**I received an ebook copy in exchange for an honest review**
I legitimately waited months for this book. The Darkness Series is one of my favorite series to date. I love all things zombie related, and Kira took it to a whole new level with these books. And, as I expected, The Darkness Remains was just as amazing, if not more amazing, than the first two books in the series.
The Darkness Remains has all of my favorite characters from the first two books, like Phoenix and Cullen, but the majority of the book is focused on Ike. Which I loved. Ike always was one of my favorite characters. He’s a hard ass, a fighter, a go getter and exactly the kind of person I’d want to have on my side during a time of crisis (like the zombie apocalypse). At the same time, Ike is a sensitive individual, who is dedicated to those he cares about, has a lot of love to give, and a compassionate soul resting inside of him. In The Darkness Remains, the depth of Ike’s character comes out. Kira did an outstanding job with developing him and giving readers a chance to experience all of the different dimensions that encompass who he really is.
This book is filled with action, just like the first two. The scenes are well-written and descriptive, and Kira did a great job of making the story move along at a good pace. The plot itself is unique and I loved how I was hooked from the get go. I stayed on the edge of my seat the entire way through.
I’m not going to discuss the plot itself, because I don’t want to give any spoilers out, but I will say that there were some surprises, and Kira definitely got a few strong, emotional reactions out of me as a reader, both towards what was happening in the book and in response to some of the characters.
I can’t wait to see if Kira writes more for this series, and if she does, what she dreams up for these characters to encounter next.
Check this book out if you like action-packed, fast paced stories. Make sure you read the first two books in the series though, otherwise I don’t think you’ll make much sense out of this one.
The Darkness Remains gets the Wordaholic Must Read seal of approval.
I was provided a free copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review. The Darkness Remains by Kira Adams: Things have calmed down for Ike, Phoenix and Cullen… They’ve got a good rhythm, what could go wrong? Don’t ask. Adams bring another instalment to the Darkness Falls series and it is action packed. I like the last half, I wasn’t too crazy about the beginning half though. I felt it dragged a bit, that it was like info was kinda thrown at you just so you could be brought up to date. The last half though was a lot more natural. You found your way to conclusion and wondered about a few mysteries. (Not giving anything away… you gotta read this book to know any more than what is in the summary) I really enjoyed Adams’ first two books, and I won’t say that I was let down about this one, but it was just different. A little less physical action and more emotional action. Totally worth a read though.
I loved Kira's books. And her Darkness series is my favourite. Cullen *sigh*. I love him. I mean I love all characters. Haha.
This part is showing us further how world is being destroyed and swamped by zombies. And how people are being people and using the situation to their advantage. Looking for easy and mostly brutal ways to be on top. To wield the power. To rule.
Kira perfectly shows how ugly people can get and how greedy they are. But also what she shows that there are always people who will try to save the rest of the world. Cullen, Ike and Phoenix are like that. For them it's important to save as many as they can. They always fight. Always find strength for others. For themselves. Doesn't matter how many times a tragedy will strike them.
I cried, cursed. Hated and loved this book at the same time. I can't wait for the next book. I'm sure it's going to be as awesome as the rest of the series.
The third book in Kira Adams’ Darkness Falls Series, The Darkness Remains, picks up the story mid-action. Phoenix, one of the three protagonists of the series, is on a plane which has just crashed in the sea. She’s having trouble remembering anything - even who she is - and has no idea where they are.
The Darkness Falls Series is set during a zombie apocalypse that has happened as a result of biological warfare. The narration is first person, changing between the three protagonists in each chapter. This is mostly easy to follow as the narrator is named at the start of each chapter. The protagonists - Ike, Cullen and Phoenix - are attempting to survive this apocalypse and, where possible, save as many others as they can.
The Darkness Remains is an action-packed book. If nothing else is happening, characters will go off to kill a crowd of “biters” and, for the most part, something else is happening. The story covers quite a long time span, often with weeks passing between events, so the reader mostly gets the exciting bits. Ike, Cullen and Phoenix have a lot of challenges to overcome, both in the form of various antagonists and in their own personal lives, which develop further over the course of this book.
I found the ending of this book quite abrupt. Partially, this was because there is a preview of another book included at the end so I didn’t realise I was that close to the end. But also, in order to make the reader desperate to read the next book, it ends on a cliffhanger. This isn’t unusual, but it doesn’t feel like very much has been wrapped up. Reflecting the experiences of the characters, something happens very suddenly and then the book ends leaving the outcome of the event to be revealed in the next installment. But there are also loose ends from earlier in the book that haven’t been tied up and events that haven’t yet been explained.
It’s quite a gory book, but that’s what you’d expect from a zombie story. It’s pretty dark but there are moments of hope. Despite being confusing at times, it’s gripping throughout. It doesn’t really stand alone as a book, particularly with the ending, but as part of an exciting series it’s a good read.
I have been looking forward to this book's release since I was left wanting more from the previous book, Emerging from Darkness. Kira does not disappoint with this book. She was able to keep my attention to the story and urge myself to continue reading all the way through in one sitting.
The story picks up where it left off in Emerging from Darkness, Phoenix is still missing and no one in the White House knows where she is nor does she know. Although Phoenix is missing, she, Cullen, and Ike endure what needs to be done and are finally reunited through many changes of events. Not only Ike but Phoenix's bravery is truly shown in this story by how they are able to handle the events and new characters that are introduced in time. Phoenix and Cullen are still the strong double team that I continually cheered for throughout the story. Kira did throw me for a loop in regards to Ike and his newest partner-in-crime. I will not say anymore than that since I do not want to spoil anything.
The story is heavily focused on Ike and his development. We learn about his strengths, weaknesses, and his importance to the survivors living in the White House. The way Kira portrayed Ike's changes and actions in the story, showed a realistic view of how someone can handle traumatic experiences and any other experience. I grew to like Ike even more than I had before from the previous books in this series.
By the end of the book, I wanted to hop into the story and take a weapon and bash many characters over the head and even help other characters out. I am curious as to what the next book will entail and look forward to what Kira has in store for her readers.
There are many times in this book where I have compared scenes to the TV show The Walking Dead. This book has the dystopian, zombie theme to The Walking Dead with Kira's own spin as well as the romantic aspect too. If you enjoy watching The Walking Dead or just enjoy a good zombie novel, I do recommend this book to read.
This is a great follow up to Emerging from Darkness. It begins exactly where EFD left off. Instead where EFD was more focused on Cullen's story The Darkness Remains focuses on Ike's.
I enjoyed being in Ike's head at times but then at others I felt like I was going insane when he kept whining about the same things. I mean I get it. He's been through A LOT and after all that you're bound to suffer from some mental breakdown but sometimes it was just a little too much.
I also have a lot of questions and I'm still a little confused about some of what I read especially the ending. I know Kira done this on purpose to keep us hanging but I'm more confused.
Other than those two things I really did love The Darkness Remains. The story, although confusing at times, still flowed with ease and leaves the reader wanting to know more. Kira Adams has a lot of great potential and I see her going places. These books prove it along with all her others.
The Darkness Remains by Kira Adams starts off with a bang. This action packed thriller picks up right where the second book left off. Get ready for a heart pounding science fiction adventure.
"What if we can build a new world from the ground up? What if it all starts here?"
Ace Cullen has awoken to find his love Phoenix has disappeared from his arms in the night. He sets off to find her in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.
Phoenix has lost her memory, has no idea where she is, and cannot even remember anything about herself. She is in quite the predicament and has to find a way to survive with an entirely new threat than what she had previously encountered.
“I don’t know how to live without you,” he continues. “I don’t know who I am anymore without you.”
Ike stayed behind as Cullen went out to find his true love. He has set up a safe area at the White House and has become a leader.
I loved this book! It kept me on the edge of my seat with its fast paced action. There are some parts that were very graphic (which should be in a zombie apocalypse book). The characters were easy to get attached to and the love story kept me wanting more. This was the first book I have read by the author Kira Adams, but it definitely won't be the last!
I have been a huge fan of Kira Adams from the moment I started reading The Darkness Series.
This book is about Ike. I loved him in The Darkness Remains. This book is fast paced and will definitely keep you on your toes until the very end.. Brilliantly written and amazing storyline. 5 stars!!!!! Thank you Kira for letting me back into your world of the Darkness..
I'm so glad Kira Adams is back with another Darkness Falls book! The Darkness Remains is Book 3 in the series and mostly tells Ike's story. Phoenix and Ace are there too, getting into and out of trouble throughout. Lots of action! Kira brings it with this book! Can't wait for the next one!
I have to say that Kira Adams never disappoints. While I am not an absolute fan of post-apocalyptic novels, I love Kira's writing, and have followed her since her first book, and absolutely love her characters, and her writing style. The Darkness Remains was well written, a highly anticipated novel, and picked up where Emerging From the Darkness finished. There was so much that happened throughout this novel that it is hard to decide where to start, and where to end. It all happened quickly, and with a lot of depth, and thought put into each scene. There was absolutely a sense of thrill, and end of the world feeling - I mean, it's ZOMBIES!
Now, we've seen Ike before. And I love that Kira takes each of her characters - and I mean this for all of her series - and gives them their own story line with their own issues, their own depth, their own personality. They aren't just sub-characters, and don't just appear here and there throughout her novels. So, we see Phoenix, and Cullen again within the first few pages of this novel, and it's no shock that the trio is found not sure where they are, what they're doing, or how to get out of the sticky situation they are in. This is where Ike plays a large part throughout the novel because of his importance to Phoenix and the rest of the White House members.
Ike was a great character to have his own novel. I feel like as readers we all liked Ike to begin with for his sureness in what he does, and how he does it. He brings a sort of peace to the chaos that is the United States in this tiring, and trying period. Overall this was a great novel. I'm attempting to change my type of reviews instead of giving "book report" reviews, and sincerely hope that this helps any reader that is debating on reading Kira Adams' Darkness Falls Series. Definitely be sure to start with Into the Darkness as each novel does pick up where the other left off.
A glowing 4 Bars to Kira Adams on The Darkness Remains!
The Darkness Remains is a dystopian zombie apocalypse story, and book 3 in The Darkness series- by Kira Adams. This book has so much packed into the story- there is plenty of action, drama, suspense, mystery, adventure and romance. The story contains some very graphic, dark, violent and disturbing imagery in parts and really should only be read by adults from18 years of age and older. This book picks up from where ‘Emerging from the Darkness’ finishes. A virus has swept through the population and has infected most of the humans. This virus is the catalyst for the transformation into a Zombie like creature, called a “Biter”. Phoenix Blue has gone missing, along with the President of the United States and all the members of his staff. Cullen wakes to find her missing from his arms- and so begins a search for her- as well as looking for President Jackson and the other missing members of their small community of survivors. As this book begins, we are thrown into the turmoil of a plane crash. Screaming and the sounds of lapping waves penetrate the fog that Phoenix has been in. She wakes confused- not knowing where she is or why she is here. She soon realises that she is hanging upside down in a wreck of an aircraft, on an Island somewhere. The handful of other passengers and her soon discover that they are not alone on the Island. The other inhabitants seem quite hostile and pose a great danger to them all. Cullen and Ike discover that she was taken from Cullen’s bed by a guard and put onto Air Force One, to be flown to Fiji- the only remaining place that’s free from the effects of the virus. Cullen sets off to rescue her, while Ike remains behind to take care of running their small community. Will he get there in time? What else will they have to endure? This is not your run-of-the-mill Zombie Apocalypse story, I felt it had an individual flare and a uniqueness that’s all its own. Ms. Adams has produced a really well written story, with incredibly detailed and descriptive scene setting. Her style is bold and intense, with vivid imagery. She has the ability to not just hold your attention, but the power of her words transport you right into the story, where you’re experiencing every moment of it, right alongside the characters. The author also did a wonderful job of blending all the layers and forming all the various elements into a cohesive and smooth read. The story is fast paced and entirely gripping. There was no lag or drag. I read it easily in one sitting. The characters were really well developed, but still managed to gain even more character growth, as the story progressed. I really like their dynamic and unity. Phoenix and Cullen’s relationship continues to grow, while Ike learns quite a lot about himself though the course of this story. I am intrigued to find out what Ms. Adams has lined up for Phoenix, Cullen, Ike and their little community- in her next book.
The Darkness Remains (Darkness Falls Book 3) By: Kira Adams 5 out of 5 stars
The story The Darkness Remains (Darkness Falls Book 3) by Kira Adams is a Post-Apocalyptic/Adventure book. When Phoenix Blue, the President of the United States, and all of his staff go missing, Ace Cullen sets out to find them and save the love of his life. Ike Glass stays behind so he can lead the group inside the White House. He is counted on by Neveah and he will not let her down. Phoenix, Ace, and Ike have been through a lot since they met, however now they come to realize the real meaning of family as they fight to stay alive. They are well aware that even when there are flickers of hope, the darkness remains.
This is the third book in the Darkness Falls series and it is a wild ride of ups and downs. It is told from the POV of Phoenix, Ace, and Ike. You start with them searching for each other and from there you are taken on a journey to not only stay alive but to keep their lives from collapsing. In a world that seems to have gone mad, our hero’s all have responsibilities that cause them to feel such guilt and sometimes failure. These three main characters are all strong in will, have large hearts, and are relentlessly trying to make things better for not just themselves, but others who have survived in this new world. As you can imagine, even though the world has turned upside-down, romance and friendship are two things that have survived. I have always loved to read books and series of books that are set in a post-apocalyptic world and how we as humans will survive. I love that this book does show that things will be different and you have to adapt to your surroundings, however not giving up what it means to be human.
If you love an action story set in a post-apocalyptic world this is the book and series for you. There are scenes which are very disturbing, violence from what I would call zombies, they are called “biters” in the book, and adult language, situations. I would recommend for anyone 18 years or older.
Cullen wakes up to find Phoenix no longer curled up in his arms. The president, his wife and guards are also missing. No one knows what has h happened to all the people who are no longer present in the Whitehouse. Ike and Cullen check the security footage outs side his door and see Phoenix being carried out by one of the guards. Ike and Cullen find out the missing people are on their way to Fiji. This makes no sense to either of them. There is a virus back home and those who have been infected are known as the biters and some of those that are not affected have made the Whitehouse their new home. At present there are thirteen people living there.
Phoenix can hear blood curdling screams and her own blood is rushing other head. She tries again to get her seat belt undone and this time she manages to get it done then feels herself fall from the ceiling of the plane. She knows she has to get off this plane and get to land. Caesar is a young Hispanic in his mid twenties. Phoenix asks him if he knows where they are. He tells her they are on purse soil and the virus from back home has not made it here yet. She also finds out that the government has wiped her memory and being in Fiji was meant to have been a new start to life for them. She has many questions for Caesar but before she cans ask she hears a twig snap. Next thing she sees is Caesar falling to the ground after b being hit in the throat by a dart. She too has been immobile by a dart.
Phoenix hears chaos as she starts to come round and finds herself in cage. Looking round she sees the presidents’ head on a spear. She thinks that karma for what he has done. Her memory coming back she now knows who has been plaguing her mind and that’s Cullen. She hopes Cullen and Ike are in a better position than she is right now. Caesar is the next to be taken by these horrible strangers and she knows it could be her time very soon.
Cullen lands in Fiji and now all he wants is to find the love of his life and bring her home safely but will he get to her in time?
The Darkness Remains Kira Adams 4 star rating This story is a mixture of action, gore, and romance. Phoenix is brave, caring, strong and with Cullen next to her side they are unstoppable. With a zombie Apocalypse happening all around Ike has taken the lead to renew the world from the ground up in the White House. The book first starts off with Phoenix on an airplane not knowing how she got there with her memories erased and Cullen searching to save her in Fiji. They’re love cannot keep them away no matter what enemies they face. The President, his wife and every one missing soon turns into a gory mess. Ike was my favorite character of the book, with his heart being so big, wanting to be a leader and saving every one, he really showed his heart on his sleeve. His love for Neveah touched my heart. Trusting sometimes in the wrong people and beating himself up for his mistakes really showed who he was as a person. I loved how Ike really got to find his strengths even though he questions it a lot he kind of was the hero in the darkness. It seemed as if they could never catch a break in this book, I did not read the first 2 books but I could tell it was a long journey for them already. The loved ones they lost and the new ones they gained will really play on your heart strings. The author did a good job with details, in such I had a tummy ache from reading some of the gruesome scenes, I do like the way she switched the characters throughout the whole book, I love hearing from all sides of the story. At some points the book was kind of rushed and it kind of made me want to read faster to get to the next action scene but other than that I gave this book 4 stars. I will be reading the first 2 books so I can catch up on what had happened before this book. The ending was a little cut off , I needed a little more or a lot more because I will have to wait for the next book. Good job.
Oh man I couldn't wait for this book and to figure out what happened to Phoenix and if Cullen would figure it out. Luckily my questions were answered right away but with that being said how they were answered regarding her abduction had a hand in my rating as well as a few other things. I rated the first two books a solid 4 stars but this one I'm rating 3.5 and usually I bump a 3.5 star book to 4. But I needed to differentiate this one from the other two books. It still had many of the aspects I liked from the first two but it also had some really unbelievable aspects to it as well. And I know you're probably thinking what's believable about a zombie apocalypse but once you read the book you'll hopefully see what I mean. With Phoenix and where she starts out in this book before she makes it back to the group. My next thing is the fact that they can't seem to catch a break and I get it with no drama there would be no story. But hey I LOVE The Walking Dead but I feel the same way at times with the show. Like come on can't they just get ahead at some point!?! There was still enough of the story that I really enjoyed it.
The Darkness Remains by Kira Adams is a great title for this dark tale of survivors. This was a quick but intense read that had me biting my nails. Without giving anything away this is a story of finding the people you are willing to die for and protecting them at all cost, because at the end of things, those are the ones that will die for you too. We cannot survive this world alone and Kira makes their world even harder to face. This story started off fast paced and barely slowed down enough for you to catch your breath before the next big thing happened. This story focuses mainly on four people who are as close to family as you can get in this situation. Ike, the man that takes charge of everyone as if he has been doing it all along. People look him to for leadership and he tries with all his might to lead them but there are people out there ready to take him out. Francesca wants to fix the situation any way she can, whether its keeping people healthy or trying to find a way to end the problem. Phoenix is one tough chick. She knows just what to say when times are tough, but it isn’t just words, she really believes it. Last but not least is Cullen, right hand man to Ike and Phoenix’s other half if the bravest man I have seen in a long time. Together they hope to right was has been wronged and they hope to repair their world as best as possible. It’s hard to write this review without giving anything away because the discovery of the drama is what makes this so intriguing. This is a four-star read for me because it kept me enthralled and always wanting more. And believe me, you will not want this to end either.
Phoenix has awoken to the sounds of screams and lapping waves which confuses her because she went to sleep in Cullen’s arms. Slowly gathering her surroundings she realizes she is in an airplane seat upside down. Soon enough she realizes that it’s not just any plane but Air Force One. This brings about may more questions but soon enough the only thoughts she has are of pure survival when she is captured by an indigenous tribe.
Cullen awakens to Phoenix missing from his arms where she was sleeping the night before, and frantically starts searching through every room in The White House, Ike is trying to get it through his head that they are gone. President Jackson, Phoenix the president's detail all gone including Air Force One. But it has a tracker and Cullen is going to find her. He had taking flying lessons as a kid piloting a helicopter shouldn’t be that much different right? Soon enough he is in the air and headed to Fiji the one place untouched by the virus that caused the biters.
Ike has taken command of operations in the White House and their mini community trying to nurture and grow what they have but he may be getting too comfortable and letting the wrong people into camp.
I am now going to have to go and read the beginning of this series this book was amazing, and the White House now sounds like an amazing zombie survival plan. By keeping the story realistic it is very believable that something like this could in fact happen.
Phoenix, Cullen, and Ike have a hard way to go through this book. There are a few new people introduced to them and quite a few people they care about leave the story line as well. This book takes you through what it would be like to live through a zombie apocalypse. You get to see how they deal with the zombies and everyday tasks such as eating and bathing. Phoenix and Cullen continue to grow in their relationship even though there are a couple of things that seem like they are set up to tear this couple apart. We watch as they go through everything side by side no matter what the circumstances are and they always come out the other side stronger. Their love for each other grows daily and knowing that they are continuing down that loving path is an amazing feeling. Ike has a lot of changes being thrown his way, some are good while others are completely horrible and he wishes that he could change the way that they worked out. He goes through this story still showing his love and support for Phoenix and Cullen, but also trying to find out who he is and what path he needs to take. Creating a compound that is safe and livable isn’t always an easy thing to do and that becomes painfully apparent to Ike as this story line progresses in this book. Ms. Adams has done an amazing job with this book. If you are looking for something with some gore and some romance then take the time to read this book. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.
The Darkness Remains (Book 3: Darkness Falls Series) By Kira Adams
4 STAR REVIEW!
This is a well written, fast paced post-apocalyptic novel by Kira Adams. While this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend you read Book 1: Into the Darkness and Book 2: Emerging from Darkness. Especially if you are like me and this is the first “zombie” related book you read.
This book is full of action and will have your attention until the very last page. This book focuses its attention more on Ike and his time to lead the surviving group. while his longtime friend, Cullen goes off to rescue the love of his life, Phoenix, who had been kidnapped during the last book and is still missing.
The three of them have been through a lot and in order to survive they’ve had to rely and trust each other. But Ike is tired of burying people, tired of grieving and deeply believes that no matter how hard he fights to protect those he care about, someone always end up dying. After Cullen finally rescues Phoenix with the help of the President’s daughter, Francesca, the two of them along with their new friends return to the compound with a new plan Ike has developed. After the group suffers a devastation loss, Ike has been giving the chance to start a new life, a life he is not sure he’s ready for.
This was an amazing story but I deeply believe I would have enjoyed the book a thousand times more if I’ve the read Book 1 and 2 first (which is exactly what I’ll be doing next).
The Darkness Remains is Book Three in the Darkness Falls Series by Kira Adams. This series is of the paranormal variety revolving around a zombie apocalypse. I highly recommend reading the first two in the series before reading this novel. I gave this novel 4 out of 5 stars. The story is told from alternating POVs from the main characters: Ace Cullen, Ike Glass, and Phoenix Blue. These three characters have forged a family together while fighting over the last several years to save what’s left of humanity after a virus infected the population.
This novel starts out in the middle of action-Phoenix has been taken as well as the President of the United States and his staff. Ike and Ace must find them while fending for their lives against the “biters”. Ike feels the weight of the world on his shoulders as he tackles the role of leader in this story. Cullen lost his love when Phoenix was taken-how far will he go to get her back? Can Ike help rebuild a community for the survivors? This is a fast paced book with loads of action.
If you love a great action packed novel—this series is for you. Fighting for survival among the infected while finding love makes for a great storyline. This novel will have you on the edge of your seat for sure! Highly recommend for anyone who loves all things zombie. I am definitely reading the first two in the series to see how these amazingly strong characters came together.
What a great story! This is definitely not a standalone, however, I did not read the first two and I still love this story! I didn’t even realize there was more to the story until about half way through, I was just waiting for the missing parts to be explained…now I know that the missing parts are Book 1 and 2, Into the Darkness and Emerging from Darkness. I can hardly wait to get reading those! Ike, Cullen, Phoenix and Francesca are such strong characters. I can see why they have made it this far, unless of course they didn’t start out in the first books, but that doesn’t seem likely with the way Adams has written certain situations.
The story is about the survival of humans after a virus has turned the majority of the human population into “Biters” or humans that have lost their souls. These biters attack/feed/kill non-affected humans (it never is really stated in this book, but just that its either kill or be killed). It is up to Francesca to find a cure, which they have, using Phoenix’s blood. There are many twist and turns in this crazy adventure. Some you just never see coming. Adams’ writing kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading. I was never really sure what was going to happen... to any of the characters. And the basement scene! Wow! And just No!! 60!?! Just unbelievable!
I highly recommend starting with books 1 and 2 but to do so quickly as this book is waiting and it is quite a story!
The Darkness Remains by Kira Adams is book three in The Darkness Falls... This book starts off with so much action and when you think thats it!!! You read much more!!! Also this story has friendship and love! This story is about a group of people. When Phoenix is taken from Cullen, he will stop at nothing to find her. He will die trying until he finds her. When Cullen and Like look at the surveillance video of the White Hall and finds out who is behind taking Phoenix, It is someone they thought they knew and trusted. Ike hasn't had a home since the tree house so he will protect the remaining people at the White House! They can do good and help people because of all the space at the white house.. This book has a lot of twist and turns. So much action that it gets you thinking!!! Will Ile protect the remaining people or will it all end in Darkness!!!! You also get some laughs! Will they come out on top and finally have a "home" that's the biggest question??! If so how many people will survive? Men, women, children or will they all go into the Darkness??? Read this book and you will get all the answers!!!! You won't be disappointed in reading this book. The Darkness Remains mainly follows Ike but you get to read about so many others!!!! Make sure you go and read the first two books... I give this book4 Stars!!
The Darkness Remains by Kira Adams is the third book in the Darkness series and I feel it's is very important that you read the first two books before you read this one as this book picks up where the last one ends. This book continues with the story of the virus outbreak and Phoenix’s, Cullen’s and Ike’s story. When Phoenix goes missing right from Cullen’s arms he does everything he can to find her while Ike steps up as the leader to their group. When the world is falling apart around them they must fight for each other and their future. This group of friends soon realise that blood does not make you family but love and loyalty do and they will fight to protect their family. This book is very well written and flows well. The author does such a great job with her storytelling abilities that she has you sitting back and wondering what you would do and how you would react to a zombie apocalypse. This book is fast paced and will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. This book has everything you could want in a book: drama, action, mystery, suspense, romance, and adventure. This book and series in not like your average zombie book and definitely deserves a chance. This story is told in first person through multiple points of view. Due to adult language, violence and content I recommend readers be 18. I give this book 4 stars.
If you have not read the first two books in the Darkness Falls series, you will be completely lost at least for the beginning of the book. We find ourselves with Phoenix and Jose tied down, being used as human blood bags one at a time. Who is doing it and why? Who is President Jackson? What happens when Cullen searches for Phoenix? We find ourselves bouncing between at least three different points of view in this book. Makes the reading a bit more interesting, to see how Ike and the 12 others at his location are doing, how Phoenix and those at her location are doing, and then how Cullen is doing in his quest to find Phoenix. Where has Phoenix been taken, who was she taken with, and why? Can Cullen find and rescue Phoenix? Who does Phoenix run into in Fiji? What happens to the survivors? When we go back to the current residence of Ike and the others, what happens? When a large military-like contingent of people shows up outside, who are they, what do they want, and why are they there? This book leaves us with one heck of a cliff-hanger. Read all three so you'll know what is happening in this dark series.

This is the third instalment of the fantastic series of zombie goodness from Kira Adams. The story continues where the last book left off and continues with the rollercoaster, nail biting (biting ... he he) journeyed of Phoenix, Ike and Cullen. There is cannibals, trickery, deceit, mobs and zombies. It is now starting to get a little repetitive including a scene that sounded copy and pasted from a previous book with the names changed. The ending also was a little confusing as it seems to jump in time before ending so I was scratching my head. Even so I was still gripped by the story but worry the story has explored every avenue, I don't know where the author will go with it.. but of course I've thought that about the walking dead before and that always drags me back in so who knows. I can't wait to read more and continue on this tense exciting journey.
I love this book and series. If you have not read books 1 and 2, then I highly recommend reading them first so you understand what's going on.
This book is well written, smooth flowing and easy to read. The main characters Phoenix, Cullen and Ike were met in the first book. At the end of book 2, Phoenix is missing. Book 3 starts where Book 2 ended. The group is at the White House seeking safety and a way to produce the antiserum.
I don't want to post any spoilers so I will keep details to myself. Once I started the book I couldn't put it down. It kept me captivated from the first page through the last. This book is full of action and will keep you on your toes and begging for more. I can't wait for the next book to see what will happen next.
I highly recommend this book to those who love apocalypse books, action, mystery with some romance.
In accordance with similar warnings, let me preface this by saying this book will not be for everyone. It's dark (um ya the title sorta leads you to that...) it's emotional (well Kira Adams isn't all sunshine and rainbows) and it gets ugly. Even after the horrific events in books 1 and 2, I don't think I could have been prepared for this third book. Ike and Phoenix and Cullen oh my! Things get twisted, and creepy and you just never know who to trust until the last few chapters, and even then there are some surprises. If you like horror with strong characters, you will love the Darkness Falls Series! Phoenix is constantly put through the ringer and coming out on the other side, but this time might be her last stand. Grab the whole set on sale this week!
I am a huge fan of Kira's and have read every book she has released. They are all great, but this series is my favorite. I am so in love with the characters in this series, but Phoenix and Cullens relationship is my favorite.
If you love a good action story along with a good love story, this is the series for you! It's full of surprises and twists and is easy to follow, even with the point of view jumping through the three main characters. With the way it ends, I'm expecting a 4th and cannot wait for its release!
If you haven't checked out Kira's other books, I definitely recommend them.
This is the third book in the darkness falls series and as always Kira has outdone herself, I love this book. This book is Ike's book although there is obviously Phoenix and Cullen too. Phoenix is still missing, the book opens with her....... I had been waiting for this book, excited for it's release and as if often the case with a book by Kira Adams once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. Phoenix, Ike and Cullen all go through a lot before finally coming back together again. By the end.......THE END......WOW.....GRRRR.....ARRGG. Must read.
