In Time of the Twins, Lex, an impulsive military cadet, and Livia, a pampered Airess, have just found out they are twins, which is against the law in the great City of Indra. Now they are leaving behind the only world they have ever for Lex, it was the dark world of the Hub below the surface of Indra, where she survived the brutal Orphanage to become an elite member of Indra’s Population Control Forces, and for Livia, it was a life of luxury on the sky island of Helix, where she was brought up to be a Proper Indrithian Young Woman.
With help from the charming and handsome Kane, Lex’s best friend and Livia’s newfound love, and Zavier, a gruff rebel who would prefer to leave them all behind, they make the grueling trek through the dangerous underground tunnels toward the Outlands beyond the dome of Indra in search of the mother they thought was dead. When they finally reach the Outlanders' colony, they discover their mother holds the key to unlocking their past, and they must confront an ancient prophecy, “The Time of the Twins.” The prophecy claims they are the long-awaited “twin saviors,” destined to save the City of Indra from the oppressive High Council who have long reigned over all of its people.
Will Lex and Livia agree to be a part of their mother’s dangerous plan and take on the daunting role of the “twin saviors”? Will they trust their mother and put themselves in jeopardy to save countless lives? It’s a responsibility they never asked for . . . but one that may prove impossible to ignore.

I can't believe this is first book i started and finished in 2020, and like it's so dry and everything about this sucks. i didn't read the first one at all i just picked this up and checked it out because it sounded so contrived. It's like all the awful YA dystopian tropes in one series, and if you hate annoying YA protags then get ready for TWO annoying YA protags!! It's just one boring ass trip, I enjoyed the absurdness of it and that's it.
I'm not even half way through this book but I just had to write a review. I read the first book and thought the writing was pretty good. but this one seems so dumbed down. the story is fine, but it's written without any detail. I guess it's like bland in a way. it's pretty disappointing...
Overall this was a pretty book, although I had an interesting situation w/ it. When I bought the book I had no idea that it was the second book (even though I usually research books before buying). Halfway through the book I realized that it was the second! I was like I guess that's okay considering I didn't get confused like you normally would if you started w/ a second book. I felt compelled then to research the first book. Once I had read reviews I was glad that I didn't read the first book according to the articles the book was bad. On the other hand, the book was one of the best I've read. Possibly a third book, maybe?
Okay this book is much better than the first book. I really like the plot and all but one thing really annoys me. So Lex is my favorite character in this book, I don't know why, but she is. AND GUESS WHAT? READING THIS BOOK MAKES ME WANT TO THROW IT AWAY. Not because it's bad or anything. It's just because Kylie and Kendall made it so hard for Lex. Maybe it was on purpose or by accident, I don't care. Honestly, I feel so sorry Lex. Why? 1) Lex has a best friend named Kane. All of a sudden, her sister jumps off of Helix and starts to like him. LIVIA IS TAKING KANE AWAY FROM LEX. I don't ship Lex and Kane nor Livia and Kane but I really like the friendship between Lex and Kane. And somehow, Livia is trying to ruin their friendship. 2) I love Del so much. She is a strong and fierce and calm mother but as I was reading this book, I feel like Del likes Livia better than Lex. Maybe it's because Livia was an Islander and Del was one, too. I feel like Lex is always the person who gets left out. The third wheel, I guess? (First Kane and Livia, now Del and Livia? Are you kidding me?) 3) LIVIA PISSES ME OFF. She's like "Nobody can tell me anything. Not even my sister. I am free to do or feel anything." And Livia, I get you but what you think makes me wanna kill you. I mean, she should think for others, too, and not just herself, because Lex obviously faced things worse than her. While Livia got to live on an ISLAND and had the chance to ride Veda, Lex was BELOW THE EARTH training for dear life, obeying rules, and trying do hard to get bottomed out. Comparing their lives, that is a very big difference. 4) One thing that makes me really happy is Zavier. Even though Lex and him are not on good terms, they are really alike in a way. Now I haven't finished the book yet (I'm almost done, yup), but I wish that Zavier and Lex would get together. And I really wish Livia would just die. That's all I really have to say. IF Kylie and Kendall write another book for this series (I guess?) and they won't make a happy ending for Lex, I SWEAR THAT I WOULD GIVE THIS BOOK 0 STARS.
This book isn't horrible. I really enjoyed the story and finding out what happens. The relationship between Lex and Livia was interesting as one of them could read the other's mind. I definitely have questions after reading this book, and I'm curious as to if there will be a third book.
Imo the ghostwriter needs to check their house for black mould. DNF at 50%. Not even uni was good enough motivation for me to finish this.
DISCLAIMER: Why did I read this? I’m doing a video essay for university on problematic works of fiction and why people continue to promote authors of them. Otherwise I NEVER would’ve picked up this book. You’ll also be seeing some other one stars in my account under the shelf ‘it was for research okay’, all will be getting some lengthy reviews because I feel like I should be compensated for my suffering with a goodreads interaction notification boost of serotonin because yeah, I’ll get a degree, but I won’t get back the time I spent wreaking havoc upon my houses reading these books.
i enjoyed the first book but this one was so boring?? i think it would’ve been better if there was dual pov like in the first one so that the narrator could go more into detail
all the characters were so flat, and instead of reading a book…it felt like i was being told a third-hand story (like the narrator heard it from someone who heard it from someone else), bc there was NO detail and every “major” event was told in 2 sentences or less. yet, somehow, everything was explained to me like i was 5
for the first time in a long time, i wasn’t looking forward to reading when i picked this up
I'm writing this review based on my memory from when I last read this years ago, but I can only remember that the change from the first book's first-person POV to the second's third-person annoyed me so much I didn't finish it anymore. As long as you mark off the K&K's sisters' name, it's fine, I guess.
