This is the first book of the MASTERED Series, another wild and wicked story with a delicious mix of romance and deep passion by Katelyn Skye. Casey Singer likes to be in control, and she’s had plenty of experience with it. Twenty years serving in the Army has taught her to always be on guard, looking out for her own safety and the safety of everyone else. She knows all too well what it’s like to be responsible for someone else’s survival. The only thing is, she’s not in a war zone anymore. Casey is out of the army and back to her old life…but she doesn’t know what to do next. Her marriage is over and her parents are pushing her into business with her brother, but is that what she really wants? The decision is weighing her down. So when she runs into Zach, an old friend of the family who has grown up from a scrawny boy to a seriously hot man, he provides a welcome distraction. It doesn’t hurt that Zach is a former veteran himself, someone who might be able to understand her. But Zach comes with complications of his own. Casey soon discovers that Zach is full of passion and so satisfying, but it comes at a price. Will Casey be strong enough to surrender her control?

"There was a naughty girl
And a naughty girl was she,
For nothing would she do
But scribble poetry"

Katelyn Skye began her creative career very young, writing little romantic poems that she was too afraid to show to anybody. After graduating from high school and getting admitted into college, her poems slowly developed into longer verses and eventually into little stories that she finally allowed others to read.

They eventually matured, as she did, to romances filled with the wildest fancies of her imagination. As her own sex life flourished, so did the lives of her characters and her stories became edgier, more alive than ever before.

Katelyn Skye endeavors to give her readers the most modern and contemporary romance tales for women. She writes strong, independent female characters who either learn to, or are not afraid to experience all that life has to give.

She hopes you enjoy reading her work as much as she has always enjoyed writing it.

Enjoy,

Katelyn Skye

Mastered by boredom

This is the story of Casey and Zach. During the walk of shame to her car after a late night romp with her ex-husband, Casey is offered a ride to her car by Zach, a friend of her brother's. She remembered Zach as a skinny boy with braces and acne. Now he is still grown, sexy man.

They find they have things in common. They are both retired from the military and they have failed marriages while in the service. They were attracted to each other and decided to go out on a date. Later that night they have sex, which wasn't that hot. The next morning Casey freaks out on Zach and kicks him out of her place.

There were factors that made this story a less than a desirable one. I didn't like how Zach's dominance/kink factor was introduced. It was basically thrown out there. I also didn't feel as though the trust factor between the characters was established. Just because a person says they trusts another doesn't mean he/she does. It was evident in this story.

The main factor that got the book the rating that it did was Casey. I didn't like Casey as a character at all. I really didn't learn anything valuable about the characters. She was a weak woman character. Casey was a fast girl. I know she is coming out of a stint of being celibate, but it seems like that she has no self control or self worth about herself. She is indecisive and confusing. She gets mad at Zach and started to be disrespectful for something she agreed to and after she said she trusted him. I don't like female characters like this. That is the sign of an underdeveloped character.

The installment ended with Casey questioning if Zach would forgive her for being a douche and, if he does forgive her, can she let him back into her heart. She shouldn't be worrying if she can let him back in but if he wants to come back in. Casey's mind is warped.

I won't be reading anymore of this book. I will definitely will not be recommending this atrocity of a book.

This book did not speak to me at all. The storyline didn't pull me in to want to continue and find out about the relationship between Casey and Zach.

Big duh

The book started out well but went nowhere... Your left in suspense to buy the sequel but why bother when it is very predictable and a plot to get you to buy several books to tell a story that should be completed in one novel.

A Review of Mastered by Katelyn Skye

Interesting storyline - 5 stars

This was the first book I have read by Ms. Skye and it was very captivating. Both Casey and Zach spent time in the Army. Casey's parents are both lifers and she feels that they are disappointed that she pulled out after twenty years instead of staying in until retirement. But, Casey is suffering from PTSD and with the loss of her marriage, she is struggling with what to do with her life.

Zach was actually a friend of her brother, but man has he grown up from the scrawny, pimply boy she remembered to a HOT stud. He also had a marriage that failed, so he understands what Casey is going through. When she runs into him after a rendevous with her ex, she is drawn to him. He lets her know up front that he has his own issues with being in charge in the bedroom, so when she has a moment of freak out, what will happen? Looking forward to reading the rest of the story!

Looking to begin a civilian life

After twenty years in the military and one divorce Casey finds herself trying to find where she fits in her new life. The story opens with Casey find in a familiar, if not regrettable, position of having sex with her ex husband. After leaving in a cloud of unease she meets Zach, an old friend of her brother's, on her "walk of shame" back to her car. Zach has definitely grown up from her memories of a gangly pimple faced teenager, attraction blooms quickly. Both ex military have baggage to deal with, we only really see a hint of Casey's need for distance after sex and her PTSD. Very intriguing start to the series.

Hmm ..where to start. I'll start with the positives - love the cover, love the characters (especially sexy Zach!), and love the idea. Now the negatives - not a fan of how fast Casey is willing to jump into bed with Zach, felt it was really short, and didn't like how the story ended abruptly. I would have probably loved this story more if it had a little more meat to it. Haven't decided if I will read the rest of this series or not.

Okay.

For the first installment it was a pretty alright read, But it still wasn't my favorite e-book.
It was a free book so you really can't be picky.

So complex and hot and interesting. Casey has a serie of things to deal with her new life and would Zach be her first to this? Definitely you are going to know the answer...

A good start, but I hate it when authors break up the one book into tiny pieces. Just give us the whole book!
