Kylie Summers was an ordinary woman. Cheating ex-fiancé, job she hated, no love life to speak of… But after a drunken encounter with a stone statue, she suddenly finds herself with a gargoyle houseguest called Luc and a mission to free all gargoyles from a fate worse than death.
But, just finding and waking Luc’s lost brothers and sisters is hard enough, there are those in the world who also know about the gargoyles, and wish to wake them for their own reasons.
As Kylie and the gargoyle, Luc try to work together, they find that helping an entire race really won’t be that easy, but falling in love will be.
But caution is advised as this is intended for mature readers 18+ only - it contains scenes of a sexual nature between an alpha male gargoyle and an accident-prone human.

Okay... Okay. I had fun. I had a lot of fun and was very entertained. It wasn't perfect but it was the closest thing to what I wanted in a gargoyle & human romance. Will review when the blush leaves my cheeks.
Enjoyable, well written, simple. Did not like the constant "im fat" biz or the" im a klutz" biz. Authors, you can write not thin characters without dwelling on their fatness all the time.
This little gem has been sitting on my wish list for a while and I could decide if I wanted to read it, and I'm glad I did.
This was a enjoyable read. I liked the buildup of character and the suspense as well as the background story on Gargoyles. I thought it was well written and an interesting take. I really hope to see more of the characters and I hope that the story develops and matures as this book did.
Kylie and Maggie were very intriguing and seeing Maggie's relationship at the end makes me believe we will see more of her in the future.
I liked this paranormal romance. It included magic, mystery, suspense, and traitors. The hero is a gargoyle that our human heroine awakens. Then a lot happens as they try to figure out how to awaken more gargoyles and find out there are bad people murdering and kidnapping. I liked the heroine. Her reactions to awakening and getting to know a gargoyle were really well written--I could totally relate. I liked the gargoyle hero, too. He was pretty old fashioned, but he had been locked in stone for almost a thousand years. He has his hands full dealing with his modern human lady. Sometimes it seems like she just likes to do the opposite of what he tells her to do. I can relate to that, too. She tries to get him to understand that modern life is different. The develop a warm, sexy relationship, while still having reasonable conflicts brought about by their different backgrounds. I really enjoyed and recommend this. A gargoyle romance isn't just the same paranormal romance as all the others. It was quite different.
Kylie works in an antique store with her aunt after having to escape New York and her cheating Fiancé. I loved the town, the set up and all the characters. Very well written and though out.
After getting drunk at a house party she kisses a gargoyle and much to her shock he wakes up. He is not the only gargoyle and he enlists Kylie's help to wake up the rest of his Brethren but there are problems along the way and those who want to harm rather than help.
I don't understand why authors write loser females roles. The female in this book is most definitely a loser. Poor girl is afflicted with nearly every unattractive trait possible. While I'd like to cheer for the underdog that won, I feel like a bit of a loser myself since I paid for this book.
Generally love her books, but this just felt like it went on, and on, and on, and on, and on. More comments are made about her weight than any other physical description. I just finished reading, and I cannot tell you either her hair or eye colors. That's telling.
Exciting, romantic, engaging, humorous, amazing.... all this is NOT.
It is an epic fail.
The world building is lacking, the writing is unoriginal, the plot feels recycled, romance is as hard as the gargoyles during the day and the characters are as interesting as an average garden statue, which the gargoyle is.... originally. The book would have been the same if the gargoyle had remained a statue!
Inconsistent characters are a pet peeve of mine, and no one is as inconsistent as the characters in this book. One second the hero is a gentleman, next second (as soon as he finds out the heroine kissed him to wake him up) he turns into a possessive a**hole. On the other hand, there is a heroine who is at one point yelling and feeling trapped in a mating..... on next page, she is declaring her love for the gargoyle and kissing him.
Ugh! Instant love... another pet peeve of mine... would be better than this! This is like one second they are passive, then, from one page to the next, they are making out!
There are no interesting other characters, the villains are cliche villains for the sake of villainy and there are chunks of details and descriptions that are lacking! There are so many 'Why' questions unanswered.
This book did have potential, but I found it sorely lacking.... in all the ways.
I don't think I have patience to read the next books in this series. This is the end for me...
Wasn’t sure what to think but this was a good start. It was well written and enjoyable. I think less of the fat shaming I could do without. Hopefully the next book will give more insight to the forgotten or maybe lost ones and someone will stop being a jealous 🤬 hahaha
Gargoyles have been set in stone for almost 1,000 years. Kylie just so happens to wake one up, and he follows her home. Together, they form a friendship and work to find the others before time runs out, but they have a villain in their midst, and one that has an even more dangerous mastermind behind him.
I think Price had a fascination with Disney's Gargoyles, which many characters were based from. Gargoyles attempting to defend the humans they were born to protect led out to be set to stone for a thousand years. Just look at the cover! He is Goliath! Ophelia is the human hating Demona in disguise. (It's only a spoiler if you never watched the show. Plus, it was predictable.) Hollings is Xavier.
Of course, there are a few differences, like the sex..... (-_-) ... The sex is odd. He uses his tail. I suppose it shouldn't seem more weird than using any other appendage, so kudos for originality, I guess. The, uh... instrument he uses is unusually large. I would imagine it being painful, but to each her own. Their color is different, of course. Then there is Kylie. Instead of a fit cop, we have a clumsy, self conscious BBW who works for her aunt, who I don't believe is her actual aunt. Maggie is an oddball in her own way, and so is the aunt.
One thing I can't get over is Elizabeth's lack of hygiene concern. He bathes in a river with no soap, and he eats raw meat he kills himself with his talons. Keep this in mind while they have sex. Excuse me, but I would have a concern with what is being impaled inside me, and how clean it is. His tail often curls around her ankle or leg, okay, but when she isn't around, I'm sure it's on the floor. Just sitting there. I know. I'm over thinking it, but hello, OCD germ-a-phobe here.
It is a good read though, and I found myself entertained regardless of my qualms.
I really liked this, but it felt like it was loosely based on the Disney cartoon Gargoyles. I LOVED watching the movie when I was younger. I even had a Demona and Goliath doll (and had a crush on Goliath). Anyways. It felt as though it was based on that, it isn't a bad thing (inspiration has to come from somewhere) but it had its own twists and turns that it held its own story very well. I would give this a solid 4 out of 5 stars because it was very enjoyable, very easy of a read.
Lucifer was so cute and I felt like Kaylie was pretty funny. A lot of her reactions/general daily actions are something that I would do...besides the dress thing- that's just a plain old fear that I OCD about so it doesn't happen haha. Towards the big bang at the end I didn't like her. When she was locked with Ophelia and she was whiny and all "I can't do this WAHHHHHHH" I got so annoyed! I even yelled "suck it up and figure it out!" to my phone. Got a strange look from the dog,but hey-it happens.
Maggie was so cute and I want a story with her and Andrew (?I can't remember his name) or at the very least a short story/novella with them.
I felt bad for Holling and Lara. Yes, they were terrible people, but it sucks that they felt they had to be that way. Also, Holling declared that he would have to go after Kaylie, but he didn't seem all that persistent. Gary was more persistent than Holling, and he was just horny. Lara was displayed perfectly, but I didn't really understand how her and Holling were in this together. Holling was in the prologue and how that works, but than Lara just shows up and wasn't really introduced as to why she was helping Holling.
Overall a great, easy read of a story. 4 stars out of 5 for this gal!

Lucifer has been a statue for almost 1000 years. Kylie is staying with her aunt Bea delivering antics for her shop. Kylie finds this wonderful statue of a gargoyle on a delivery a and is drawn to it. Little does she know gargoyles are real a d this one is trapped by a. magic spell. Luc suddenly wakes up during g a party. A beautiful lady in front of him, falls and passes out. Kylie kisses the statue and it wakes up. She is scared but interested, she is told that she has magic. Luc is her mate, and others are trying to destroy him and the others still as statues.
Gargoyles need more books written about them as this was absolutely fascinating with plenty of build-up and information that just made me want to read voraciously to see what happens next. Hopefully there will be many more additional books to become a series. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and their struggles, surprises, funny and steamy scenes, plus the supporting characters were a wonderful addition. Don't Miss Out...Check out for yourself!!!
I downloaded the sample out of curiosity. I love paranormal stuff and I haven't really read anything with gargoyles, I mean it sounds really interesting right?
Nope. I stopped in like the 3rd chapter or something like that when the author used the world "coochie". I mean, really? Out of all the words that could have been used, she went with that? I could not bring myself to read any further. I'm sorry, but when I can read something like TS Joyce or Suzanne Wright through Kindle Unlimited, I see no reason to subject myself to "coochie".
A wonderful start to a new series on Gargoyles. I loved all the characters, good and bad guys alike. The story has everything I enjoy in a paranormal romance; humor, romance, fight scenes, a great plot and a happy ending with a good teaser for the next installment. E. A.Price has become one of my Amazon instant buys. I didn't even read the story synopsis when I bought this one.
For all the time Kylie has been here this was the first time that the gates were closed, an there was a strange car in front of her. Finally after dropping off the antique mirror she fines herself lost in the house then the garden maze. After that encounter with the gargoyle in the garden everything else is tamed. Great read looking forward to seeing how they get an fine the next gargoyle can Kylie bring back the clan of gargoyles for Lue.
The author just knows how to write about strong alpha shifters, that happens to be gargoyle. The story was awesome and loved the chemistry of the characters. It was funny, exciting, had passion; kept you on your toes as it got more interesting and hopefully you'll have another book about them? Very enjoyable book and a must buy?
This was interesting, but hard to get past the typos in the beginning. A little difficult to catch my interest, until the gargoyle appears. A good idea, but the storyline is too close to Gargoyles, the animated t.v. show. Would be better if there was no similarities to the cartoon, and no referencing of King Arthur/Merlin.
Really enjoyed When a gargoyle awakens it was a great start to the gargoyles series , it was so interesting to read something so different and unique , Loved Luc with his sexy tail ,horns and wings and Kylie was such a layered individual looking forward to seeing where this series is heading I also loved the intrigue and magic great reading.
Great from start to finished. I lost track of time reading. I will be looking for more of your books, is it real are make believe I want tell read and see you will not be sorry
Absolutely brilliant, drama humor and romance. I cared about the characters which is important to me. The pace and humour made it an easy read, a perfect light recreational read. Leaving me with a warm glow and a sense of satisfaction.
Oh this book was so good! It was different and yet familiar, growing up with the TV show I've always hunted down really good books with Gargoyles as the main character. I would I've to see more like this one!!
25% until Luc was even awake and 71% until they were even a couple. The bad guy was also all over the place until you find out who it really is at the end. I was a tad bored and the story was just meh, but for $1.00? Decent. 3 stars.
Don't be put off by the cover. This book is a surprise, it is really good. I found it a little bit long winded to begin with, lots of detail, bit too much for me. But once he wakes it picks up. Extra characters that added to the story and ends with the next gargoyle waking ready for book 2.
