Debt

Rate this book
I was just supposed to be helping my father settle his debt, work out a payment plan, set things right.

Little did I know that cold, calculating, dangerous Byron St. James didn't want his money back. Oh, no. He wanted me as payment...

* This is a 'jerk who redeems himself' story. And make no mistake, our hero IS a jerk to the heroine for a good part of the book. If that isn't your thing, this might not be the book for you.

"I want your life...or your daughter."

When I heard this author was going to do a new book that's not connected to any of the Henchmen, I was beyond excited. Not to say that I don't like those books, but getting something new from a favorite author is always an exciting adventure. I've loved everything that Jessica Gadziala has written so far and I just knew that this would be an amazing book. It was unlike anything I've ever read by her, but she knocked this new story out of the park. It may have been out of her comfort zone but you would never know that. Her writing was flawless, as always, and while reading Debt you'd think she's written many books like this one.

This is marketed as an asshole hero who changes his ways, and it is that. But the amazing thing about the book is that fact that Byron doesn't change too much. He's honestly just an asshole through the whole book, what changed the most was the way I felt about him. At first I wanted to hate him with all my passion, but as the book went on I couldn't help but love him. His personality grew a little softer as the story progressed but there was no sudden change of character. Basically, the guy you met at the beginning was the same one you said goodbye to at the end. And that's what I loved about him, he was who he was with no shame.

I liked Prue's character a lot, even if I found her to be a little annoying at times. When she finally spoke up and stopped lurking in the shadows she was really sassy and strong. I liked that she didn't let Byron push her around too much and learned to take what she wanted. For such a young girl she held a lot of responsibilities, and I enjoyed how she never complained about that fact. She just accepted it and made the best of her situation.

Overall, this book is a definite recommend from me. If you love Jessica Gadziala you'll be pleasantly surprised with her new storyline. And if you've never read her before this is a great book to introduce you to her style of writing, which is great.

Overall Opinion: I was excited for this one, because I enjoy this author's ability to tell unique stories. While it was a storyline that I've heard before (like a few of her others too), I always appreciate her different take on it. That wasn't different with this book. I just don't feel like it was executed very well. I had issues with the pacing and not feeling the overall connection between the h and H. They had hot sex and chemistry, but I didn't feel it on an emotional level. I didn't connect to them on an individual basis either. I'm just ending this one feeling...meh *shrugs*

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Prue and Byron's story. Prue's father is addicted to gambling and Byron owns his favorite casino, so when her father finds himself in a large debt Prue ends up being the desired currency. She moves in with him and has to do whatever he requests in order to settle the debt. After spending more and more time together, they cannot deny the sexual chemistry between them. After a little family and ex ONS drama, some hot sexy times, and a few sweet times...they get a HEA ending.

POV: This alternated between Prue and Byron's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Ok. I thought it flowed well for the most part and I never skimmed, but the ending was just a little too easy and clean for me to believe it. It also was another book that has the resolution to their big conflict at the very end. They share "ILYs" for the first time, and then it goes to the epilogue...hate that (maybe I'm the only one, because it seems like more and more authors are doing this!!)!

Instalove: No. I feel like they had sufficient time to develop feelings.

H rating: 2.5 stars. Byron. I had some issues with him. He was a mega jerk. I'm ok with that if I feel like he redeems himself -- but I never really got that. Yes, he knew his way around the bedroom and was hot that way, but it just wasn't enough for me.

h rating: 3 stars. Prue. I thought she was ok. I wanted her to be stronger at times, and at others I was ok with her vulnerability...so just ok.

Sadness level: Low. No tissues needed.

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Moderate/high. They have some hot chemistry and scenes. There was a good bit of sex in this one, and while that usually isn't an issue for me -- I wanted more connection of the non-physical kind. I wouldn't say that it took away from the storyline, but I needed more than hot sex to connect them (if that makes sense :/).

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes. Condoms are mentioned, and after std and birth control talk -- they go without. I don't remember any mention of previous practices.

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: Kind of

Cheating: No

Separation:Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had a few jump ahead epilogues that gave them a HEA. I would normally want some more cemented commitment, but we get some....

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: I'd say that this is probably Safe with exception or Not Safe depending on personal preferences.

I was really excited to read this book because I absolutely adored the author’s previous works. I really enjoyed this one too, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations. Still a great read, but I found myself frustrated with a few details.

The negatives: The story was very fast paced. Almost too fast paced though. I felt like the two main characters fell in love way too fast. I really wanted to see their relationship build more. The romance between the characters didn't really feel real for me. Also, I didn’t like the sense of predictability. There were some nice little twists involving the lead couple but not something really special that would catch my strong interest. The story had so much potential but didn't quite deliver for me. The concept was good just needs some work.

What I loved: I loved seeing how Byron dealt with his transformation from bad guy to good guy that everyone's rooting for and I liked Prudence’s straightforwardness and sassiness. Hero was a total possessive, obsessive, jerk, hyper-alpha male!! And I totally loved it! Their chemistry was undeniable and HOT!

While I wasn't quite as in love with this book as I was with other works of Ms Gadziala, it was still a really enjoyable read. I’ve tried to be honest and forthright with my review. I know the author has a talent and can write. And this is a wonderful love story! Comes highly recommended.

I think I'd like a bit of kinky Byron

I was really lookin forward to this book an I luvd that I didn't know much about this book before I read it an I wasn't disappointed I just knew that whatever the author did was goin to be good I 've most of her books an luvd everyone she really knows how to write r great story an bring out the most in her characters an this book was just the same but I did find it a lil predictable in parts but I did like that flow of the story so it didn't really bother me

I found Byron to b a very strong Alpha character which I really liked an him bein very sexy just made him even better he can also be very annoyin in parts as,well but I found that Prue could handle him just fine Prue as had to be quiet strong as well at a young age but there both strong in different ways what I did enjoy in this book was how the characters both changed they both changed for the better an when they got together they were so good but things can't alway be simple

I enjoyed this book it was nice to have something different from this author an I would highly recommend her books an I would this book as well I luv her work xxx

4.75 "love hits you when you least expect it" stars

This was my first book by this author and i went in half-blind cause i initially liked the blurb...and from the first page on i simply started grinning...later on i had a smug face...and after that just nodding my head and *wink*

It all starts with this sentence:
“I want his life,“ he said, putting the gun on the surface of the desk, „or I want you.“

Said by Byron St. James – a cold, cruel casino owner and businessman to Prudence/Prue and her father Mack when faced these two options as the settelment of her father's gambling debt to this man.

And you might think, well this is start of nice hanky-panky fuckery and what not, BUT you couldn't be more wrong...it's a front, a starting line for the most intriguing characterisation and story development. I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed in every single aspect of this book.

Anyway, following the storyline, Prue, logically accepts this asshole's proposition
Byron St. James wasn't just any normal boss. Byron St. James was the boss equivalent of a third-world fascist dictator...

Byron St. James, asshole to rule all assholes, ice king extraordinaire...

and with it the journey of finding her true self starts while exploring the boundaries of what seems to be the chemistry plowing its starting point of love for both of them.
The man who's direct and blunt, a brute, demanding, domineering prick but he also can be giving and kind on occassion...he's not a good man, but he's not a bad one either.
He wasn't a good guy. He didn't have a heart. He was cold, cruel, calculated, cocky and manipulative. He was selfish...

But right then, right there in his own bed, his dark eyes on mine, he wasn't that man. He wasn't the Byron St. James I had come to accept, and maybe even respect in a sick sort of way. He was giving, good and kind...

The hateful and resentful banter between them only hightens the sparks flying around...but what he eventually slowly does for her – is setting her free from the confines of her own rules, her repressed posture trapped in her own stiff predictaments, her own pre-scheduled plans of action...
“You're so afraid of life that you're barely fucking living it.

he pushes her limits - sexually, mentally and emotionally, and she's on the irreversible course...
I realized in a moment of binding, Earth-shaking clarity, that I had never felt anything even akin to it before. It was too soon. It was stupid. It was reckless. It was completely and insanely unlike me. But I loved him.

I was hopelessly in love with someone who could never and would never love me back,
someone I would have to walk away from sooner rather than later, and in doing so, leave parts of myself bloodies and strewn...

...0f setting her free without considering or being aware of the fact that her liberation would be his undoing.

But in the end, it's all worth the trouble, fighting the fears, taking the leap, breaking the chains that supressed you, growing in search of yourself and finding it with another in the most essential and crucial of ways...

What could you possibly get from being with me?
Myself.
I got to be myself...

Fantastic, fluent writing, sexy dialogues, love/hate banter, strong alpha/prick sexy man and bold, endearing, sweet, selfless and warmhearted heroine will capture you in their grip and show you what it takes to fall in love when that's the least you wanna do...

Ready to RELAX into some great reading? Forget it! Jessica Gadziala, with her HUGE gift for storytelling pushed almost every single button I had. Debt is described as a “jerk who redeems himself“ story, but wait! There’s MORE, a LOT more!

Prue has given up living to attempt to fix her father’s gambling addiction, pay off debts, get her dad help, but the loveable guy just can’t dig himself out and now he has hit the jackpot, not the jackpot of winnings, but of Debt and payment in full is due. His life or his daughter’s services, yep, really. (Button One has been pushed)

Byron St. James, casino owner, mega-rich and twisted, seems to have Prue in a bind and she knows it. Prue agrees to be his Girl Friday and endures the menial tasks, degradation and skimpy outfit he forces her to wear with more grace and poise then I could have. (Button Two is ignited)

The next level of Hell Jessica takes us to is when Prue becomes a sexual toy for Byron at his whim and command. (Yep, Button Three is sounding the alarms.) The only thing that saved my Kindle from taking a flight into a wall was the background story, NOT that it will redeem Byron so far, but his methods and madness are keeping Button Four from going off, yet, but it does.

Jessica Gadziala writes without fear of reactions from her readers. This woman puts it out there and gives us an anti-hero that is completely hateable and a heroine who has more, um, “guts” than any high testosterone guy. I was positively riveted to each page, even the ones that were smolderingly hot. The dialogue is priceless, the attitudes run high and once again Jessica Gadziala has turned out another gem of a read. Not for the faint of heart, not for those who cannot open their minds and read between the lines, there is a tale of love for a parent, and the potential for huge change in the characters, certainly for the better as facades are dropped and there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Good thing, too, I was crawling out of my skin, screaming this is wrong on so many levels! (But, yes, I kept reading;) )!

I received this copy from Jessica Gadziala in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. See, I love me a jerk alphahole to hero, but Byron was pushing my boundaries in the beginning O_o. But he's an asshole, knows he's an asshole and owns it. What I love is the JG didn't turn him into a hearts and flowers mushy softy, he's an asshole all the way through, although he does show Prue his softer side at times.

Also, at first I was a tad bit worried Prue was going to be a doormat, but once she got her head out of her backside she didn't take his crap. She's a strong heroine, no TSTL, and loves with her whole heart. He dad really took the proverbial, which is what landed her in the situation she found herself in with no way out.

4.25 I really liked this one stars

Liked it, didn't love it.

I'll be quick because I'm in a hurry today.

This book started off as a 5 star read to me. It was dark at first. And I looooved Byron's character. Loved him! From the very first page till I hit the end.

I also liked Prue. But I didn't love her and she annoyed me quite a tad, especially later in the story. She was a strong and mouthy heroine at first. Yet her strength somehow disappeared whenever Byron touched her and she turned pretty needy and pathetic quite quickly. And I was waiting for the moment when she finally tells him to fuck off and walks away. That, however, didn't happen. She was way too weak, submissive and generally doormaty for my liking.

All in all, the story is good, gripping. The style of writing is fantastic and as it always is with Gadziala's books in my case, I stayed up till 3 am. That's why I'm dead on my feet and in a hurry.
Was it my fave? No. But still worth reading.

A solid 3 stars

Loved the beginning and build up between this pair, but it did drag a little through the middle. I liked that Byron was an asshole, but I found it hard to see the change from his fixation with Prue to love.

Also loved the epilogues.

"While looks-wise, he won the genetic lottery, substance-wise, he had all the appeal of a festering garbage can on a sweltering summer day."

This is the OW scene that's at 14% for anyone that isn't sure about trying this one because of it. It wasn't as bad as I expected and at the time the h hated the H.

Love, love, loved it!

I have read many romance novels about a woman being taken for her father’s debt and I have to say I was very surprised with this one. I thought I knew what would happen in this book but I was pleasantly and unexpectedly wrong. I don’t want to give any spoilers away so that’s all you're gonna get. I made it a point not to read any reviews before I started this book, I think I barely read the synopsis. All I knew was that Jessica wrote it. I think I have read all but two of Jessica’s books (I’m getting there) and as much as I am in love with her Savages and Henchman series I think this one is my favorite. Its very different than her others and I was up until 3 in the morning because I just had to finish it. I thought the writing was excellent and some of her best work, I think I probably highlighted half the book.

It starts off with Prudence thinking she could arrange payments for her father’s large debt for excessive gambling. Pru’s father has a serious gambling addiction that interferes with their lives but Pru loves her father and he’s the only family she has left. She has had to clean up her father’s messes her whole life and she unwittingly thinks she can fix this one too. How wrong she is.

I love Pru and Byron, they are so good for each other although it takes them awhile to realize it. Byron helps Pru step out of her comfort zone and realize she needs to put herself first. Pru teaches Byron how to love and be a better person.

They both have issues, he’s a one-and-done arrogant, prick. She’s sweet and selfless.

”But Byron was about as opposite as someone could get from me. He was very free with his thoughts and opinions and, I imagined, his emotions. But in a macho, badass kind of way. And I was about as repressed as a person could be. He was selfish. I was always bending over backward until my spine threatened to crack for others. He was cocky as I was comfortably confident with no delusions of grandeur. He was rich. I was poor. He demanded things. I was afraid to even ask for them...He called bullshit on things that I didn't even realize were bullshit until he brought it up. He showed me sides of myself I hadn't been aware of possessing.”

When they finally get together their romantic encounters are steamy hot, hot, hot!

Read this book you will not be disappointed!!

Jessica always writes intriguing side characters and I am hoping we can get books for Matt and Aaron!

This is a standard 'take the heroine as payment' story with the twist that the hero, Byron, really isn't that bad of a guy. He does talk like a jerk, but for the most part, he's really a nice guy, especially where Prue is concerned. Pretty much everything he does is in her best interest; he just does it with a bad attitude. It's not until halfway into the book that they finally get intimate with each other. Afterwards, Prue spends much of the time questioning his intentions, hoping he will change, and then berating herself for having such stupid thoughts. Byron, in turn, believes he's no good for her, thinks true love doesn't exist, and tries to convince himself this hunger he has for her will pass. Rinse and repeat from 50% to 87% until they decide they can make it work together.

I found the overuse of the word "babe" distracting (it shows up over 80 times). There were also several idioms with wrong/missing words that had me scratching my head, i.e. "as he took his feet" instead of "took to his heels" or "took to his feet." Also "didn't raise to the bait" and "urge to leash into him." It was peppered with other spelling errors that took me out of the story, like when Byron was "steeping his hands in front of his mouth" or when a "contended Prue" was dancing. In the end, this just wasn't for me.

I really really enjoyed this book. Jessica stepped away from her series and gave a hot, steamy standalone that I couldn't put down.
While it was a common storyline, it kept me interested and (as always) JG's words flowed easily and never left me bored. I loved that she tipped into the Dom/sub genre a tiny bit....I absolutely LOVE a good flogging as well as a super arrogant, bossy Dom.
As with her other books, I am intrigued with a few of her 2ndary men and I am hoping she explores her kinky, dirty side even more.

Thank you so much dear Jess for my ARC!!!!!

Prue has spent her life fixing her fathers gambling problems, although each time she is fed up she is also not willing to let the one person who means something in her life a reason to give up on her. When she sets up a meeting to work out a payment plan with Byron St. James, she never expected the ultimatum though her father's life or hers.

Byron doesn't have plans to kill Prue, he wants her. She is a conundrum that he can't quite wrap his head around. He plans on having her underneath him, but there is a certain guilty pleasure in tormenting her. With her flippant responses and frequent eye rolls, Byron isn't sure where any of this will lead but he plans to work Prue out of his system.

I don't want to divulge to much but wowza. Had a few unexpected turns and Byron is a jerk you love to hate. Sizzling read that you can't put down until the very end.

-The sitch is this. Prue goes to see local casino owner Byron, after her degenerate gambler father ends up in major debt to him, to try and work out a payment plan that doesn’t involve bodily injury to her pop. Byron’s all about taking payment from Prue, but it doesn’t involve any dollar bills. He explains that he can either take the payment in her dad’s life, or just take her. Indentured submissive with an jerk-alpha hero? One flawed romance, coming right up.

-A bit of Stockholm syndrome with my BDSM lite romance In the very beginning, Byron certainly has no qualms in scaring the bejesus out of Prue. However, it quickly lightens up, as Prue starts to understand that Byron’s bark is worse than his bite, and the heat generated between Byron and Prue kept me turning the page.

-Firsts well done. If you’ve never read my reviews, I believe the Firsts are crucial to carry a romance. The first meet, the first kiss and the first love scene. If those are done well, I can forgive alot. That is the case here. There was good chemistry between Prue and Byron and it helped me enjoy this, even with the issues I had. Which leads me to….

-Equality is important. Even when a person is submissive sexually, I like to see some sort of backbone outside of the bedroom. Now, while the story worked on some levels, Prue is pretty meek. I’ll admit, I prefer a heroine who can challenge a jerk hero, go toe to toe with him, so I can feel that their relationship is on equal footing. Now, if her character arc had been stronger, had her journey lead her to actually accomplishing things on her own, instead of being “guided” there by others, perhaps I could have connected more with her.

-Byron is EXACTLY what I expected. Byron on the other hand, was advertised as the jerk hero and he certainly is that, at least verbally. Byron treats Prue pretty callously at first, but his actions as the story progressed spoke louder than his harsh words and that helped tremendously in accepting his brutal honesty. The only thing that put me off is a scene at the beginning of the story , but it's well before any actual feelings or relationship begins with Prue so I could get past it.

-Not enough time spent on dialogue. With a strong start, the story falters towards the end. What lowered my rating was the fact that I wasn’t as invested in the romance, even if it entertained me. Both Prue and Byron’s character arcs aren’t drawn as well I would have liked.

It’s told in alternating first person, with the majority of the chapters dedicated to Prue’s view of the world. I think that they needed more time spent talking and connecting about more than their sexual attraction to each other. There are moments, but not enough of them.Instead, when it came to the emotional stuff, they spent more time explaining their feelings via their own repetitive internal monologues, which can lend to a feeling of isolation. Ultimately, that’s what made it fall a bit short for me.

description
I liked it. Imperfect, but engaging, it started strong, even if it sort of petered out at the end. I’d like to see more of Ms. Gadziala’s writing, hopefully with stronger character development and a bit more time spent on external, instead of just internal, dialogue.

I was so excited to read Debt as I love everything that Jessica writes! She did not disappoint! I loved this book even though it was a little different to her other books but still just as good.

Yeah babe. But that's fucking life. It's reckless and stupid and messy. And you do shit sometimes just because it feels good or because it wold be an interesting story one day, or for fuck's sake, even for bragging rights. Not everything needs to be analyzed to death. Not everything has to be smart and well planned out.

I think Byron, although he came across as an ass at the start, I think deep down he just wanted the best for Prue. I loved Pru's sassiness and how she was never afraid to say how it is. I loved how their story flowed and I was never bored! I'd highly recommend picking Debt up and reading it! :)

I was so myself with him that it was painful. My whole body ached.

The emotions you have when you start this book are not the same ones you have by the last page. I let out a long sigh and a happy smile at the end – no matter the angst the author puts the couple (and you) through she always gives a great HEA... She's sneaky too making us think Byron St. James was more beast than man. Now dont get me wrong he was a beast in bed for sure but he was more bark than bite out of the bedroom.

I dont want to give a lot away but just know that if you dont like Byron St. James at the start just hang on for the ride along with Prudence and by the end you will be just as much in love with him as she is.

Well, I honestly don't know where to start.......

Pru is down right a loving, caring person and is sweet like sugar. She's grown up taking care of her dad and his gambling problem. She gave up everything from such young age to make sure he doesn't gamble everything away. Her dad latest gamble problem might just be a little too much this time.

Byron is jerk for one and two, he is a jerk. There. Happy?? He goes through women like nothing and that's it. Buh bye. Don't call me, I will call you in a million years. So guess what, fate hands him Pru as payment for her father's crazy debt. Byron finds himself drawn to this girl. You know, love at sight but instead of love, it's lust. By the way, he did not feel grossed out by having her in his home day in and day out. Odd ;) you say.

That's it. What?? You think I was going to tell you the rest of the book?? You're crazy ;). Read it. I love it and I'm pretty sure you will too. Muah!

ARC/R2R received for my honest review.

i always enjoy a jerk hero and byron was definitely an asshole jerk. it was good that the author kept him as pretty much an ass most of the way through instead of turning him into a sad remorseful sap with a personality change that isn't really believeable like some books tend to do. byron was brash but likable and as the book goes on we see different sides to him and his reasoning behind choices made. the heroine was good, she comes across strong and stood up for herself when she wanted to. i liked the gambling addiction aspect, nice change of pace story wise. there's a bdsm element that comes out at about 3/4 way through, skimmed a lot of those scenes tbh as they get so repetative and i am not really into it in my books mainly because of that reason. it was an okay read, felt a bit same old same old towards the end but it kept me interested. it's my first book by this author. i liked her writing and will be trying out her biker series soon. recommend this one to those who like a jerk hero or simply a steam up the pages read.

Still a favourite and worth a reread. a few timeline discrepancies - it really added up to about 2 months Prue was with Byron - but this is just me being picky.

2025 - Still one of my favourites by this author - love the chemistry between Prue and Byron.

Highly recommended.

Why did I miss this one?HOW???????. I've legit deprived myself of all the goodness that is Byron and Prudence.

I mean most of us bookwhore's gag over an asshole alpha right?. This story isn't your stereotypical romance story. It has that element of forbidden romance with a dash of down right crazy.

Byron in the beginning is a straight up asshole. BUT you can't help but love him even though your most definitely outraged at the shit he pulls. If you are hoping he miraculously changes into your night in shinning armour then then I hate to tell you that ain't going to happen sweets. He is the Devil in the deep blue sea. He will consume you whole and make no attempt to hide that fact. Blunt, abrasive and overwhelmingly alpha. Smart, calculating and impeccably observant. He is exactly whom he says he is, there is no bullshit veil or change in character. He's an enigma because despite his blunt honestly there is so many layers to this man you won't/ can't get enough.

Prudence, sweet Pru!!!!. I can't fault her character despite at times being frustrated with her. She grew up far to young taking on responsibilities that were never hers to take. She's loyal, compassionate, strong to the core and so damn sweet. She went in a little lost but found her way with the help of one blunt ass like alpha who had good intentions despite his actions. She's relatable, easy to connect to and so easy to love. I feel like she had great believable character growth without it fundamentally changing her being. She's perfectly flawed and willing to learn but also has a fire in her belly that let's roar on more than a few occasions. I do love me a fiesty lady.

The chemistry is out of this world. Like seriously holy shit!! One of the best in Jessica's massive collection of great books. They shouldn't make sense but they fit imperfectly perfect. The storyline itself progressed at a great pace without unnecessary drama used as a 'filler'. This story didn't need it! I couldn't inhale it fast enough. It's forbidden, infuriating, frustrating, sensual, suspenseful, funny and relatable. I love that Jessica always slips in those endearing loveable side characters that we instantly want more off. They seemlessly blend in to the story perfectly bring nothing but goodness to greatness.

I just can't. It caught me off guard and I'm pissed I left it so long but boy am I glad I dived in now. Again I'll reiterate that this is not a sweet romance ATALL. it will take you through the ringer but that ending seriously melted me into a steaming pile of goodness.

Safety Level: Not safe
Cliffhanger: No
Ending: HEA

This was my first Jessica Gadziala book. I read this some time last year because I saw it a lot on my newsfeed and the story made me curious. I didn't regret a single thing. I definitely loved this book. It's not as dark as the ones I'm used to, but the characters had a bit of depth and development throughout the book, which is way more than I've seen with many new authors I've tried.

See, here, everywhere I go, there's new authors popping up endlessly. There's tropes and fads in romance that produce dozens and dozens of the same types of stories from different authors. The books vary only in characters and setting and execution, but the plot is all the same. I've lived through the vampires, the doms, the billionaires, the bikers, the stepbrothers, whatever else actually became popular. And I've tried new authors as many times as I could. Lots of time, those gambles didn't work for me. But this gamble on Ms.. Gadziala did.

Maybe it was because I was on the right mindset when I read the book. Maybe there was something about the characters that made it easy for me to connect with them. Maybe it's because of the author's writing style. Whatever it was, this book definitely ended up being a five-star read for me. Yes, the hero is a jerk. Yes, he manipulated lots of things. Yes, he had the heroine at a disadvantage. But you know what I enjoyed, I enjoyed watching him fall. I enjoyed watching them develop feelings. I enjoyed reading about the explosive chemistry. I enjoyed seeing how they evolved from the first page until the ending. I got lost in the story, I didn't even think of finding faults anymore. After this book, I've been a constant fan of this author, and to this day, Debt is still my favorite from her.

Debt starts off with Prue and her dad Mack visiting Byron for a debt Mack owes. Mack is given two choices either his life or Prue to be Byron's until the debt is paid. Prue excepts right away because her dad is the only thing she has in her life. Right away we see Byron in not a good light. He's almost cruel to Prue a couple of times. I loved though that we do get Byron's POV on some parts. I totally dig that. He does have his dickish moments, but he brings out the woman Prue really is. He doesn't take BS, he doesn't suppress Prue, he enlightens a strength that she didn't know she had. I really loved Prue. I haven't found a heroine that this author has written that I have disliked. Maybe because they are so relatable. Sure some parts I can't relate too because it's just not me, but other moments I could relate. I really adored this book. I'm a sucker for Beauty and the Beast theme books and I believe that this qualifies under that theme. He is a beast, but he has a soft spot for Prue that was really rewarding to watch build into a lot more than he ever bargained for.

4 Sweet & Edgy Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh what a great fantastic read, I've stated that it's sweet & edgy and what I mean by that it's got a sweet element to it while still being a dark and twisty. This is a slow built relationship between Byron & Prue and he's great for Prue but in the beginning I didn't think that and I thought what an fucking asshole, but yet I still couldn't put it down. The sexcapades in this are steaming hot and so fell in love with Byron and his bossy arrogant ways. They did make me chuckle with the banter between them and Prues character was lovable and I was really rooting for her.

I loved how this was just as awesome if not more so than the other books I have read by Ms Gadziala and that it's my favorite!

It kept all the brilliance of her other books and added extra dimension. While you might think you have heard this story before, you haven't heard this one and it's so worth it! Bryon is one of the best Alpha-holes i have read right up there with my KA fav's Joe and Tate.

Highly recommend!!
