3. Bernard Most’s charismatic dinosaur book allows children to explore through a pictorial narrative of a hungry T-Rex who loves the alphabet. From start to finish the books sequence the alphabet with whimsical rhythms using adjectives and verbs to describe how the T-Rex wants to consume each letter. The colorful illustrations in this book allow the audience to identify various objects and food that correspond with each letter presented. This eager T-Rex’s will allow the audience to interact as they search for relatable images that are amusing and playful for ages 3-7.

4. I found this book to be extremely engaging and I would absolutely use this book as an introductory lesson to letter identification. The educational content in this book is humorous and clever and students would enjoy finding disguised objects pronounced with each bold typed letter introduced (C is for carousel). For early learners, this would be a great tool to teach them their uppercase and lowercase letters along with practicing phonics to strengthen their recognition of sounds in the alphabet.

Dinosaur Themed Lessons

(Preschool-Kindergarten)
Dinosaur letter tracing: In a small group, children can practice tracing printed lowercase and uppercase letters with toys Dinosaurs. Each colored dinosaurs would correspond with a colorful letter. Children will enjoy matching colors and tracing letters in this playful activity that teaches letter recognition and formation.

(Kindergarten - 2nd)
Ice Cream Beginning Sounds Picture Sort: Since that hungry T-Rex loved to eat in this center activity children will sort pictures and add scoops to each ice cream cone that corresponds with a letter. For younger ages, this activity can focus on the isolation of beginning sounds. As children advance this lesson will guide understanding of syllables, blending and segmenting phonemes, along with coherence of letter sounds.

Follow the adventures of a T-Rex as he munches his way through the alphabet! Each page contains a short statement associating the featured letter with a word or words beginning with that letter. Some of these statements are likely to require explanations during a read-aloud given the advanced vocabulary used, such as "L was luscious" and "I was irresistible," and the statement "X reminded him of his Xercycle" seems somewhat of a stretch. Each drawing, executed in cheerful shades of primarily green, dark orange, and purple, is detailed and contains a number of items that begin with the featured letter, which is always present and slightly gnawed-upon. For example, the illustration for the letter A also contains apples, artichokes, acorns, avocados, airplanes on the T-Rex's overalls, and an ant. However, at times the items are difficult to identify, such as the skewers of yellow cubes and orange globes on the T page that the list of items to search for in the back of the book identifies as "toothpicks." The result is that reading this book can be much more time-consuming than the short text would seem to indicate if children search for and name the items, but the potential for this interaction makes this an excellent book not only to learn the shapes of the letters, but also to associate each letter with pictures of common items. Target audience: Ages 3-7

Books such as the one above always amuse me, they are filled with different words and adjectives that are used for each letter of the alphabet.

I have found that in reading this book to my son today, he enjoys the play on words. For example, delicious was used to describe the T-Rex eating spaghetti. My five year-old laughed because he couldn't understand why the T-Rex was wanting to eat the letter D instead of the spaghetti.

I also enjoy the fact that this short-story is wonderful for my one year-old. Not only are we teaching her the alphabet, but we are always teaching her new words. She might not be able to pick up the play on words as her brother does, but she is able to laugh and giggle as I make the different sounds with the different words.

Books such as these are wonderful to have. They are great for the entire family to enjoy, and everyone receives something beneficial.

This is a great book for Letters with a lot of vocabulary on each page, the vocabulary is different than the usual A is for Apple, and be is for the ball, This book is good to use for adding new different vocabulary to enhance Communication, Language, and Literacy for children. Illustrations are visually appealing; each page has a lot of pictures that start with the letter. Not so great for group readings, because the pictures are small.

Bright vibrant colors, bold alphabet letters, engaging book, students can identify letters and the different things that start with that letter. Interactive, fun, easy to follow, easy read, can be created into an activity of the different letters the T-rex ate. Teaches the correct order of the alphabet.

ABC T-Rex can support children in alphabet knowledge and recognition in letters. This book is very descriptive with each letter, such as A is appetizing. The illustrations provides more objects that start with the same letter on the page. For example, the letter E that are eggs and elephants on the page.

This book is a good book for learning the alphabet and also words that start with that letter. It uses pictures of common foods and items to help children identify them. I think this would be best for use for pre k age children. Some items in the book might need to be explained to the children (like carousel).

Like it's name implies, this book involves a T-Rex eating the alphabet. Each picture has a number of objects that begin with the letter of the alphabet the dinosaur is eating. On the last page is a list of extra things to find.

Bright and “fun” illustrations. This is a perfect tool for an alphabet learner. The author perfectly emphasizes the letters in the alphabet. A good lesson plan: Eating the Alphabet.
