I have to sell myself to the vampires. I know it's not safe, but there's no other option. Not for the amount of money I need. It's either become a blood courtesan or watch my mom die while we lose the only home I've ever known.

So I leap before I look and soon I'm sharing a bed with vampire Kristos Anastos. He's hot, rich and his fangs hurt so good. The courtesan thing is better than I thought it would be... until bullets start to fly.

Kristos believes he's the target, but it soon becomes clear it's not him they're after. It's me. And if I want to live, I'd better figure out why.

I thought I was just a college student, a good kid raised by a single mom down on her luck, but I have secrets even I don't know about.

Blood is money and mine may be worth the most of all.

Full length novel with NO cliffhanger.

The blurb, cover and reviews were all great plus the whole series is on KU how could I refuse?
Myra is young pretty and desperate for money so she decides her best option is to become a courtesan to vampires.
So far so good, I'm liking the story and the characters but my first problem came just a few pages in when Myra enters an upscale restaurant to meet her first client, Kristos.
'.... and then I was on the floor, my dress finally bringing me down......The momentum rolled me onto my back, whipping my legs apart, which displayed my lack of underwear for all to see.'
So I'm cringing and thinking this book obviously isn't for me but then I check the reviews again and they're all really good so I decide to give it another chance and it's going well, a bit too rushed for me but interesting but then Myra has a colossal TSTL moment

Loved it

I absolutely loved this book, and am very happy there are more of them. I hope they're as good as this first book. From what I have read not all the books need to be read in order. You can look on the Author's website for more about the reading order. I found this book romantic, full of action and I couldn't put it down once I started reading it.

This is the first time reading anything by this author and I haven't decided if it will be the last. I enjoyed the book but a certain part in the ending seemed too...easy. But this was a fun and fast read. I would say that this book be for a mature teen or older teen as there are intimate scenes.

I have always loved Michelle's Fox's vampires, she gives them so much humanity, you'd think they have a heart.

Myra has decided that the only way she will be able to support her mother's Cancer treatments is to become a Blood Courtesan.. What she hadn't counted on was the vampire Kristos, he takes her breath away. And then the bullets start flying! But wait, thing is they are not for him, but for her and then her world changes, things are definitely not what she thought they were in her life.! What she is and the way Kristos protects her, takes her to a whole new level.

This is such a wonderful mixture of passion, love and lots of action.

Reborn is a complete story, a novella, about the loss of innocence and I love Myra’s feistiness, the laughs, the kisses and bullets, though I did get frustrated with her casual stupidity, but my love of vampires keeps me reading most anything with them in it.

I read this last year but I've just got some more of the series so thought I'd go back to what is recommended to start with.

And honestly, it's a good job I did - I don't remember it AT ALL!!!!

But I have it a good solid 4 stars last year with no review and I give it a solid 4 again but adding the review.

This is the only book that is given an order. Well - to begin with this so you're inducted into the world pretty much as Myra was - a virgin in every way.

Something tells me though that this story is an exception to the rule. If every blood courtesan fell in love with the vampire that hired them....there wouldn't be a need for the business!

Myra comes to this job to help her pay her way through school and help her mum who is sick with cancer.

She's sent on her first audition with Kristos which to be blunt is an embarrassment straight away....and then a disaster!

But Kristos assumes the trouble is after him....not Myra.

After discovering exactly who she is the life Myra knew is over and dealing with who she is....what is expected of her from someone she thought she should be able to rely on....is a little disturbing.

It's a good introduction to the world. I hope we get to see Myra and Kristos again and they're not just poofed in to the past now!

This is one of those reviews where I should start by saying I don't think I'm the target audience for this book. For some reason, vampire books just don't work for me. (The clear exception here is Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series but that's because pretty much everything she writes is a win for me. So if you know any more like hers, please point me in their direction. Thanks in advance.)

I should also add that I'm not a fan of first person in writing. It's not a hard and fast rule, of course — I've read a few books where it's worked for me — but it's an extra hurdle to my enjoyment of the story.

What this all means, of course, is that it shouldn't be surprising that a vampire romance written in the first person with a heroine who more than once reminded me of Twilight was not exactly my cup of tea. Or even remotely close to my cup of tea. (I don't even like tea. This is a silly analogy.)

Myra is a college student studying business. Her mom, her only parent, is ill with some sort of cancer and in order to pay for the drugs keeping her mom alive, Myra has decided to become a blood courtesan. One of her 'friends' recommended her to one of the top houses, although she lied about the fact that Myra is a virgin with no sexual experience. Because Myra is desperate for the money, she doesn't clear up this misunderstanding with the Madam, who decides that she does clean up well enough and sends her to meet with Kristos, the vampire who gives each girl their trial encounter.

Of course, Myra is clumsy (this sounds very familiar) and completely fumbles her entrance. Rather than putting Kristos off, this intrigues him. Of course, dinner is interrupted by gunfire and Myra is injured in the process of escaping from their assailants. Kristos takes her back to his home to care for her injuries and they gradually discover that it is Myra and not Kristos that is the target. In the meantime, Kristos has a bad case of insta-lust (as does Myra for him) and Myra has trouble following directions. She's also very conflicted about the possibility of becoming a vampire.

Credit to the author, the reasons vampires are after Myra are explained in this book, to the extent that anything is explained. There's no cliffhanger and the story is resolved. On the other hand, my biggest complaint about this book is that it feels so shallow. None of the characters have any depth. I was intrigued by the concept of blood courtesans but nothing was really done with it. And, well, there was never anything to make me believe the insta-lust was anything other than that.

Like I said above, I suspect a lot of my disappointment with the book is because I'm not the target audience. It was reasonably well written, especially when judged against the yardstick of Twilight, so it likely plays well to those who enjoy this sort of thing. As for me, I think it's back to Regencies for a bit as a palate cleanser.

Great Start

This is a lovely series with so many novella books to read from some great writers. This is the first one but there are many more which are all standalone stories.
I enjoyed this one as it gives a good grounding for where the rest will go.

Congratulations. You are officially a blood courtesan. 5 BLOODY FANGS

WOW! Talk about DES-VAMP-TINY!! This book is just bursting with great, no VAMPTASTIC storylines, characters, story content and everything else that turns a good story into one helluva VAMPTACULAR story adventure like no other!! I was laughing, smiling, worrying, crying, panting and more, alongside the characters, thoroughly enjoying the Vampire Roller Coaster of emotions, actions, surprises and... well I can't tell you everything, no can I? *innocent smile* Michelle certainly upped her Vampire Magic for this one! I was swept into this book faster than even Kristos can move! Even without having made eye contact, Michelle had me hypnotized from the very beginning, from the cover, well, no, actually she had me at “Vampire”, and I couldn't, didn't want to stop EVER! But like all great stories it ended all too soon! *sad sigh* Even though I became Myra, experiencing & living the story vicariously through her, I still wish it was all really real! First off, Myra lives in a World where Vampires DO exist. (My dream World!) Secondly, she wins the Vampire Lotto when she gets the FANGLUSCIOUS Vampire named Kristos to be the vamp to initiate her into the world of a Blood Courtesan!! *dreamy sigh* Okay, to be fair, her life isn't all moonlight & Kristos, but still.. it has Vampires in it!! I love that Michelle makes these BLOODERFUL people all her own! But how she does it is the True Vampire Thrall! The creativity, the differences, their abilities, their history - both individual and as a whole -, just ALL OF IT, brings new blood into my FANGORITE paranormals, keeping me intrigued and wanting more, More, MORE stories of these BLOODTASTIC Vampires of Michelle's! Michelle's phenomenal talent, combined with her genuine gift not only had me drooling over her Vampires, but also feeling, hearing, seeing, even (almost) tasting everything right along with Myra, to the pointy fang that I was experiencing and living it all as Myra! *drooool* I devoured this book without stopping for anything! I didn't even acknowledge Ma Nature when she called! I ABSO-FANG-LUTELY LOVE this book! I am still consumed - mind, body, spirit, soul(less) & blood! I'm afraid if you want to live, you will have to die.

Reborn was a great read once I got into the story I could not put it down. Myra is in desperate need of cash to help her mother and decides to join the shadow world to be a blood courtesan to vampires. Her first client is Kristos Anastos and upon their first meeting she makes an embarrassing entrance. She is quickly enamored by Kristos, but as soon as they meet bullets start flying. Literally. As they’re leaving the restaurant she starts wondering if they’re shooting at her and not Kristos.

Kristos vows to keep Myra safe. After he finds out who her father is they realize how much danger she’s in. Everyone in the vampire world will want to kidnap her or kill her. Kristos offers to turn her into a vampire to prevent her from having to run her entire life. She keeps putting the decision off but realizes that she is just slowing Kristos down and is a liability. She eventually decides that being turned is the best option, but the decision is taken out of her hands when she is kidnapped by her father. He has been tracking her down due to her value to him, and apparently can breed the next generation of vampires. Kristos manages to track her down and rescue her but not before she is -shot and awakes as a vampire.

I thought this was a great read and recommend it. Once the action started I wanted to know what happened next and if they would make it. Who would come after her next? Why was she so valuable? Why is Kristos protecting her? All these questions are answered and the story wraps up nicely with a HEA.

Engaging story with unique perspective on vampires!!

We meet Myra in her interview to become a courtesan to vampires. She needed money fast to pay expenses not covered by insurance for her mom’s cancer treatment, and to save their family home. The vampires like experience and adventuresome courtesans – as shrinking violets don’t taste good. Being a virgin will have to remain her secret – but being a vampire virgin raises her price – no neck scarring and fresh meat.

An immediate change of clothes, makeup and hair – and she is whisked off to her “audition” with Kristos. Their dinner turns into a gun battle, resulting in all escaping with only minor injuries. But as she is cared for back at Kristos’ home she is alternately pampered or treated as the “flavor of the week”. Myra ultimately admits her virgin status to Kristos who rather than being disappointed, is pleased. Kristos takes her virginity in a very erotic passage, and when he also feeds from her a surprise from Myra’s past is revealed. This past indicates it is Myra who was the target of the shooter – not Kristos.

Amazing characters with a unique take on vampires. A fast-paced, full of surprises story, which will keep you on the edge of your seat and pulse soaring!!

Reborn (Blood Courtesans) by Michelle Fox In desperate need of money, Myra Danson makes the decision to become a blood courtesan and with Kristos Anastos fangs could never hurt so good until her world is turned upside down and she discovers that blood is money and hers may be worth the most of all in this fangtastic paranormal romance.

This story may be short but let me tell you it packs a powerful punch, it is full of emotionally charged turmoil that readers can feel flowing from the strong, compelling characters and the passion will leave you scorched and wanting more. The well written and fast paced plot keeps readers on their toes with lots of suspense, excitement and unexpected twists that keeps the tension and expectation building throughout. Myra grabs reader’s attention right from the beginning and gets curiosity flowing as readers wonder if this young woman will be to accomplish the task she’s set out for herself and from there the excitement builds as things become dangerous with bullets flying and the discovery that Myra’s personal life isn’t at all what she thought it was.

I was completely fascinated by this story and the intriguing world and I have to agree that is FANGLICIOUS!, so, I will definitely be visiting this world again.

meh, ok but...

The first 3 chapters were probably the best part. As the story went on I liked the heroin less and less. She's 25 not stupid, but you wouldn't know that by her actions and level of conversation. There were so many times it felt like I was reading the dialogue of a 10 year old spoiled girl. Plus, I'm all about some action and drama to help a story along, but the author confused that with stupidity. I absolutely hate when the lead women are made to look temperamental and reckless just for the sake of ego and pride. It takes away from what being a woman is about.

Overall, I gave this a three because it was a new spin on the vampire story for me. The ending was very rushed and somewhat awkward. It didn't quite fit the pace of the rest if the book. It's a decent read if you can't find anything else.

what an interesting start to a new series. I was captivated right from the start and intrigued by the concept of the courtesans. The atmosphere was that of a madam with a bordello of old but the clothing guy was hysterical. There was a lot of mystery, drama, action and adventure rolled up into one exciting fast moving storyline. While it may take a few minutes to get into the story in the beginning you will quickly be caught up and eager to find out what is happening. Good characters, well written and engaging, you will not be disappointed with this fun storyline. I look forward to seeing more good things in the coming stories.

I volunteered to review an advance reader copy.

**Totally honest review/no spoilers**

I gave this book four stars for a few different reasons. First I want to address the things I didn’t like, then address the things I did.

The most disappointing part of this book had to be the climax-less ending. Although the main characters do get a happily ever after(maybe a tiny spoiler), the ending was very easy and abrupt. So much so that I was speed reading to the very end to see how bad things were going to get because “that can’t be it, right?”. Myra and her mother need money quickly so she becomes a courtesan to help fund her mother’s illness. The reader is left wondering who her father could be after several dropped hints that he up and left them when she was a baby. Let’s just say I felt that whole part of the story could have used an extra 100 pages or so to really give it some depth that would have made the ending not so.. “huh?”.

The second reason I wasn’t head over heels in love with this book(although I did really enjoy it) is because like I mentioned above, this story lacked depth! I wanted so badly to understand so many different things in this story that I wish the author would have just taken a few more pages describing or going into detail with. If you are good with taking things at face value and just filling in the gaps yourself, you won’t have this issue.

So why did I give this book four stars? Well, I have to go against the grain with other readers here and say I actually liked Myra. At times I did feel she was a tiny bit childish but not enough to completely dislike her. She was witty and had a mysterious past so I found her intriguing and I loved her ability to banter with Kristos. They had a very like-able relationship that although rushed in between 200-something pages, didn’t present as eye roll worthy or too syrupy. I thought they had pretty good chemistry and oh man they are fire in the bedroom. I read this book in about 4hours and I don’t consider myself a super fast reader. It was a quick and fun read. I am huge on world building and yes it’s missing those precious deep details that really suck a reader in, but I did actually enjoy the world of courtesans and vampires.

Desperation causes people to do many things that they might not otherwise do. That is the case for Myra. She is a struggling college student whose mother is being treated for cancer and about to lose the family home. So, in desperation Myra signs up to be a blood courtesan to vampires. First, however she must go to see Kristos, the vampire as her first assignment.

Kristina quite taken aback by unique human who fell flat on her face in his restaurant showing him and all of his patrons her vajayjay. Yep, you read it correctly the first time. However the night doesn't stop there because soon someone is shooting at him and the lovely Myra. While they narrowly escape the couple finds themselves in his apartment where he is further surprised to discover Myra is a virgin.

As Kristos and Myra get to know each other he realizes that there is something familiar about her blood. Soon, it becomes clear and it seems that he is not the target of assassins but Myra is. Together they will have to work out a plan to help her survive while they figure out how they truly feel about one another. One thing is for sure, time is not on their side.

This read was a little more than your typical vampire romance. It has a unique hook that kept me wondering what would happen next. It was a definite surprise I wasn't expecting and made the decision to go on to the next book easy. I hope the series continues to show promise.

“In a world where vampires are real, blood is a financial asset and sex mixed with blood commands the highest price...” ☞ ☜

Myra’s character was great. I easily connected with her, because she wasn’t a know it all and she wasn’t too shy either. She was a good girl who with good intentions, still managed to step into a pile of sh!t.

“My brand. Right. The virgin pretending she knew something. I slipped one leg in front of the other, stuck my chest out and tried to pout like Marilyn Monroe.
She sighed and lowered the camera. “You look constipated”
-HAhahahahahah...HA!!!

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I loved it! This was just what I needed in a vampire story. It had action and suspense, romance and passion, along with climactic plot twists. I also appreciated that the author explained how things happened in the vampire world. How holy water affects them and the proper way to kill a vampire, rather than assuming that I should know all my vampire history beforehand.

Kristos was everything you want in a hot sexy vampire. He is what fantasies are made of. ♡ ♥ ❤ And every time he would suck on Myra’s blood while f#%king her into her 7th or 8th orgasm, my lips gotten bitten! It was hella HOT! ツ I liked that Myra was a virgin when she met Kristos and that he was her first. That was one hell of an erotic scene!

I'm not sure how any author thinks they can get away with purposeless TSTL characters any more!?!?! It's mind boggling that they think they can write that kind of stupidity, and still have people consider looking at more of there books.

There is a place for TSTL, and that place is TSTL characters, who are actually TSTL. NOT 'oh, they are so smart and so perfect and loved and wanted by all... but I can't figure out how to make this happen in the scene, so I'll have my grown adult who is on the run from danger, after just having to send her sick mother into hiding because she was kidnapped to use against her, and then she can use an ATM across the street from her safe house when she sneaks out each day to get coffee and sugar cause she's so bored sitting in the boring safe house and not dying with the people putting their lives on the line to protect her!'

WTF! There is no excuse for that kind of shit. And it wasn't just a one off 'shit, I fucked up'... No, she decided to use a phone at the next safe house without asking too 'because I'm sure that will be fine and everyone's asleep, and I am bored again... not like anyone's tried to kill me in the last hour or that I might actually think of my mothers safety and not add to the risk of her being tracked down even if I really should be eliminated from the gene pool to save the human race from death by stupidity!'

This was just not what I was expecting.

We start the book and this girl is desperate for money because her mum is really sick so she is auditioning to be a blood courtesan - someone the vampires pay for sex and blood BUT she is a virgin.

so far so good I was thinking this could be an interesting story of the innocent girl being swept off her feet by the world of vampires.

Nope. I was wrong. The innocence part is given up fairly quickly and in a very disappointing manner - I mean that scene could have played out VERY sensually but we get almost no detail other than he took it slow and she liked it ?!?!

Then we meet a few jealous girls who want the vampire for themselves and everyone is trying to kill Myra, Kristos's plan is to turn her into a vampire because she will be harder to kill, Myra isn't sure about that plan so they lie, pretend she has been turned and buy themselves some time.

The story degrades from there and to be honest misses the mark on nearly every level.
There are better romance books.
There are better vampire books.
There are better romance with vampire books.

Its a shame cause I liked the idea of a world where the vampires pay human escorts.
This just wasn't that world.

I found like book while scanning through paranormal authors on Amazon. I decided to check it out and was thoroughly unimpressed.
The book started off with me having high hopes, but soon had me cringing. First, a girl who's needing money decides to be a blood courtesan, what's not to like? A lot apparently. The story is rushed and parts that need to be explained aren't while those that don't need to be explained are. Myra, our leading lady, didn't always use her brain and made me cringe. Kristos helped her and was brains and smarts at every turn. Until the part where she's all alone and she has to do it on her own, and even then she waits too long to escape and gets caught again. It takes Kristos to save her another time. In the end, it seems they live happily ever after but it leaves a lot to the imagination and doesn't explain things as well as I'd like.
I didn't feel there were enough substantial characters or enough explaining. I feel disengaged and couldn't relate to Myra in the least.
Maybe I'm picky but there's just some things I like when I read a book. I would chance reading this author again because I like to give more than one chance to an author. Maybe I'll be impressed with the next book I read.

I decided to give this author another try after not being a fan of Rare Stakes due to Mel’s hard nosed unyielding approach to life. The funny thing is what Mel lacked in flexibility Myra had in spades maybe a bit too much. She was wasaaaaaay too trusting and a damsel in distress (most of the time) however she did have some shinning moments where she tried to put up a fight only for it to fall a bit flat. Not a bad story though, there were some parts where the plot had some holes like what happened to all of Cristos’ guards? They are there to make an impression at the beginning and then suddenly aren’t? I think I actually like this author’s writing style, but I would love to see a character from her that’s a good balance. Myra needed to push back more, I know she did at times but she did it in more of a bratty whiny way, she’s 25 not 15 she would have been a better character if she had been a bit more confident (not overly cocky like Mel) but just in the way that comes from not being a teenager anymore.

The buck stops here...

I stumbled upon this free Amazon read and gave it a shot after reading the synopsis. Realizing it was a ten part series I hoped I would like it enough to continue the series. No way, no how...

Myra ie extremely irritating, whiny and needy—very unlikable. After the first few chapters, I wanted her demise to come quickly. Kristos is equally irritating. There are so many things wrong with him as an old vampire, I don’t know where to begin. I struggled to finish this one.

Mercifully this was a short seventeen chapter read but it’s also two hours of my time I will never get back. If you are looking for an exciting read with a hot vampire and plenty of action and suspense, this ain’t it. Some editing issues and character confusion (one minute Kristos is in pajamas and the next he unzipping the zipper on his pants) and bathing seems to be an unnecessary evil for Myra and Kristos. Proceed with extreme caution.
