Going once...going twice...and the irresistible Anna Karenina goes to...

When Brett Montgomery is forced to attend a New Year's Eve charity event for his law firm, he is deliciously surprised to learn that the Irresistible Women in History Auction has been organized and hosted by the women he desired more than any other during his college years. Beautiful, sexy, and seemingly immune to his charms, Anna was the only woman to refuse him - but the only one he wanted to claim. Finding her again, posing as the alluring Anna Karenina, he wins her for the night. But that's not enough. They share many of the same passions in life and love, and Brett is determined that he'll have no other woman by his side.

Anna Cosgrove has spent her life helping others. She is a giver, a self-sacrificing champion of great and humanitarian causes. She’s pledged to help her best friend in his mayoral pursuits by posing as his fiancée and marrying him. In return, he’ll give her the greatest gift she could ever hope for before her time runs out. But when her old college crush attends her charity event to fight for her hand, and wins, she decides to give in to her own desires. For one night, she will be his. When the morning comes and she must say goodbye, she realizes that her one night of selfishness has cost more than she bargained for. Her heart.

The pieces are set. The stakes are high. There is more to lose than gain. Should they risk moving forward? Or leave their hearts and wishes behind in the place where they shared something magical, where they embraced A Night To Remember…

I was born and raised by deaf parents in the Metro-Detroit area along with four siblings. Growing up in a house full of children, there was never a dull moment! We all inherited the reading gene from our father, who is a voracious reader. And the reading gene continues strong in my own two sons. I'm happily married (second time is a charm) to a patient and loving man who always cheers me on from the side-line to pursue my dreams. What more can a girl want?

everything was going so well up until about 70%...then NOT SO WELL.

This started out as a sexy, very hot and sweet second chance romance. Brett and Anna took a ballroom dancing class together in college. They both wanted each other, Brett repeatedly asking Anna out, but Anna always refusing. She harbored a secret crush but was afraid to take the leap.
Years later, at an annual New Year's Eve gala, Brett and Anna once again get a chance to be together, this time Brett will do everything in his power to finally win over Anna. And Anna will finally give into the desire she's always wanted. One problem: Anna is to be engaged to her best friend and mayoral candidate, Jorge. Can she fulfill her dreams of being with Brett or stay true to a promise made in desperation?

So this sounds good right? A little implausible maybe, but good. I managed to overlook that implausibility until things became utterly ridiculous. Through a series of misunderstandings, Anna accuses Brett of some pretty horrible things. What ruined this book for me was the way in which she hurtled her accusations. Talk about looking for reasons to bury someone! Anna was completely irrational and rash. I'm not talking about a typical misunderstanding, no she was blatantly obtuse, it was as if the author was desperate to create 'drama'. To the point where I rolled my eyes so far in the back of my head I thought I was going blind. Poor Brett, having to deal with such bullshit and an obvious attempt to create a problem, or prove something just to ruin a perfectly good relationship.
Anyways, stuff happens and I was over all that annoyance...until Anna proves once again that she is a silly and stupid woman. Brett has pretty much resolved the issue but Anna let over 10 days go by without letting him know she'd forgiven him because Jorge said Brett probably needed space...WHAT?!
So Anna goes and prolongs yet another issue because she doesn't have a backbone. That just did it for me. Things wrapped up too easily, too perfectly and too quickly. I don't mean to rant but this was all just too much. I've read previous work by this author and really liked it, so I plan on reading other work by her. But this was just disappointing.

The author says "This is free from 12/8 - 12/12. It's a New Year's Eve holiday romance that is super steamy. So if you don't like your romance hot, don't download!"

So of course I grabbed it! ;)

I felt enchanted, like Cinderella at the ball, just reading this story. This novel was both sweet and funny. Matthews’ unique and at times off the wall premise was not only possible, but something that you can easily see happening. I thoroughly enjoyed the way that she works some difficult topics into this story, making you think about them without ever really focusing on them. Inner city life, cancer, child abuse, sexual orientation, among others, all make their way into this tale, making it all the more poignant.

I really enjoyed the complexity of characters in this story. No one is quite as they seem, and each is working towards a better world for those around them, regardless of the cost to themselves. Anna & Brett were fantastic. Their relationship was difficult yet inviting and unique. Jorge’s personality grated on my nerves at times, which is exactly how it should be. All the me, me me, I, I, I was so stereotypically politician and it also really made my heart go out to Brett.

As a whole, this was a very funny, sweet, and intriguing tale. I found myself enjoying it from beginning to end. This is a great romance for those looking for something a little different, while still keeping true to the genre.

I need to start this off by saying contemporary romances aren't my usual reading fare. I think this is the first one I've read in about 3 years. I'm more of a paranormal romance kind of girl.
I was lucky enough to read a sneak peak of the first chapter for A Night to Remember and when the author offered me a change to read it for a review, I jumped at it. And damn am I glad I did!
We start off with Anna and Brett meeting again after years apart. In college she had the hots for him along with every other woman. Intimidated, she never let him know how she felt. Brett had been infatuated with her since the beginning and saw his chance to get to know her. Unfortunately for the happy couple, Anna agreed to marry her best fried, Jorge, for a few different reasons.
I know a book will keep me interested when I start laughing my ass off within the first few pages. R.C. Matthews is quite witty and had me chuckling through most of the book.
And then the happy tears started. Yep, I'm a sap. I freely admit it. I won't say why as that would be a spoiler but when you get there, you'll know. :)

If you're in the mood to read something super sexy and alluring, this is the read to pick up.

It tells the story of Anna, she has agreed to help out a friend by posing as his fiancee and then later marry him, in return he will give her the greatest gift ever, before her time runs out.

That's the future that lies ahead, or so she thinks. By a wonderful twist of fate she ends up belonging to Brett, her college crush, well her body belongs to him for the night, her heart has always belonged to him, and she is not sure it will ever belong to another.

But she made a deal to help out her friend and she always sees deals through, so one night is all she will take from Brett , a night to remember that is!

But Brett has always wanted Anna and now that he has had her he won't let her go, he will fight till he has her by his side, forever But will Anna be convinced that she can let go and have more than one night to remember in the arms of her ultimate desire?

I really liked this read, both the main characters were fun to read and both had what I like to call the perfect balance of likable and " am going to dent this character's head" , because as much as I loved them both they did drive me to insanity during the read, but of course that is what books are about, they dish out a variety of emotions, torture the readers with little bits of hope and characters not doing what we want them to, and then bang it is all brought to a conclusion we never saw coming. This author did all this and more.

What truly amazed me what how the author managed to pack a story of many twists and turns into 202 pages, usually stories of the same type take up to 500 pages, yes you read it right, 500 pages which as intriguing as it sounds and believe me I don't shy away from long reads, but after around page 300 it usually starts getting on one's nerves, and all you want to do is shout "

Get to the end already do they get happy ever after or not?" . So I was utterly impressed with this author taking it all and giving me the full satisfaction in just 202 pages, and if you're thinking that because of this you might walk away thinking you missed a scene or a detail, fear not because we get all the gritty nitty deeds needed to form a perfect read.

I can't say more than what I have already said, for if I do I will completely destroy this read, and believe me you want to read this! I will add that the opening line of this read was a really nice attention catcher!

I am taking away a message of , if you fight hard enough you really can have it all, love is the strongest emotion in the world and if you find it, hold on and never let go.

4.5 Stars!

Brett and Anna shared a passionate crush that went unrealized during their college years, but when they meet back up years later, there is no denying the connection. It was supposed to be one night of passion, one night of wild abandon, one night to remember.

But it became so much more.

As they navigate the turbulent waters of politics and philanthropy, their prior commitments threaten to tear apart their newfound love. There is more than just their hearts to protect. There are secrets, scandals and the future of a city at stake. Are the risks worth the potential gain?

R.C. Matthews skillfully presents another tale of love and friendship in A Night to Remember, and pays tribute, beautifully, to her hometown of Detroit. A heroine like Anna deserves a champion of her own, and Brett is more than worthy. They, along with a loveable cast of characters, make for an engaging love story.

Check it out!

Another great story by R.C.Matthews. If you enjoy reading HOT, romantic stories you'll enjoy this book. Anna and Brett met while in college. They were dance partners in a waltz class, and she was a resident advisor that caught him with alcohol but didn't report him. She just dumped it. Fast forward a few years and Anna is working at a charity function and is up for auction. The money is going for a good cause, and Brett see's her. Her dance card is already filled but he finds someone who is willing to trade for his card in order to bid on her at auction. One night turns into mutual attraction. The only problem is that she has promised someone that she would marry him. Her best friend needs her to marry him in order to help him win the mayoral election. What will Brett think of that? There is so much more to this story. It's a quick read, and well worth picking up.

Anna and Brett were ballroom dancing partners in College.
They both had a crush on each other but nothing ever happened. Years later they meet during a charity auction and sparks fly.
They spend one sizzling hot night together and realise that they no longer want to be apart.

Brett and Anna havent seen each other since College. Brett was Anna's college crush but he was one of the most popular boys at College and she never took the step to find out if the feeling was mutual.

Rediscovering each other at the New Years Eve charity fundraiser Anna organises every year they discover their feelings are very muchly mutual and they spend the night together, a night to remember! Shame Anna's due to announce her engagement...

One night isn't enough, Brett decides and before he knows it he's pursuing Anna. All sorts of things get in the way, from politics to Anna's engagement. From a mayoral race to a lifetime of happiness race. Despite the life-hurdles Brett and Anna manage to get plenty of chances to make the pages burn and combust!

I loved the unique beginning, with the dancing and Brett desperately trying to find a way to be on Anna's dance card and I love the unique idea of the ladies dressing as famous women from the past. I found the regular point of view switch contributed toward the suspense of the story.

A Night to Remember races along while managing to pack so much in at the same time. There were so many emotions covered, I laughed and I cried. Both Anna's and Brett's personal stories are moving. Jorge, Anna's fiancee, is a main side character and his moment in the spotlight is very moving too.

Both Brett and Anna were very likeable people. Brett quite the lawyer and loves Anna with such a passion. Anna the charity darling of her town. She's the constant giver who definitely deserves her second dream in life (Brett being the first). The story flitted from this place to that place and worked fantastically with the fast pace. The cover draws you in and is a perfect depiction of the beginning of the story.

Overall I found this to be a read which was very enjoyable, and I'll mention it again, I was amazed how much was packed in. I cant really elaborate without giving anything away. A Night to Remember flowed nicely. The swapping of point of views added something extra and I am proud to support a new/indie author. I was honored to receive a copy of for my personal opinion.

This is the third R.C. Matthews books that I have read; Since I absolutely loved the other two books I couldn't wait to start reading this one. I was a little concerned once I saw the cover because it was so different from the others. However Ms. Matthews did not let me down. Like all of her books this is a combination of romance and humor. I love that the authors hero and heroine adore each other from the beginning and there are very few misunderstands between them. Any misunderstandings are cleared up immediately so there are no long-term problems from it.
The characters are so well written that I felt I personally knew each and every one of them. The situations are so perfectly set up that everything seemed very believable to me. Since the characters are obviously wealthy and had the ability to throw thousands of dollars around like pennies, I thought that would be difficult.
I loved Anna who was a strong determined woman who still managed to be feminine and sexy at the same time. Brett was the perfect hero. He was determined to get Anna no matter what how it affected his proud or masculinity. The heat between this couple was palpable!
The other thing I like about R.C. Matthews is that her books are reasonably priced on Kindle which is important to me. Especially since I plan to continue reading everyone of her books.

I really tried to get into this because it had the makings of a great story. It just didn't have enough follow through. From one scene to the next it was like the author would forget something she said and then it is mentioned again. Plus the hero and heroine were a bit too perfect for my taste. Plus I wonder how they thought this would work in this day and time, especially since they are all public figures. The old adage usually holds try: what goes on in the dark will come to the light.

Anna is practically a saint. A social worker who does a lot of charitable work. She is so good, too good, so it makes it hard for me to believe she would go along with the sham she and Jorge has going.

Brett, is on the fast track in his career. In his line of work you have to be shrewd, but I didn't get that from him when it pertains to some of the choices he made.

Jorge is Anna's best friend, but some of the time I felt like he used that to manipulate her and then he had the nerve to say the same of Brett. I thought that was a little of the pot calling the kettle black.

Ellen was the saving grace of this story. She was loyal to her friend, but also didn't sugarcoat things when they had a conversation.

Oh Wow! Having read a previous book by this author, I was expecting a good read, but I was still pleasantly surprised. Anna and Brett knew each other in college and had an attraction to each other they never acted on. They met again several years later by accident. They have an incredible first night together, but Anna has a secret - she is about to get engaged to another man in a marriage of convenience.
I was a little skeptical of the set up, it could have been a mess, but the author handles it very well. All of the characters are very likable and the conflict has an "edge of your seat" feel. My only complaint is strictly a personal preference thing in that the cart got put before the horse a little bit in the HEA. I guess you can call me old fashioned.

Read the complete review at a A Night to Remember

It is a typical contemporary romance with a bit of a unconventional love triangle happening in between. Anna is a social worker who organizes charity events. She is about to be engaged to her childhood best friend who is running for the Mayor. That is when she crosses path with Brett who happened to be her high school crush.

The story that unfolds threatens to test their belief in love, relationship and commitment. There are some secrets in Anna's life and Brett has to decide if he can accept them or not.

Talk about bad timing! Anna Cosgrove has agreed to marry her long time BFF Jorge so he'll have a better chance to win his mayoral campaign. Right before they announce their engagement, she runs into an old flame, Brett Mongtomery. She had a huge crush on him during their college years and it turns out the feeling was mutual. They have what she is sure is a one night stand after her charity event on New Year's Eve, but they both realize they want more. It was a great start to a story, but it got sort of silly with miscommunication, misunderstandings, campaign espionage, etc.

This was a great read. I loved Brett. He was strong and handsome, romantic. He was fantastic. Anna was sweet and a great friend. The whole story has some drama but it's just the right amount. It's not overbearing. This story has 2 people who knew each other in college and grew up. Finding each other again has it's ups and downs... but this was just a wonderful romantic read. Well worth it!
