This was such a blast from the past! I could still remember whereabouts in our primary school library this book was located but I had long since forgotten what this book and the entire series was called. I spent decades trying to find the name of this book until someone posted this on Reddit and I tracked down a copy right away. (Thank you a million times over whoever you are!)
It was these books and the choose your own adventure books that I loved growing up. I remembered some of the puzzles in this book, some I really had to think about to solve. The vivid colours in the artwork, and the puzzles left me with a full blown smile before the end of the book. This was just so much fun. It really turned back the years!
This silly puzzle book was one of my favorites as a kid. I checked this out from the library several times and re-did the puzzles over and over... ^_^ I gotta own this book someday.
This was part of a 3 volume collection I got to reread some of my favourite Usborne Puzzle Adventures from my childhood. I'm going to add each book as I read through them again. I would rec these books to anyone with children who like to solve puzzles :)
Had to revisit this after thinking about it on and off for years. It's hard to describe the magic and menace I felt as a kid reading this one. Practically every trope was new to me.
This book is pretty much the beta test for a great series that would follow. Several if uts puzzles are somewhat contrived and did not yet have the proper balance that future entries would achieve, so I would only recommend getting this one for historical purposes or as part of the Omnibus.
