"One thing I’ve learned is that no matter how perfect someone’s life may appear from the outside, everyone faces challenges and has their ups and downs."

This is from the introduction to Get It!, which I wholeheartedly agree with. I was set for some amazing tips that would help me to really get it, but I was sadly kind of disappointed. For all the good advice that could have happened, it was mostly vague and not really applicable. Sure, I'd love to be able to identify all emotions when they hit me. How do I do that? How do I distinguish between anxiety and irritation? Maybe everyone else gets it and I'm alone on my little island of what the heck. I just wanted a little more solid information instead of esoteric thoughts.

On the plus side, they did ask some good questions. One in particular is "What do I want the end result to be?" That's something I'll actually use and apply. I've never thought about that before, so it was a helpful tip.

All in all, it was decent, but not quite what I was hoping for. It was quick and easy...I'll give it that. I just don't feel any more 'it' than I did this morning.

Overall, this book is helpful in giving general advice. I think it would benefit teens better than older adults; some of the language is very simple, and as an adult, I find it somewhat offensive. For example, the authors tell us that we might experience emotions and feelings throughout the day. That is very silly. Of course, as an adult we know that that we have emotions instead this book should’ve been marketed for teens specially, younger teens, who have no clue about style fashion, physical fitness or make up and that they may want to self improve or define who they are as a person. Also, the authors would’ve done better if they emphasize only make up, hair, and fashion, that’s where their true passions reside.

I won this in a Goodreads giveaway. My opinion is just that...mine, and completely unbiased.

Anhhh.... Maybe it's my age (not afraid to say it, I'm 60), but I really didn't find anything in here to be beneficial to me. After so many years I know my body type and what jeans look best on me, how to apply make-up in well under 10 minutes (and without a stylist/make-up artist), what hairstyles are the easiest, and most certainly how to be organized and focused. While there is some information that will appeal to many, and it is one of those books you can pick-up and read just a bit here and there, it just wasn't for me.
