Travis is running himself ragged. He’s trying to keep two jobs just to pay his rent. If he has to flirt with some creepy old women at the pub to get a little extra tip money then so be it. One day, he’ll have someone special waiting for him when he gets back home from work, or is that too much to ask? Right now isn’t the best of times to get a boyfriend anyway since Travis is going mad, but one day... Every so often, Travis gets the feeling of not being alone, and sometimes, he sees things. But he tries to stay positive; maybe there’s a strapping young fella waiting for him in the looney bin.

Larry's existence was dead boring until Travis moved in. Now he spends his time watching Travis, fantasising about touching him, kissing him... Their movie nights would be a bit cosier if Travis knew he was there, but sometimes, you have to settle for what you can get. As far as roommates go, Travis is the best Larry has ever had, and it isn’t Travis’s fault he can’t see Larry - no one has been able to since the day he died.

When Travis loses one of his jobs, both he and Larry fear for their future. Larry can’t imagine being without Travis, and Travis is desperate to find a way to pay his bills. While Travis searches for a solution to his money problems Larry has to decide if he’s willing to risk existence as he knows it for a chance of a better life.

On one level, this is a sweet story of two young men who are flung together through circumstances beyond their control. But of course it is much more than this because it is after all, Ofelia Grand. I was thinking of words to describe her writing so I googled off kilter, and it offered unbalanced, eccentric and unconventional. It is kind of classy creep that makes you wonder. Once I start one of her stories, I just can’t stop until I have been thoroughly scared shitless hahahaha... Sometimes though, the deadpan quality to her stories makes me laugh in a slightly nervous way as I wonder about that dungeon of hers.
Larry and Travis are equally lonely, spending their days alongside one another but never able to connect or meet, because this is forbidden by the fearsome but fascinating Queen Loraine. I swear I have met her once after drinking far too many penis Colada’s.

So they can never meet, except they do.
Larry goes against all the rules to save Travis, and in doing so re-sets the boundaries of his confinement. Love sets us free, even in regards to creatures of the nether regions and no I don’t mean what you’re thinking.
I love that they triumph against the odds, even odds such as these and now I can’t help wondering what they manage to get up to together...
It is a short piece, which nevertheless manages to bring to life a chilling world, which I for one would like to see again in other stories because it’s just so fab.
And look at Larry on the cover!!!
A magnificent, chilly tale of love in the face of THINGS. And please, don't google 'ghost in mirror' because doing so led me to a fear induced chocolate binge

Shit ..The End'
It was a captivating little story. Larry and Travis living in the same apartment. Travis doesn't know of Larry but got a feeling of it. Larry looking over and at Travis who is struggling to get enough money to just eat. Larry want to take care of Travis.
After doing something with Travis he should not have done, Larry get punished by shadow Queen Loraine. There are rules he didn't know about. Three days at Nothingness
Get lost with this story? Just read it..
It is an awesome short that should come out from the shadow into the light and eyes of readers.

Fantastic cover to this! I don't do paranormals too often but I made an exception for this somewhat offbeat shorty. I loved Larry (the guy on the cover) -- he's pretty funny with all of his hair combing, etc. -- but yet I also felt for his predicament. And it was so sweet how much he cared for Travis. I hope Ms Grand gives us more of their story!

I love me a ghost story. Of course, this being an Ofelia Gränd story, it wasn't at all what I was expecting.

Larry is dead gorgeous. Has been since cool 50s retro wasn't retro at all.

And he was some fabulous hair.

Travis is the struggling everyman. And I heart him. It's hard not to relate to him and root for him because life can be difficult, and when it rains it pours.

This is a short read, but we get a glimpse at world building that makes me suspect there is more to come. And if it does, it's going to be a bit terrifying and Larry and Travis will need all the luck they can get.

FAB read! Lovely cover model.

Oh, it's a fact, I'm in love with Ofelia Gränd's writing. She has the way to make you connect with her characters. And this story is beautiful, sad, touching and unexpected. I felt it was one of the best ghost stories I've read.
And then I saw the words "The End". It came out of nowhere. I don't just mean there's no HEA. The story just stops. Never mind any development of the relations between characters. Too many other unanswered questions. Too many things mentioned and never explained. It feels like the author started a novel and then got tired of it and decided to publish whatever part was finished. If there's a sequel, I'll run to read it! But so far - only three stars.

I really enjoyed this! :D It was a great story with hints of something more sinister lurking behind the scenes.

And I have to say, If I had to live with a ghost, one that looked like Larry would be pretty hot.

But my heart belongs to Travis. Everything about him called to me.

There is so much going on behind the scenes that is not explored. But I like that there is this other shadow world, it develops Larry more as a character, even if it doesn't play a very large role in THIS story. I have a feeling it could later. This feels like a series in the making, those first tentative steps, testing the water. I would love to read more about these two and about other shadows under the Queen's control and her horrible ministers. While this was not scary at all, the shadow world had the potential of being pretty frightening. Poor Larry and Travis!

Larry is a shadow (or ghost) bound to the flat his family use to reside at. He's in love with the tenant who's been sharing his quarters for the last two years. Travis is trying to make ends meet by holding down two jobs. When he loses one of them, Travis is besides himself. Larry doesn't want Travis to leave so takes matters into his own hands (well as far as any ghost can anyway).

This was a cute story. Larry's attraction and infatuation with Travis was delightful to read. His stalker-ish tendencies an endearing trait . It did feel weird when I first read it but from Larry's POV it was a source of entertainment and really showcased how stuck on Travis he was.

I really wished the story had been a bit longer just to go into more detail about Queen Loraine and the ministers.

And then what happened was some crazy mad scientist invented a time machine, fitted it to a 1949 Ford Mercury, and Larry and Travis went back to the moment when and everything was lovely. The end.

A review of this without spoilers would be nigh-on impossible, so I'm going with the above fantasy-almost-fanfic-dream-delusion and entitling it, tentatively, "Falling Through Again", in honour of whatever the sequel will be called.

This is an Ofelia Gränd love story. It's paranormal, not too grim, with two lovely young chaps in it, one of whom is...well, dead. But never mind. Love has a habit of prevailing in such situations.

If it's not clear by now, this is a fun story, but it does also touch on some of the everyday troubles we all know (alas) along the way.

Larry...He's one cool dude. Quiff, leather jacket, struts his ghostly stuff like a pro.

Travis...He's a lovely guy, deserving of a touch of shivery-spooky-ghostly-voyeur happiness in his downtrodden life.

And a personalised windscreen visor. Because a 1949 Ford Mercury isn't stylish enough, obviously.

He froze... there, in the foggy reflection of the bathroom mirror, was a man...

That's a paraphrased quote, but you get the idea; it's a story with a few creepy moments, some touching ones, a whole lot of intrigue, and also a bit that almost makes you hold your breath...

And then it goes 'The End', and you think 'What? It can't be! I want to know more about the lovely Travis, and why the Ice Queen had this hold on Larry when he didn't seem to have done anything to deserve it, and most of all, I want to know what happens next!'

Unfortunately, we shall have to wait for the sequel, which there will be. Definitely. Because there has to be. Because it's TOO SHORT!

Too short...

Too short...

*sigh*

I really really liked this, right up until the point where it just ends. No HFN, no HEA, nothing.

This was a different, unexpected and really good story.

It was so nice to read a story with a couple so different of what I’m used to. Larry was in such a heartbreaking situation, he was such a lovely character but I just couldn’t help to feel bad for him. Travis was nice but I felt like he was a little underdeveloped, I wanted to know him a little better. He also was in a sad situation. There was a feeling of melancholy in the story, perhaps that is why I found it so attractive. I really enjoy it.

It had a very interesting plot, I was very intrigued by Travis point of view, but I wanted to know a little more about the shadows and how the world work for them.

It started a little slow but was keep reading I was getting more involved in the story and I didn’t wanted to end. The las pages were so good, I loved it. I’m not sure what to think of the ending, but in general it was a very good.

****4 STARS***

This actually a pretty sweet tale considering it was such a short book. Still, I adored Travis, who was struggling but was determined and Larry, the ghost who would do anything for the man he loved. Larry and his hair...hahaha. The cover of the book fits him to a T. His love for Travis was so sweet that I went all "awwwww" all over the place.

There were some creepy moments with Larry being a ghost and stalkerish, but since this is just a book, it was cute. Haha. The Queen though. Grrr. I'd like to read about these 2 again. Possibly with even more pages?

I'm still kind of reeling from the 'The End' .

Unexpectedly cute, but also very creepy. (This is expected-- it's an Ofelia Gränd story)

Travis is utterly utterly down on luck. Larry is a pervy ghost whose only entertainment is watching Travis have fun in the shower.

I liked how straightforward the writing is and I loved both Larry and Travis.

Also I now have booked 'Rebel Without A Cause' at my library because Apparently Larry looks like James Dean and I've never seen a James Dean movie but now I want to see one.

I will now proceed to wait for a sequel.

3.5 stars...

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

First of all, a minute of appreciation for an absolutely gorgeous cover.

Ok, now on to the story. Falling Through revolves around Larry, a ghost (or a shadow as he refers to himself) who has been bound to the flat Travis currently lives in since the 50's (think James Dean) and Travis, just your everyday young man working two jobs and trying to make ends meet...unfortunately, not so successfully. Which is the central point - Larry figuring out how to help Travis stay in the apartment after losing one of his jobs...but this story is really much more.

What made this story for me is Larry, of course
...even though he's been trapped for decades in the same flat, his attitude hasn't changed much. He still has the same cockiness that boys his age (still) have and apparently no shame when it comes to Travis :) . Reading about his "relationship" with Travis (or rather the way he sees it), because yes, according to him there is a relationship even though Travis isn't exactly aware of it, was both charming and a little sad.... But, surprisingly, while reading Falling Through I was mostly amused or worried, but sad? Not so much...which is all Larry.

Now, this is the third (I think) book I'm reading from Ofelia Grand and if I know something is that she can be rather unconventional both story and end-wise, so I knew not to expect anything. But, even though I have nothing against non-traditional endings in romance, there is an unfinished quality to this story, especially after the way things played out at the very end. The conclusion Larry came to is life-altering for both Travis and him, you could say, and it simply begs the question "what now?"...Author wrote that she thinks about writing a sequel and I'm really, really hoping that this is not the last we'll be reading about L&T.

👻Imaginative and bittersweet🙁

I can't believe how unusual and imaginative Ofelia Grand's stories are, and done with such an economy of words.

Living, breathing Travis cohabitates with Larry the Ghost but is blissfully unaware until Larry takes it upon himself to help Travis. What follows reveals a ghost ready to risk his all and an unexpected outcome that was bittersweet. A sequel to this story would be great but I am satisfied that Larry reaps some small reward for his selfless sacrifice😊.

This is a different type of book. There is really not a live story to it. There is no hooking up. There is no happily ever after. It is a short story about being content I guess you could say.

Travis in my opinion is struggling to survive by working two jobs and still barely making ends meet. He has a ghost, Larry, that lives in his apartment but he is not aware of him until Larry tries to help him from losing one of his jobs which in turn will make him lose his apartment. Slowly he starts to see a little more of Larry as the days pass until Larry ends up saving him and in turn allows him to see Larry all the time.

This is a short story but I was left with more questions then answers as to where this book was supposed to be going. The book never answers the question as to what was going to happen to Larry since he interfered in Travis's life again. The question of what happened to Travis now that he lost his job was never answered. And the question as to what was going to happen between Larry and Travis was never answered. So I was kind of left wondering what happened.

I was a good short read but I think it could have been so much better if the author would have fallowed through with the story plots.
