The Bible provides ancient wisdom and values that can lead to a life of great success today. After years of biblical study and personal experience, William Douglas and Rubens Teixeira have identified twenty-five key principles that are of central importance to the pursuit of a successful career and life. In this practical and powerful book, readers will learn
- twenty-five biblical laws of success - cures for seven sins that block success - what Solomon teaches in Proverbs about professional accomplishments - the mindset that encourages personal development - ten personal virtues coveted by the market - how to have money and success with harmony and balance in life
Anyone who wants to succeed in a career or business will benefit from The 25 Biblical Laws of Success .
William Douglas is a federal judge in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a university professor, a popular speaker, and the author of thirty-five books, including the Brazilian edition of The 25 Biblical Laws of Success, with over 250,000 copies sold. He is part of Educafro, a Brazilian organization working to prevent racial prejudice and promote equal opportunities, and is the entrepreneurship coordinator for social projects for United Missions, part of the Brazilian Baptist Convention. He is also part of the Brazilian Evangelical Academy of Writers.
A good/OK book that ties key principles from the Christian Bible to commonly practiced/taught success principles in business, self-improvement, etc. It's great to have it as a resource to tie several scriptures to key concepts. It is important that the reader has access to a Bible to follow up and draw some of their own conclusions on the cited passages. Next versions could go deeper to make a greater impact.
Douglas & Teixeira's book, The 25 Biblical Laws of Success is a surprisingly good entry into this challenging and largely un-tapped sub-genre of Christian non-fiction. (Perhaps as interesting as the subject matter of the book is the background of the authors, which I applaud the authors for generally leaving out of the text - I digress.) Perhaps the reason this subject is untapped is that it is sometimes difficult to find "biblical wisdom" to guide you through a SWOT analysis - though the authors manage to do it! However, I will share a short piece of personal knowledge I recently gained from a graduate course on Christian worldview: the Bible can and should be the basis for your worldview through which you then filter all truth claims. I am wholly convinced that there is not a single aspect of life that Scripture cannot address, business included. To that end, the authors have developed what they believe to be 25 laws that are derived from Scripture and apply to the business world. Furthermore, they contend, and mostly, I agree, that adhering to these 25 "laws" (not to be confused with the law from which we were freed!) is the best way to conduct business and find success in your career and your life. Some of these laws include things like focus, joy, resilience, honesty, gratitude, and generosity.
What I really appreciated was the brief conclusion the authors wrote: a no-holds-barred plea for the reader to stay connected to the vine and to always keep Jesus at the center of everything, including your business and career. I cannot think of better advice.

This book is a resource tool to be part of anyone’s professional library, but it’s not written only for entrepreneurs, professionals. Its concepts can be applied in any work environment, or any relationship—either personal or professional. The authors reference the books of Proverbs and Ecclesiasties frequently, which are the “self help” books of the Bible. Numerous examples are cited of people who attained great wealth and success by applying these principles, as well as those who lost wealth and success by ignoring them. I know that I will try to apply these ideas in my own professional pursuits and daily life.
We love our work. We hate our work. Work brings fulfillment and financial reward, but it also has the ability to rob us of energy, joy, and purpose. Why should we work? Is work good or bad? How much work is too much work?
In the book, 25 Biblical Laws of Success: Powerful Principles to Transform Your Career and Business, William Douglas and Rubens Teixeira show the reader principles from the scriptures that equip and instruct us on work and wealth. The book lays out 25 principles from the Bible under the five main headings of:
Laws Concerning Wisdom Laws Concerning Work Laws Concerning Values Laws Concerning Relationships Laws Concerning Personal Growth
The authors follow up the sections on success by highlighting the seven cardinal sins that keep us from achieving true success. The sins of:
Haste Avarice Not Enjoying Your Work Anger Against Wealth Jealousy or Covetousness Sloth Pride
As I read, I could tell that these two successful men from Brazil were writing this book not only to give advice but to point the reader to the only true wisdom found in Jesus. In the conclusion entitled, *Beyond Secular Success—This Madness Called Jesus*, Ruben and William point out that Jesus, who was the most successful man who ever lived because He was God in flesh, did not have anywhere to lay His head. They instruct the reader that true riches and wisdom are found in Him. William and Ruben write, “Jesus will always be a mystery for those who seek redemption by their own merit, wealth, or wisdom. For those who want to go it alone, who think they can make it on their own, and who believe they are fine without him, Jesus’ ideas are uncomfortable.” (p. 213) We should strive for excellence. We should strive to generate wealth and income, but at the end of day “what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?”
Memorable Quotes: “Planning is not something you can do once and never do again. It is an everyday labor.” (p. 48) “Courage also means initiative.” (p.66) “One piece of advice is to learn how to say no.” (p.50) “The more you use the ax, the more it edge dulls and becomes less effective unless you sharpen it again. Learn to sharpen your ax.” (p. 61) “We admire and respect the elite, the rich, the wise, the PhD’s of the world, but we are devoted to a God who also helps the poor, the weak, and the unfortunate-those who did not attain success as defined by society.” (p. 213) “You may be intelligent, successful, or powerful. You may have properties, titles, and positions. But you should not believe you have an advantage over others or a spiritual privilege because of secular success.” (pp. 213-214)
Many see the Bible as a religious book; it is that. However, the Bible also has relevance in many areas outside of religious teachings. There are passages on: parenting, marriage, friendships, and government to name a few. The Bible also speaks to business.
While not normally thought of as a business book, William Douglas and Rubens Teixeira have sought to change that in their book The 25 Biblical Laws of Success. Using the Bible, Douglas and Teixeira list 25 laws that the Bible teaches that should aid many to success. I shall list all 25 laws but will point out one law that stood out to me: the Law of Wisdom. This law states that "Wisdom is the foundation on which success is achieved." (p. 23) One of the ways wisdom lends itself to success is by using advisers.
These advisers are brought in to assist with company growth and atmosphere. They can be managers, business evaluators, or a board of directors to give a few examples. When advisers are utilized that can give insight into what is working, what is not but needs to be fixed, and what is working and needs to be dismissed.
Sadly, many do not invest in wise counsel and suffer for it. They believe things will fix themselves or simply do not see problems to be addressed. This can come from one of the Cardinal Sins Against Success, as the authors title them. That sin is pride. Believing that "I can do it on my own. I do not need help." has caused many to fail when it need not be the case.
I found this book to be an excellent resource acting as a primer to give to entering the workforce in whatever capacity they enter. Setting a good foundation will allow for opportunities for success and to weather the storms of difficult times. This book can used to lay this foundation.

I’ve used several of the mentioned principles to create wealth for myself over my life, so I know for a fact these are “laws of success”. What a lot of folks don’t realize is that the Bible is the “OG” self-help book that contemporary self help books draw upon either consciously or non consciously. Good read.
O estudo dos textos bíblicos e doutrinas escolhidos deixa muito a desejar. Mas considerei a leitura proveitosa filtrando os conselhos pessoais e profissionais dos autores - reconhecidamente experientes e excelentes no mundo do trabalho.
This book deserves my 5 star rating over and over again!!!! The authors did a really great job explaining in easy-to-understand format what it takes to make it professionally regardless of religious affiliation if any. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to master the laws of success.
This book was a gift from a friend, and it has been sitting on my shelf for some time. I finally picked it up, and while the content is all very good, it all felt very obvious for someone who has grown up around Biblical teaching. Full of good reminders, but no real “ah-ha’s.”
good incorporation of biblical perspectives into the workplace. though, there are quite a few instances where you will see the book was also written for those that don't necessarily read of believe in the Bible in it's entirety.
Absolutely horrendous book! This book picks verses and then misapplies them for the purpose of “inspiring” the worker. I believe the Bible has a lot to say on the topic of leadership but this work is watered down, eisegesis application of holy Scripture.
This is perhaps, to me , one of the best books out here or among the best books out here which shows that the writer knows what he is talking about. This should be regarded as a classic. Buy wisdom and sell it not. Enjoy this book and again, reread it as I will be doing again into 2024.
Ele da dicas e conselhos sobre as leis bíblicas que nos traz sucesso em todos os âmbitos da vida, mas o mais importante é o sucesso que Jesus nos quer dar, a Salvação.
