Kylie Walker is from a small city north of Toronto, Ontario. She loves to write contemporary romance with a whole lot of steam and suspense that will keep you guessing and wanting more!
This must be one of Ms. Walker’s first books. I say that because the writing is so juvenile. It was as if this was a creative writing assignment. And the way these gangsters spoke was as if they were in a cheesy C movie from the 70s. No 20-30 something says offed when referring to someone being killed.
There was lots of “the dark haired man” rather than just saying Shane. And please don’t get me started on the overuse of thesaurus words. For example Shane and Holly were having a glass of wine. Instead of simply saying Shane finished it in 2 sips, he “turned the glass up twice and emptied the vessel.” What?!! Shut up Kylie. Nobody talks like that.
And was Kirk sexually assaulting Holly during his visits or just brutalizing her? Why sugarcoat it? The book is already NC17, just tell us.
Despite my opinions I did like the story. Is Kelly going to be ok? How will the Wilder parents take the news? I guess we’ll have to wonder.
Definitely recommend great read, Holly's husband Tommy is keeping secrets from her and after he is murdered she learns what, Trying to provide for her daughter, keeping afloat the business they worked so hard to build all while living in fear of the man that threatens to destroy everything and keeping it a secret from everyone she cares about. Her world is on a downhill spiral feeling lost and like this nightmare will never end ,until the day that shane knocks on her door Tommy's twin brother who has Just been released from prison. Stiring feelings in her she never tbougbt she would feel again.
Wow what an amazing read by Kylie Walker. This book had me from early on and kept me glued to the story throughout the entire book. It was full of surprises and suspense. It was a nice love story about an ex con and a beautiful woman who fell in love with each other after so many years later on in their life. Holly was married to Tommy till he was killed by the guys who were blackmailing her for a debt he owed them. One his wife didn’t know about. They were ruthless and cruel to Holly, threatened her family if she didn’t pay up. But Shane was her knight in shiny armor and they were determined to end this. This book had it all in it and it was a fantastic read. Sexy, strong alpha male protecting his family. And a woman who tried to do it all with noones help. Great job Kylie ❤️❤️❤️
I look forward to reading Kylie's books but this one almost did me in. The story was meh because it was so difficult to read. Why? Was this even seen by an editor or proofreader? I had to re-read so much, it was hard to get into the meat of the story. At some point, I turned off my brain, stopped thinking and read words to finish. As for the story itself, there was no depth to the characters or the plot. None of it came alive or begged me to become invested in the outcome. It was just words on a screen. Better luck next time.
I was totally captivated by Shane and Holly’s story. Danger, death, lies and love filled this book and took me on an awesome journey. I was riveted to every single word and couldn’t stop reading it until I was finished. It’s absolutely amazing!! I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a amazing read
FREAKING HOT!!! Loved everything about this book from the HOT cover to the story itself. This book is really dark but the author did a very great job with this book. Kylie Walker is a new author to me and I can't wait to read more from this author.
Intense read from the happy family and successful restaurant with mob violence bringing it all tumbling down. Real characters bring the story to life and will have you biting your nails.
I read this book through Kindle Unlimited. The writing is good with the exception of needed editing for wrong word placement in sentences. This isn't one of my favorite type of books, to much internal monologue and not enough character dialogue. This review may contain mild spoilers.
Holly married her high school sweetheart Tommy when she became pregnant with Madison at age 18. She gave up her dreams to be a mother and supportive wife helping her husband to achieve his dreams of owning his own restaurant. Shane is Tommys identical twin brother who went to prison for a crime he didn't commit before Madison was born.
The books opens up on the death of Tommy and Holly trying to recover from her own injuries, taking care of her daughter and running the restaurant on her own. The restaurant is in trouble and she ultimately ends up being blackmailed by someone who says Tommy owed his organization money. Shane is released from prison several months after this and heads home to reconnect with his family and Holly. He has loved Holly all his life but lost her to his brother. Both of these things are inter related all being tied back to Shanes involvement that put him in prison.
There is a HEA but I do hope there is a second book as there was a lot left unresolved. Looks like a story of Kelly's (Hollys best friend) recovery and Alex (the man Shane went to prison for) to be told.
What a heartbreaking, violent , exciting, and action pack book. This was filled with danger, with star-crossed lovers and with so much –OOMPH to this story that I didn’t know what was coming next. Holly went from a good marriage to her huband to the last days were horrible and then he was murdered in front of her and she almost died as well in the “robbery” in their restaurant. She almost didn’t make it but she came back for their daughter. After his death, Holly finds out why her husband acted the way he was and she starts getting threats to pay for his mistakes and she is stuck so she ends up paying and paying. Shane, Holly’s used to be best friend and her brother in law, is now out of jail and has heard about his brother’s death. He is a twin and he is ready to face Holly and his niece. He is one sexy bad boy ready to take on everything to make amends for the past. He loved Holly then but due to his going to jail, he let his brother “win” Holly and end up married to her but now he is ready to be there for her, in anyway possible. When he hears about the danger she is in, he is ready to help. Holly and Shane took on the bad guys but while doing that, Holly’s best friend got caught in the cross fire in a horrible way. There were things that shouldn’t have been done to women in this book but for the story to be told, I could see why it happened. The ending was fantastic and was so kicka&& . The secondary characters in this book really need to get a story/ book of their own (holly and alex). Holly and Shane really had some hot chemistry that made this story deeper and more complex. Their sexual tension, the real feelings that came across were good. I loved the intensity and passion that they created. And like I said, the ending was great. I hope to read more about Holly and Alex someday in their own book(s).
Indebted by Kylie Walker is a stand-alone romance that falls in the brother-in-law sub-genre, but in a way that isn't cheating or involves a love-triangle. It is a powerful story that pulls absolutely no punches and dives directly into the grit of the story in the first few pages.
Here we have a couple in love, married with a daughter, running a restaurant and seemingly everything is fine to an outside observer but there are so many underlying issues that the beautiful façade begins to crack and then quickly shatters.
For the sake of spoilers, I'm keeping this simple, but the characters are awesome and as I learned more about the background and details of the situations that placed Holly in harms way while trying to handle Tommy's debt, and what brought Shane back into her and her daughters lives, I couldn't put this book down. Kylie Walker is definitely one of my new fave authors!
Ok, first every other paragraph was " dark haired woman" or " young woman" instead of just calling her by her name. Holly. It drove me freaking crazy. Also she used "in a thrice" I had to look it up. It means in a moment. Now the story. Holly sees her husband murdered right in front of her. Now she's raising her little girl, running her late husband's restaurant, and now her brother in law is out of jail and back. Shane was a twin to Tommy, Holly's late husband. He had been in jail for eight years for taking the fall for someone else. Molly's husband was in debt and now they want her to finish paying it off. Each time the man comes to collect, he beats and humiliates Molly. She doesn't want to fall for Shane but he is irresistible. Shane has waited ten years and nothing will stop him from loving Molly and his niece. The story was good it was just the mistakes and using her hair color instead of her name.
I love Kylie's books!! They are always full of suspense and romance. This story is about Holly, a woman who is trying to deal with all that life has given her. Holly's life seemed complete...she had a loving husband, a beautiful daughter and a successful restaurant. When her husband becomes distant she doesn't know why until it is too late. His death was hard of her daughter - she wouldn't accept her daddy couldn't come back. His death also put Holly in a horrible position....one that required her to take horrible abuse to keep her family alive. But everything changes when her husband's twin Shane gets out of prison. He immediately realizes things aren't right. He loves Holly and his niece and knows he has to find a way to get her out of harms way.....loved the story and the ending!!

Exciting story full of action, intrigue, suspense and violence. Holly was suffering dealing alone with the aftermath of her husband murder. He had made bad decisions and now she had to pay for his mistakes. Shane had been serving time that because of his bad decisions and now he had returned changed and willing for a new life. But the past was still there, lurking in the dark, waiting to strike and affecting them all. Sanity was at stake and our main characters were confronted with ruthless and very wicked characters. This story kept me at the edge but I enjoyed a lot the action and the outcome of the story. The author had a knack for this kind of stories that may the reader needing to keep the emotions at bay all the time. Now I think we need Alex and her bestie’s story because that was a heavy blow.
Wow, intense, suspense, drama, excitement, murder, heartbreak, sadness, recovery, healing. Such an in depth, emotional journey for Holly, she and her husband Tommy have a thriving restaurant, but things go bad, people come in kill him, badly injure her. Now trying to make a life for herself, and their daughter, a guy shows up stating she has to pay off her husbands debt, but he is abusive to her, keeps her quiet by threatening her family and friends. Shane, her husband's twin is now out of jail, for a crime he didn't committ, decides to look up his family, what he has left, he has always loved Holly. Great story, so much action, heartwarming, learning to love again.
I am an avid Kylie Walker. Indebted is just another one of her great works. It offers so much from loss, betrayal, honesty, and lies. There are some twists that will break your heart but also make you smile. As well as some brutality that (thankfully) isn't told in explicit detail. I can actually see where this book could have been a series instead of just one book because of Kelly and Alex do deserve their own happy ending.
Note: There are triggers that would not be good for some. Killings, illegal activity, rape, and abuse. While some are not given in detail, they are apart of the story.
I really enjoyed this book! Holly is facing pain you can't imagine after her husband is murdered in front of her and she is stabbed and left for dead. But she has a little girl to take care of. Her husbands twin was just released from jail and comes to meet his niece. He has been in love with Holly since high school. Holly is being threatened by the mob. But Shane is also dealing with his past demons. He's afraid to get close to Holly and bring harm to her. Little do they know there threats are connected and they will need to fight together to win. Great story of second chance for Shane to get the girl.
The author delivers an emotional and action packed story.
It just took one moment to change everything in her life. Her husband's murder starts her on a path that exposes her to a different world. One man is on her side and gives her some hope for a better future for her and her daughter.
I enjoyed the story and the characters. There are plenty of surprises to keep you wondering what will happen next. It is a tough journey but along with the pain is love and hope.
Holly experienced a complete horror right before her eyes that left her reeling for a year while she worked hard to keep her business afloat and care for her young daughter. When she thought the horrors were over, she realized that she was forced to be indebted to a man or place in danger those she loved. She finally got revenge but that came with another fear. There is definitely a positive ending; I definitely recommend adding Indebted to your to-read list.
I'm giving this 10 because right off in the beginning of this book it jumps right into it with the characters story, then the history , family ,love, heartache ,happiness ,and so much in this book . Not I have to worn you if you are one of those people that can't take the darkness of the books out there this is not your book but if you can handle a little darkness grab this book well worth it.
I found this to be a really interesting read. It's had lots of twists and turns and just when you thought you had it all figured out your hit with a OMG moment. I also felt that Holley was all in her right to feel upset and betrayed by her husband and move on but I think she kinda rush things with Shane but that just my opinion. Overall it's a really great read.
