to have the opportunity to review the latest book in the Gansett Island Series by Marie Force. The entire series is amazing, with characters you immediately love and bond with. In this story the focus is on Erin, lighthouse keeper and Slim, summertime Pilot on the island. As always throughout the story you catch up with other characters and couples, gaining more insight on what is happening in the lives of the people fans of this series hold near and dear to our hearts.

Erin is struggling with demons so ingrained in her for the past 15 years that you are not sure just how a relationship with Slim with happen. Well, Ms. Force has named this relationship realistic, believable and beautiful. I adore every character she writes and that is no different in this story. You absolutely must grab this book and read it as soon as it is released!

You will also see all your favorites but get some detailed updates on many couples, and even finally see a wedding that has been anticipated for a number of books now! So do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this amazing book!

Having only read one other book in this series it was nice to see that Marie went and revisited some of the other characters from time to time. Although you do not need to read the others to follow along with this book as you do catch on to who each person is rather quickly it would have been nice to know their stories. Now I know I have a list ahead of me of more books by Marie to read so i can catch up with everyone.

Slim and Erin are very likable characters whom you can see yourself being friends with and having fun. They are are both loyal, loving and fun. You will be cheering them on from page one hoping that they get their HEA in the end. Slim is a very sexy man who is hard to not swoon over. With his job as a pilot its not a fear he has of committing to a woman but rather having not found that one person that makes him want ot have a commitment and connection to. With Erin He has that the chemistry between them is undeniable and they have this depth of love surrounding them with family and friends that its hard not to picture them together.

Will be going back to familiarize myself and get to know the rest of the Gansett Island couples very soon.

Even though this is the 15th book of the series it is actually the first one I have read. Despite this I wasn't confused and really enjoyed the book. I actually plan to read all the previous books eventually just to get even more details about the rest of the couples.
The story was fun and fast paced. There was a lot of great humor. Good romance and sexy times ;). Wonderful family and friends in the story. The kids were great, "naked boy-naked girl" LOL.
Erin Barton lost her twin brother in 9/11 and since then hasn't been able to fly, struggles with periods of bleakness, OCD, and constantly worrying something bad will happen. Despite her struggles she and Slim get closer and closer.
Tobias "Slim" Jackson is a pilot that lives on Gansett Island during the summer and in Florida during the winter. He and Erin have been talking daily for months while he has been in Florida and now he will be back on Gansett for 12 days.
A lot can happen in 12 days and Slim and Erin intend to make the most of the time they have.

Disclaimer: I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. The opinions I expressed are entirely my own.

This was my first time reading anything by Marie Force and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet story. Marie Force has given us a story story that sucks you in and keeps you there until the end ,and then leaves you wanting more from this author. Marie Force has written a brilliant story with fun, that's sweet, very emotional sexy romance. It's been 15 year since the tragedy that took her twin brother and left her heartbroken and everyday is a challenge for her to overcome fear that control her left .Slim and Erin are the perfect pair and belongs with each other. The story had me crying ,laughing ,and that to me makes a story .But when Slim returns to Gransett Island ,and all he wants is to really get to know Erin more on a personal leveler .But all Slim wants is to have all her heart ,but what he doesn't realize is he already has it , but at the sometime he has lost his to heart to her .Marie Force writes her characters like their are all part of a family ,I also like how she bough other characters in throughout this story. I could tell you more about this story ,but that would spoil it for you .I highly recommend that you read this story ,you won't be disappointed.

This story is about Erin, the light house keeper and "Slim" (Tobias). We got a glimpse of them in the last book!

Erin lost her twin brother on September 11th. Since then, her life has been put on hold. She dropped out of school and has had a countless number of jobs. She moves to Gansett Island and takes on the job of the lighthouse keeper.

Slim, is content with being single even though all of his friends are now either happily married or happily engaged. He spends his summers on the Island and his winters in Florida as a Pilot.

When "Slim" and Erin cross paths, fireworks are in the distance. She learns that Slim's real name is Tobias. Slim knows that Erin has had it rough in the past and is willing to do what it takes to prove to her that he is here to stay. Erin is starting to develop real feelings for this man but what will he say when Erin tells him that she hasn't been on a plane since her brother died.

Do Erin and Slim have what it takes to make this relationship work?

5/5!

Marie Force is a new author to me... YAY!! lol
I was asked by the publisher to read this book.. I said yes!
Then came to find out it was #14 in the series.. and I thought "Oh No!"
But honestly, even though there are characters from other books that are mentioned and are in scenes... this can totally be read as a stand alone! Which made me very happy!

This book features Erin and Tobias. Erin has suffered great tragedy and finds her way onto the island after a friend recommends it to her. Enter Tobias stage right. He is a summer regular to the island. They quickly connect and Erin is healing and feeling good as a summer romance will definitely help you feel that way.

But here is the kicker... Tobias is leaving... not only is he leaving the island and leaving Erin... He has yet to realize that he has left his heart on the island with Erin. Will he return to her, will he let her go?

Read on my friends to find out!!

Erin Barton met Tobias "Slim" Jackson last summer, during that time they have been exploring the chemistry via texts and phone calls. Now Slim has arrived in Gansett Island and they plan to see if there is more to be explored. Slim is like a hurricane coming into Erin's life, for the first time since she lost her brother she is stepping outside of the carefully erected wall she has surrounded herself with. Slim wants Erin to travel back to Florida with him to see how far their relationship can grow, but Erin is not sure she can let go of her fears and follow her heart.

Quickly paced, the chemistry between Erin and Tobias is immediate. I thought this was a whirlwind romance that never let up. I liked Erin a lot, felt for her and understood where she was coming from with her fears. Another great read from Marie Force.

Disappointed

I love everything by Marie. She engages you into the lives of the characters so well, except with this book. It feels like its starts in the middle. The main characters meet in a previous book, which I do not remember clearly. I am an avid reader, two to three books a week, I don't recall the start of the relationship of the main characters so the emotional connection isn't there for me. I also don't vividly remember the rest of the cast and there continued stories from the previous 14 books. It feels like the other couples take up more than half of this book. The storyline jumps around to so many relationships, I did not get fully invested in Erin and Slim. I am just disappointed.

This was my first book by this author and although it had me confused at the start, a list of all the Gansett island folk helped me keep on reading!

What I enjoyed about Slim and Erins story was the emotion, their connection and how things went for them! The whole family and friends were amazing! Such beautiful friends and combine that with their incredibly funny lol get togethers makes for an easy and entertaining read!

I loved how Erin came out of her shell with Slim and the things they divulge to one another was wonderful to see!! I certainly hope we hear more about them in the future!!
