My first year teaching was blindsided by unruly classes, parent calls and administration. I wanted to quit every day that first year. 10 years later as a successful veteran teacher, I want to show you how to brave the wilds of the classroom. This book will show you how to build relationships with students, parents and administration as well as how to spend money on your classroom without breaking the bank and how to thrive in any classroom. This book is for teachers looking for Silver Bullets. Silver Bullets that work in the toughest classes. Silver Bullets that make your students better and finally, Silver Bullets that make you better.

This book is very readable and I found a few good tips that I will use this year. How do you get kids to keep your room clean without nagging? Walter Coppage will tell you here. How do post it notes improve student student motivation? Read it here. That said, this is a cute book of tips and stories; nice to build your spirits just before school starts. However, Mr. Coppge describes a classroom clearly not run around standards and testing. It's just not the universe occupied by math or science teachers whipped into line by the gospel of standardized tests and central office oversight. There are some good tips but as is usual there is no advice on how to have a student driven classroom with a Central office driven curriculum. If you teach Language arts enjoy! If you teach secondary math or science, there are some nice tips and cute stories to rev you up for the school year.
