Exploring Christianity: The Bible, Faith, and Life

Rate this book
In the last decade or so, people who had moved away from Christianity in search of more intellectually satisfying religious traditions have begun moving back to the Christian traditions of their youth. As they return to the church, they bring with them questions about the nature of the Christian faith, the nature of the Bible, and the meaning and value of Christian doctrine. Exploring Christianity is for these people, and for those who have been in the pews for some time, who want to establish faith and practices that are both vital and intellectually satisfying. James C. Howell writes for those who are approaching Christianity with an intellectual hunger. Based on sound scholarship, but written in very accessible language, Howell helps readers explore the Bible, the historical Jesus, the historical spread of Christianity, Christian doctrines and morality, as well as the ways in which Christians live together as Church and make a difference in the world.

Howell gives a very broad overview of the Christian faith (e.g., use of scripture, church history). However, no single aspect of Christianity is given a lot of attention.
