If you're interested in history, but get bogged down in excessive details, then this is the book for you. Fascinating facts, some humor, and a ton of facts to keep you engaged and wondering why we didn't learn more of this in school. An at times shocking account of WWI, I learned a ton and it whetted my appetite for more.

I decided to read this book because I wanted to have more factual background to the novels of Charles Todd. This book was humbling for how much suffering and death there was for these men and women who served during the war. The book gave facts about this War to end all wars. It is impossible to really understand how these men were so brave when their chance of living through th war was so slim. The book also gave me a greater understanding of the shell shock the men suffered and how difficult it was during a time when we didn't really understand it.

Lots of interesting facts. I wish there was more info about America's involvement. I really enjoyed the artwork and the layout of the book. I will probably read more books in the series because it keeps me reading. It is easy to start and stop this type of book.
