Purr-fect Getaway

Rate this book
Not only is Cath heartbroken by Blake, she’s depleted and depressed from saving his life from demonic forces. Bea and Aunt Astrid “kidnap” her to go on a spa weekend outside of Wonder Falls, leaving the cats at home with Jake.

But the Muskox Spa is not the relaxing retreat they envisioned. Ghosts are the least of their worries, however. When two sisters are found dead at the spa, the police arrive, and another strange investigation begins for the Greenstone women.

Don't book me into any spas!

Purr-fect Getaway is the 5th book in the Wonderfalls Cats Mystery series by Harper Lin. It is the best one she has written in the series in my opinion. After the conclusion of the previous book, Cath is depressed, withdrawn, and miserable. Her aunt and cousin plan an intervention, and take her to a spa for a few days rest and relaxation. Someone didn't do their homework however, because it turns out the spa is teeming with supernatural activity of a very dark nature. Some good comes out of it as Bea and Aunt Astrid are able to evict the evil creature that has immersed itself in Cath's body. Once that is banished, she feels so much better and is able to resume dealing with supernatural problems along with her relatives. It is a long and scary process, but the three witches are able to triumph over evil eventually. Along the way Cath picks up a new admirer as well.

Ms Lin manages to create darkness and evil that surround Wonder Falls without making it too creepy for me to enjoy reading. She also makes one believe this could all be true! Kudos to her for the descriptions and images she creates in this book!

Definitely not a fluff piece! There are so many moments fraught with tension & danger for witches Cath, her cousin Bea, & Aunt Astrid. Cath is still dealing with the traumatic aftermath from her paranormal nightmare at Prestwick house in the last book. She is also trying to deal with her mixed emotions about Detective Blake Samberg. Hoping to help her heal, Aunt Astrid & Bea "kidnap" her for a relaxing spa weekend. Unfortunately this is not the relaxing weekend all thought it would be. There are murders & ugly nasty things that come out in the night to terrorize all. Harper Lin keeps up the tension & never lets the reader relax before having to deal with another fright. I found I was enthralled & on the edge of my seat at all times. And the ending, very well played! Can't wait for the next installment.

I received a copy of this book from the Author in exchange for my honest review. I really enjoyed this book and how it picked right up from the last books cliffhanger. I liked how Cath was "forced" into a mini-vacation by her family so she could no longer wallow in her depression. The whole plot was very spooky and suspenseful. I look forward to the next book and getting to know Cath's new love interest!

Since Purr-fect Getaway, book 5 had just come out and I managed to snag a very reasonable priced copy ($.99), I decided I should write up a more detailed review.

The book picks up from book 4, where the three witches are trying to recover from their ordeal in book 4 with Cath having seemingly suffered the most. Of course, this wouldn't be a paranormal book if the three of them didn't end up at a lovely spa that wasn't haunted. They figure out what was behind all the strange business, fix it and seem to have a good time while there. Cath spends most of the book healing herself from the events of book 4 as well as contemplating her relationship. Fortunately for her, she meets another potential boyfriend... but that's where the book ends. I'm really not fond of author's who leave readers hanging. I find it fine if author's want to having an arc through out the series, but please, complete the book. Your readers will love you for it!

I rate Purr-fect Getaway, book 5, a solid 4.5 Paws!

Bea and Aunt Astrid kidnap Cath and take her on vacation to a spa. Weird things are occurring here. Cath sees things. A murder occurs and our ladies must try to figure out why and how to help.

I do not want Bea and Aunt Astrid to plan a vacation for me. Cath's vacation was a vacation from hell. So much happens to her and at the resort. Once again they have to get involved to protect civilians. Jake is also affected but does not want to tell Bea. Cath does meet someone at the resort but I don't like him. Blake is a jerk but does try to redeem himself. I hope Cath gives him a chance to at least explain. I don't feel the two of them are done with each other yet and I don't trust her new guy.

The story was interesting. It was scary this time as Cath, Bea, and Aunt Astrid go deeper into witch mode to discover what is happening and who is responsible and why. What they discover is chilling.

I hope there is another book as I don't feel these ladies are done with us yet.

I received a free copy of the e-book through author's review-crew program. Thank you!

Picking up where the fourth one ended, Purr-fect Getaway continues the tradition of being thrilling and relaxing at the same time. Don't let the witty title fool you into thinking this is some whimsical little novel - although it has its funny moments, the book is, like the last one, considerably darker than the other sequels. Alongside magical mystical trouble, the book deals with very real problems such as depression.

I'm very much looking forward to the next one.

Each book in this series is better than the last. There is plenty edge-of-your-seat suspense that will keep you guessing what will happen next as these characters try to solve the mystery. I couldn't put the book down I do recommend this series be read in order, this book picks up where events in book 4 left off, you will get the full impact of the story this way as well as a better understanding of the characters. I'm looking forward to reading what happens next!

I love this series but I thought that this book was a little more dark than the others. The book takes place away from Wonder Falls and at a location which seems to have a lot of darkness. It is difficult for Cath to be there and even with Bea and Aunt Astrid present, she is in a dark place. As the story evolves, we see why Cath feels the way she does and all is resolved in the end. I am looking forward to all of them returning to Wonder Falls.

This series just keeps getting better and better. The girls are off for a three day vacation at the local spa. This vacation will definitely not be restful and relaxing. Ghosts, goblins, and spiders have become part of the attractions. Waiting for the next book.
I received an ARC of this book for the purpose of an unbiased review.

Fifth in the series. I'm not going to try to explain the background - see reviews of the previous books if you are interested.
Cath is very depressed, between being worn out from the last adventure and heartbroken that Blake refuses to accept that she saved him. So her aunt and cousin, Astrid and Bea, "kidnap" her for a trip to the Muskox Spa for relaxation and pampering. Of course, that will never happen. Two sisters visiting the spa are found dead, the police get involved, Cath is seeing things, and even Aunt Astrid is nearly overcome. The Greenstone witches look into the history of the spa and the land that it is on, and come up with a theory and a possible way to fix things, but it takes a lot of effort and danger before they manage it. Maybe they shouldn't have left their cats at home!
I thought this one was a bit over the top, even allowing for all the mystic elements. However it was still an good read, and I will be continuing with the series.

Cath hasn't recovered from the horrors of the Preswick House so Bea and Astrid decide to intervene. They "kidnap" Cath for a girls weekend at Musk Ox Salon and Spa, sounds wonderful, right? Except things there are not as tranquil as they seem and its not just the muckyness that Cath has with her. Lots of ghoulies, ghosties, and the death of two sisters. Can't these witches just catch a break? But with gifts from the Universe comes the responsibility to make right what you can.

Mysteries that live

I have read all the mysteries in this series so far. The characters are real and the cats actually have roles in the stories unlike some books with cats, they are more than scenery. In each story the trio of Greenstone witches fight bigger and scarier entities . These characters pull you in and are so likable , you wish you could meet them

Book 4 did not end well for Cath. Her feelings for Blake have been trumped by her nemesis. Hollowed out from her ordeal at the evil house in Prestwick, denial and depression are dogging her. Unable to sleep, she is also rebuffing offers of help from both Aunt Astrid and Bea.

So, she is kidnapped. In the kindest manner kidnapped. Bea and her aunt have booked a spa weekend for them at a popular retreat near to Wonder Falls. Massages, healing hot springs, vegetarian meals, smoothies available any time, what could go wrong? Ghosts. The Muskox Spa and Retreat Center has a long history, a history that includes spirits who have not passed over. Cath's, raw emotions are not helped at all when a spectral woman appears before her. Should she tell the others?

In spite of herself, she does begin to recover. When two guests are found murdered, she is almost ready to speak to Blake. Having a new delicious male interested has helped. But Blake? What is his story, and why is he refusing to thank her for saving his life? Apparently there is more going on at the Muskox Spa than mere ghosts. It will be up to the Greenstone women to face down one of the biggest threats they have ever met.

Book 5 continues to present engaging situations and caring characters. Lin is a fast writer, publishing this volume 90 days after book 4. One can hope that book 6 will appear as quickly.

Recommended for paranormal readers and for cat lovers of all ages.

This book started out in a way I didn’t like. I was really annoyed that I had to read about how sad and miserable Cath was because of all that happened before and of Blake dating Darla.
However, after a few chapters I was happy to see everything changing and

The rest of the story was actually so scary and captivating, the hotel was properly haunted and gave me the creeps! The mystery itself was not very complex, as usual, but I was so curious to see where it would lead.
The thing I like in cosy mysteries is kind of the background. I love the mysterious bit, but I love reading about what the characters do as well. Here, the part where Cath is much better and with her family eats and does all the treatments was so cute!

We get introduced to Tom as well! I had a feeling he would become a new love interest for Cath, even if I am sure Blake will be endgame eventually. However, here Blake

I also read this while I was away on holiday in the mountains and have such nice memories attached to it so I am glad this turned out great in the end.

This book continues where book 4 left off. After fighting one of the worse fights ever the ladies are due for some rest and relaxation. Aunt Astrid and Bea book a couple of days in a near by spa. Cath, hasn't been acting like herself for quite some time after what happened in the Prestwick house. So they close the cafe and kidnap Cath since she would just refuse to go and head for the spa. Little did these ladies know they would be fighting ghosts from way back, and curing Cath from her depression. Aunt Astrid gets 'in-tuned" too much with the past, can Bea and Cath bring her back? Can they solve the murders that happen every 6 years at the hotel? And who is this new love interest that has Cath all flustered? Read the book to find out the answers and more.
