My oldest daughter got all ten of the books in this series at the Fairfax County Public Library's teen book festival several years ago and she fell in love with these books.

I wasn't as eager to dive into zombie lore, but I changed my mind after an incident where she lent out the books to a friend close to a year ago and feared she'd never see them again.

Once we'd retrieved them, her enthusiasm for the story and the way the events were portrayed in the different books persuaded me to give them a chance..

Because the books occur basically simultaneously, she said that there's not one particular order in which you are supposed to read them, so she is picking them out for me to read and I started with this one.

I can see how the simultaneous nature of the events makes it challenging to see the whole picture and I suppose that it's not until you've read all of them that you can grasp the myriad complexities of the plot and characters.

So I am still quite in the dark about all of the goings on, but I really enjoy it so far.

I didn't realize until I went to post this review that the books are based on the original ,"Night of the Living Dead movie. I think I've seen part of it before, but I don't remember the plot (other than zombies, duh). I will have to watch it to compare.

Found a bunch of these at the library even though I've never heard of Double Take before. I guess this is what Bill Jemas has been doing after leaving Marvel and before starting AWA. Apparently it's a nod to the original Night of the Living Dead. But the zombies don't follow any rules and act like normal people sometimes until they start to eat people. It's supposed to take place in the Sixties but without the racism and misogyny of the era because there are both black and female police officers and everyone in the book is OK with it. Also, everyone curses way more than you'd typically see in anything set in the era. I guess Bill Jemas was a better publisher than he is a writer.

I'm a huge zombie fan so I was excited about stories set in the same night as Night of the Living Dead. A lot of characters are thrown out quickly and given zero depth. Plot is super thin and the story just fizzles out. I won't be picking up another issue.

I've been following the Double Take Universe since they launched their first issues last year and love all their books! The visuals are fun and beautiful; the stories are captivating. And I love how they make their letters so easy to read. I usually have trouble reading the letters in other publishers' comics.
