The Bingo Theory unites us all. Men are not from Mars and Women are not from Venus. We are all from Planet Earth. The traditional view of masculine and feminine energy is very black and white. If you are a woman, you are considered to be feminine, and similarly if you are man- you are considered to be masculine. This outdated and inadequate mindset has lead to a tremendous imbalance both internally in our lives, as well as externally in our world. The Bingo Theory breaks through this traditional gender-polarized idea of man and woman, by providing a new fresh view and understanding of masculine and feminine energies and the important role both of these energies play in our lives. Every single human on this planet has two energies living within the masculine and the feminine. The masculine energy helps us to operate in the outer world; it makes us strong, independent, and confident. The feminine energy, on the other hand, helps us love and connect to others. It’s what makes us creative and intuitive. In this book you will learn how to balance the masculine and feminine energies within you so that you can be a Bingo. What is a Bingo? A Bingo is a winning combination of both of masculine and feminine energies. This inner balance is crucial in order to have a better relationship with yourself, attract your perfect romantic partner, improve your existing relationship, as well as have a fulfilling career. In this book you • Discover the groundbreaking medical research that has proven that, biologically, we are all a blend of masculine and feminine strengths. • Take a quiz that helps you to determine if your strength energy is masculine or feminine. This alone is a huge eye opener. It will allow you to see clearly what amazing strengths you posses and will also highlight the areas you need to work on. • Learn simple, actionable tips to help you balance your energies. • Learn how to attract a Bingo relationship if you are single. • Learn how to transform your existing relationships (whether romantic or otherwise) using the principles of masculine and feminine energies.
I bought this book because I support Mimi and Alex through their social media accounts and I LOVE/USE their "5 minute Journal". Excellent tool for everyday life.
The book is a bit basic, not realistic, nor could I take it seriously. Her "four friends" are stereotypical characters you would find in a "Lifetime Movie", and not her real friends. Maybe she did not want me to take that literally, but I could not get past it. Silly. Read about 40% and had to say goodbye.
Mimi, I know you were coming from a great place, but I will stick to your travel vlogs instead. Stay blessed, and congratulations on your baby girl.
I highly appreciate the effort Mimi has put into her book, but I feel disappointed after reading it. Linguistically speaking, the book should definitely be revised - at times, it is quite disturbing to read it (I know the book was edited several times, but there is still quite much to improve). I am not going to judge how subjective or overgeneralising Mimi's concepts and conclusions are, but, although it was enjoyable to discover the major features of the four types of people, after reading the rest of the book, I was not able to collect all the ideas together so as to sum up what I have just read.
While Mimi talks about balance between the two energies, she could have maintained the balance in her tips as well - for example, when providing tips for Masculine Strength people, she adds a few pages describing how she herself balances her energy. Why not do the same for Feminine Strength people and explain, for example, how Alex manages his energy? In addition, the fact that the tips for the former energy type outnumber the latter may create an unfavourable impression on the reader, as if a Feminine Strength individual had fewer opportunities for personal growth.
Last but not least, the very last chapters confused me... I cannot imagine myself embarking on a career in which I would have to work deliberately for the sake of using my non-dominant Masculine energy most of the time (not to mention the fact that I have no interest in finance, law enforcement whatsoever). This contradicts what Mimi says about not letting the strength energy rot. Instead, I would go for bringing in smaller things into my teaching that would challenge me, make me more decisive, direct, and so on. Honestly, I would not even label teaching as the activity that Masculine Strength people only should undertake, but that's another story.
When I saw Mimi announce on her Instagram that this book was available world-wide, I knew I needed to get my hands on it. Why? I follow most of her work, as well as her husband Alex’s and I love what they represent; that dreams are achievable. Their life isn’t a dream because it seems perfect, but because it seems real. Whenever I look at Mimi’s pictures or her videos, I feel moved and happy. I feel inspired. I knew this book will, as with everything Mimi does, be of a lot of value to me. I didn’t have the patience to wait for the book to arrive, so I made my first ever Kindle purchase and without further ado, here’s my review of the book. When I started reading “The Bingo Theory”, one of the first things I noticed was the style of writing. I gathered that this had something to do with the fact that it was self-published. It did bother me a little but as I kept reading, the content really struck my curiosity. I wanted to figure out what my dominant energy was, and after finding that out, I needed to know what that would mean and how it has been affecting my life and finally how I could be more balanced. Once my curiosity ran out, so had the book. I found difficulty figuring out my dominant energy, as even from the 2 tests, it was a 50-50. But through the explanations, I figured that I had a female-dominant energy but it wasn’t black and white. I found myself relating to scenarios that weren’t directed towards my type, which is why I ended up reading the entire book, cover to cover. Although her ‘friends’ seem stereotypical, I still found them relatable and the tips presented for them are very useful as some of them were very new suggestions. I am an avid reader of self-help books and I found many suggestions I had not come across before, such as the type of exercise for the dominant energy type.
Another unusual thing Mimi does is direct readers to other content available, such as her youtube videos and other authors as well. The content sometimes feels repetitive, but it’s very easy to read and also very clear. Although it hasn’t been gone into in-depth, the explanations about the different energy pairings, how they interact with each other and suggestions as to what can be done to create balance instead of giving up is truly useful and eye-opening. Most of this information is something we intrinsically know, so by bringing these different situations to our attention, Mimi plants a seed into our mind which we are fully able to grow on our own. Mimi included her personal life-experiences and that helped to cement my understanding of how these energies worked. I deeply enjoyed the last chapters where Mimi discusses BINGO careers and how imbalances of male and female energy cause the problems beyond us which we daily experience out in the world. It really resonated how true change starts from within and how detrimental it is to the world when we don’t make that effort. I now find myself wondering about what energies people around me seem to be channeling, how the problems of the world have arose and what needs to be done to achieve balance. I have a new improved understanding as to why I have acted the way I have in the past and what I need to do to create more happiness for myself. Even with regard to my partner, I now understand what difficulties he faces, even though such things come easily to me. This is definitely a book which offers a new experience and stretches your mind, leaving you a different, more ‘whole’ person.
Like most self-help books written by authors with few credentials to back up their claims, this was a mashup of: - quotes from dubious sources (the DaVinci Code? really?) - eye-rollingly simplistic generalizations with no citations to back them up ("Masculine energy is driven, focused, determined, disciplined, goal-oriented and ambitious.") - a pseudo-scientific quiz ("if you score 30 or below, your strength energy is masculine"!)
And like other books of its ilk, if you keep reading, skim the sections that don't apply to you, and keep an open mind, you can find some life hacks that are worth considering . . . nothing revolutionary, all things you have probably heard before (make one day a week where you don't use any technology. Spend that day connecting with yourself, your family and friends") yet perhaps the reminders will tick a box you've been neglecting in your life.
This book is a very casual, conversational type book with an interesting insight on a way to look at relationships, combatting relationship problems and thriving in love and friendships. I definitely found myself taking away some interesting tips from this book about learning to accept traits in others, understanding that we're opposite. Sometimes when you're in the situation, it's hard to view it objectively so some things may seem obvious, but I also think it's an easy, interesting read that you SHOULD read if you have the opportunity to - there's nothing wrong with attempting to understand the people around you more. I feel like a lot of the influence for this book came from the Love Languages book, but with a slightly different concept. It's an easy read - nothing too mindblowing - but a good read!
A very simple, take on relationships via the model of masculine and feminine "energies". Nothing revolutionary, reads like an extended horoscope capitalising on the Barnham effect, where most things will "somehow" fit you.
But, the author has a story telling skill which makes it an entertaining read. After you correct for all the biases and generalisations, it can give another lens through which to look at relationships (in a similar way you'd use the Myers Briggs test).
Don't expect many aha moments, but it can fill in some small gaps in understanding of our relationship patterns.
Honestly I bought it because I follow Mimi and Alex in social media and greatly inspired by the couple and their work. I appreciate the amount of work must have been put in for the book and its publishing. Kudos to the couple on the same. I felt a bit disappointed for buying the book for namesake. I felt like my expectation from the book was more because of the high quality work of Mimi on Social Media. I could not relate much to the book.
I wanted to read it because I wanted to knw what it was all about ... i am four years late lol. But anyway i could skip chapters because it was veryyyy repetitive! I mean she felt like we were idiots n had to constantly say "i want to make sure this is clear and you understand " . Also it was veryyy simply written not that its a bad thing coz I also came here when I was her age so I get English isnt our first language. But some sentences even sounded weird. N a lot of assumptions too .. like saying " a lot if relationships are based on fear " instead of asking the reader to think of their own issues... i think if she wrote this after having her daughter it would have been different. Also mimi! Please dont write a parenting book when ur daughter is still 4! Write it when she is 18 or 21 or something. Please!! Coz ur bragging about being a good parent n knw what ur doing when ur kid is only 3 or 4 it sounds stupid srsly n I have respect for u otherwise I would let u make a mockery of urself by writing a parenting book ... coz moat of us parents of even older kids or multiples but that doesnt mean writing a book. Start a blog! Thanks 🙏🏼
“The Bingo Theory” by Mimi Ikonn offers a refreshing perspective on understanding and balancing masculine and feminine energies within ourselves. The book combines practical advice with personal anecdotes, making it relatable and easy to follow. Ikonn's concept of "Bingo moments" — where our energies align perfectly, leading to fulfillment and success — is particularly insightful and has the potential to transform how we approach relationships, career, and personal growth.
What sets this book apart is its emphasis on finding harmony rather than leaning too heavily into one energy. Ikonn encourages readers to cultivate both their masculine and feminine sides, regardless of gender, which feels both empowering and inclusive. The exercises and self-reflection prompts are useful tools for anyone looking to create a more balanced and fulfilling life.
However, the book occasionally feels repetitive, and some readers may find the concepts somewhat idealistic. Despite this, *The Bingo Theory* is a valuable read for those seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships. It’s a practical guide to achieving inner balance and living a more aligned life.
So my take on this book is that it’s really just about having Type A or Type B personality and how both Types have positive and maladaptive qualities. All of the gender essentialism could be removed from the book’s underlying argument if “masculine energy” and “feminine energy” were just reframed as the A and B personalities - I do think it holds true that most people are more A or B leaning (I’m an extreme A) but (shocker!) it’s probably best represented as a spectrum. And then the second part of the book is about how people with each of those personalities relate to gender roles and navigate gendered expectations within relationships.
The concepts of feminine and masculine here are really a stretch. I’ve been restless, hyper-organized, and ambitious to a fault since I turned two, but in most other aspects I’m a “feminine strength” person. And I’m a Cancer. It’s not adding up.
It helped me develop insight into how I need to balance my feminine and masculine sides of me. I will need to read further into this to understand the concept more but it was a good grounding. Obviously I know my strongest side most but need help in developing my weaker side so needed more tips on how to do this
I chose to rate this a three as I still feel I need to research further into the subject matter. I had hoped for more tips as to develop the weaker side of my type but think there is more I need to learn
I loved the book. I was so looking forward to a doing a test and when there was one I was so happy. The test was actually very helpful as was the rest of the book. I would say it was more of an ‘advanced’ self-development read, not so much because of the language or terminology or anything but I would say you have to be quite open-minded to read this. The bonus chapter about bingo careers was especially helpful for me.
Very insightful ideas. I think I have subconsciously known these ideas to be true, this book helped bring them to my conscious mind. I don’t necessarily resonate with everything in the book, I think this is only natural, but I got so many wonderful insights that will help me in my life in understanding myself and those around me. Thank you Mimi for writing this book.
This book has amazing knowledge on the law of attraction, about choosing the correct partner for yourself and finding your love. I have been following Mimi since 7 years now and I am amazed by her personality, her intelligence and her relationship with her husband. I could easily relate to a lot of things that were mentioned in the book.
I started asking myself what dominant energy has every person I met and I know. I recommended this book to so much people, but I was hopping to read more tricks how to balance ourselves and our relationship.
😍I enjoyed this book...... and learned a lot from this book specially she put out those real life experiences. The names of her friends might not be real because in her place I would do the same. ❤❤❤❤❤❤ This book has been a valuable piece for me. Thanks for a great book mimi.
An easy to read book that dives deep into the meaning of masculine and feminin energy within humans and how it impacts our lives and how we can find the right balance for us. Great book about relationships and how those energies can impact them.
The book is okay. Interesting concept but very simple and doesn’t change much in life. I only chose it to read because of Mimi’s social media. If you’re her fan, I think it’s good to support her but otherwise you will find better books to read.
Good book that talks more about feminen and musculen strenght in each of us. Quick read, but let me wondering and thinking about my relationships with other and what is my personal strenght.
Amazing book. It is the updation from the 'women are from venus and men are from marks concept. I really loved the style of writing and how Mimi explained everything with examples. Must read!
Okay, I’ll admit it… Before I started reading ‘The Bingo Theory’ I was a bit skeptical towards changing yourself or your relationship with the help of a book. Having said that, I was already super excited to read this book when I ordered through Amazon! Felt like I had been waiting for months, if not years to finally read it. I read it cover to cover without skipping pages or chapters even though some of it didn’t apply to me. For the first couple of pages I really had to get used to the terms that are being used in this book, respectively: feminine and masculine energies. I never thought of man, woman, personalities, relationships and even careers and the world that way before! I found it both informative and entertaining to understand what energies me and my close ones have most in us. I really like how this book tries to break through a traditional take on gender roles. Especially because while reading this book I discovered I am in a so called ‘traditional relationship’ where the female, me, has a stronger feminine energy and the male a stronger masculine energy. I’d like to think my man and I are both pretty balanced but I know and understand that there is always room for improvement and it is a work in progress. Even though I’m pretty balanced, or maybe as a result of that, I still thought wrong about my strongest energy at first. I absolutely thought I was a masculine strength female, like Mimi. But I now believe that is because I have developed my masculine energy more and more throughout my last two years in college. I graduated this week and think this book gives me a strong foundation to build on. The book is written in a way that easily takes you away into the Bingo-concept. Once you surrender to the words, sentences and pages it provides you with a lot of insight about yourself and those around you. It has actually made me realize to accept and appreciate the differences in the relationships I have with my partner, parents and close friends. And that is the best thing one could ever do for any kind of relationship.
Some other things that especially stood out to me: - I loved the little peeks Mimi gives into her life and relationship with Alex - A big plus is the fact that there are a few, but definitely not to many cool illustrations in this book that are simple but represent the - In chapter XXI I stumbled upon a section that really got me thinking. It’s about how the entire world is in imbalance between feminine and masculine energies which is causing a lot of terrible things to happen such as certain species being endangered and people fighting each other…
This book offers a lot of interesting insight about relationships. I don’t want to give too much about it away, but the main premise of the book is that we all have both masculine and feminine energy within us, one of which is usually stronger than the other causing an imbalance within ourselves. Just because you are a woman does not necessarily mean that your dominant energy is feminine and vice versa. Throughout the book you discover which is your dominant energy as well as how to balance the two. Mimi was able to make a complex topic very easy to understand. The author’s writing style was very straight forward and often times it felt as though I was having a conversation with her rather than reading a book. I read it in one sitting because I was absolutely fascinated with the topic. I learned a lot about the energies of the people in my life and how that affects my relationships with them. The book itself was a bit pricey which made me hesitant to purchase it, but I am honestly glad that I did because I was able to take away so much from reading it and apply it to my own personal journey. It provided me with a lot of insight as to why some relationships are so effortless while others seem like a struggle to maintain. I also enjoyed reading the different case studies because I found that several of them resonated with me. They really helped to connect Mimi’s ideas with real life examples that are similar to my own situations.
However, what I absolutely loved about the book was the concept that change comes from within. We will never have true balance in the world if we do not work on our inner selves first. The most important relationship in our lives is with ourselves. Once we create that balance and harmony within ourselves it will be easier to create it in relationships with others and with the world in general. I love that Mimi spreads so much positivity and self-acceptance throughout this book. She doesn't claim that one energy is better than the other. Instead, she emphasizes the importance of being aware of what your energy is and developing the other in order to create more balance in yourself and in your life. It's an absolutely beautiful message that everyone should be exposed to. We all have to focus on the inner work first in order to live a happy and fulfilled life. Only then can we ultimately become a bingo! I truly believe everyone can take away something positive from this book and benefit from Mimi’s advice. I will definitely be sharing my copy with my friends and family. I highly recommend everyone reads it!
