While I'm still leery of the execution, I want to give Double Take publishing credit for a really interesting concept.
This line of comics shows several different locations in Pennsylvania at the same time the zombie uprising was occurring during the original NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD Movie. So the series are all set in 1966 at various important locations.
This volume is set at a radio station. It's even more interesting because the broadcasts are heard in the other volumes in the series to give everything a tight feel of continuity.
Now, the stories do get a little out there, as they are mixing super hero type stories in with the zombies. In this one, a sexy radio dj eventually ends up as a giant woman, presumably to eventually fight the zombies but that point isn't reached here. The art isn't bad but cartoony as all the Double Take volumes have been.
If you're a fan of the original NOTLD movie, or are just looking for a very different type of graphic novel, the Double Take books could be for you.
Another one of these Double Take books that goes off the rails. A woman runs a radio station while zombies are all around and she puts them to work. Meanwhile her boss keeps showing up in different places in the Western Hemisphere partying and telling the same story. Over the course of one day, he's partying it up everywhere from California to Machu Pichu. Then at one point, the DJ turns into the 50 foot woman. None of it makes any sense. I'm still shocked these comics ever got made.
