Lady Charlotte Hamilton comes from old money; her marriage was a family decision, an arrangement agreed before she was a day old to join two family businesses. She and her husband Oliver did as their families asked and have produced three heirs for the family auction house, however once duty was done they agreed to live separate private lives enabling Charlotte to satisfy her true sexuality.
Alison Carter, or Ali has been Charlotte’s mistress for almost 15 years. With all her material and sexual needs met, she wants for nothing. Recently she had begun to question whether this is enough, whether her emotional needs are being met. She loves Charlotte but isn’t sure she is still in love and is feeling taken for granted. Ali is close to 35, she always wanted a family, something that Charlotte won’t discuss, and time is running out.
When the Hamiltons hire a new female chauffeur, Sam, Ali is immediately attracted to her and her outlook on life. Sam encourages her to pursue lost passions and could offer her a future without limitations.
Should you cast aside security and privilege for an unknown future?
Wow, that could have easily been 4 stars, but the writing was so bad! Bad punctuation, run on sentences and numerous misspellings made this really hard to read. Also continuity: Charlotte’s children are 7, 9 and 10 but attending university? Please employ an editor and a proofreader!
My review of her other book was critical. I had several problems with "Undercover Love". I am happy to say this work had none of those problems. The story was crisp & endearing and for the most part believable. I loved it.
I am never sure how good a second book from an author will be. I have to say though that I was blown away by how beautiful and loving the romance between Charlotte and Ali was. It was well written and just as good as the author's first novel.
