Tedd grew up with three brothers. His family lived on a farm in Pennsylvania for several years then returned to Elmira until Tedd was ten years old. His father's work then required that they move to Gainesville, Florida. There, Tedd's first art lessons in an abandoned dentist's office over the Happy Hour pool hall eventually led to a fine arts degree from the University of Florida.
He and his wife, Carol, started their family in Tallahassee where Tedd worked as a commercial illustrator. Carol, a kindergarten teacher, drew Tedd's attention to children's books. Their first son, Walter, inspired his breakthrough picture book, NO JUMPING ON THE BED!.
He and his family now live in Elmira. His second son, William, now stars in NO MORE WATER IN THE TUB!, a sequel to his first book. He has now published over 50 books as author and illustrator.
Fly Guy and Buzz visit a castle and learn how they were made and how they protected the people who lived in them.
I enjoyed this. I liked learning about castles (I love Medieval history and times.) It was good to see how different castles looked. I liked how the people who lived and worked in the castle were spotlighted especially the knights (heavy armor!) I appreciated the photos and how some castles have influenced us today.
This is a great book with wonderful facts, photos, illustrations and information on castles. It is a very good reference on the subject and is laid out well. I would definitely buy for school AND myself! Nicely done! Bravo! Highly recommended for Grades 2nd - 5th.
A good intro to the history, architecture, and sociology of castles, brought to us by Fly Guy and Buzz. It's accessible and a relatively easy read; should definitely be workable as a read alone, although I think it'd be best at least bookended by discussions.
A nonfiction book about castles. There were a lot of ways to attack from inside and outside a castle. I thought the siege towers were interesting. Includes information about the people who loved during medieval times as well.
Fly Guy Presents: Castles is packed with information from the Medieval Period. It is an excellent book with a great format. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in castles.
