As the youngest twin, all I've ever wanted was to contribute to my students, my community and my family.
The last thing I need is to get tied to a corporate hoax or the green eyed billionaire that comes along with it.
It's just too hard to resist him when he looks at me like that. I try to fight it, I try to say no. I try to back out, but I'm falling before I know what's happening...
This love thing could mean shady business...
A new billionaire romance from author Veronica Maxim! This is a standalone book with characters from the other Smyth Sisters Series. No cliffhangers.
This romance contains mature language and themes intended for 18+ audiences.
LOVER delivers a compelling billionaire romance that balances emotional depth with irresistible chemistry. Caroline’s grounded, compassionate nature makes her an easy heroine to root for, especially as she’s pulled into a world of corporate secrets and undeniable attraction. The push-and-pull between her desire to stay true to her values and the magnetic pull of the green-eyed billionaire creates steady tension that keeps the story engaging.
I especially enjoyed how the romance unfolds without rushing allowing trust, vulnerability, and emotional stakes to build naturally. The connection feels intense yet believable, making this a satisfying standalone read that fits seamlessly within The Smyth Sisters Series. A strong choice for readers who love alpha billionaires paired with smart, principled heroines
Caroline is a twin who couldn't be more different from her sister. She is strong, smart and works as a geologist. Enter Jordan, the classic billionaire who hires Caroline to perform a geological study for a new development his company is interested in building. Still under the thumb of his uncle, former CEO and major stock holder, Jordan deceives Caroline in reference to the reason she was hired. Jordan was frustrating because he never had the balls to stand up to his uncle who took pleasure in manipulating both him and Caroline. As an alpha male I expected him to at the very least challenge the uncle, but he was weak.
In chapter 11 I was a little put off during the sex scene because Caroline was described as being out in the sweltering heat of Brazil all day working when she returned to her hotel room covered in grime and sweat. Once she enters her room all of that is forgotten because Jordan is there waiting for her. They end up having sex throughout the night including him going down on her. It was difficult for me to read because I couldn't get past the fact that she never showered.
While I liked the characters together and enjoyed their journey, the story felt like something was missing. In an attempt to introduce book #2 in the series, this story felt unfinished.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book. It is one of the few books that I have read about a romance that has drama, a feisty woman, a billionaire, and sexual tension in. The story is about Caroline (a geologist) and Jordan (CEO of a fracking company and a billionaire) I found the story-line and plot well written, steady and compelling. The characters are passionate about what they believe in which ultimately led to sexual tension and then to a loving erotic scene. I would recommend this book to people that prefer a romance with a good story-line and a HEA.
Quick read! Car is smart, uptight & very stubborn but Mr. Cress is also smart & very determined. She's doesn't trust him but can she resist his magnetism, he's alpha--instantly drawn to her so rejection isn't in his vocabulary. Amazing the things a man will do to get the woman of his dreams.
