We meet Queen Dog as she is brought home with her new family and is treated with the love that only a puppy deserves. Life is exceptional and Queen dog truly rules the roost until the day Baby Catherine arrives. Now Queen Dog will have to teach her how to serve properly as well. But things don't seem to be going according to plan and Baby Catherine may have to leave. Can there be a way for every one to be happy? Lovingly illustrated with charm and humor, lovely book about learning that there is always plenty of love to go around.

Like many people these days a little dog steals the heart of her "parents" before a baby arrives to take all the attention away. What a fun little book that shows such a little dog who is introduced to the newest member of the family:a baby girl named Catherine. Catherine takes over the "Queendom" and Queen Dog is not really sure what to do about it until Catherine starts getting the presents Queen Dog believes should be hers. What is a canine monarch supposed to do. If you have a dog lover in your midst they will love this little picture book with a big tale. It may also be a great addition to wither a princess or dog story time for a group of children.

"Queen Dog" by Bridget Heos.
This book is cute and great for an older child about to get a sibling, even though the older sibling in this story is a dog. The story's moral is that even though you may not appreciate your younger sibling initially, you will grow to love them nonetheless. I enjoyed the illustrations, and the story was cute. The pictures were full of color and very modern. They also had some wonderful vocab words for younger children.

Cute story from a dog's point of view, who has been the reigning "queen" of the household. Until one day, until a new baby arrives and upsets the "queen's" daily life. Will the queen every become adjusted to having a new princess in her midst? Children will enjoy story and illustrations - parents will recognize the frenzied early months of a new baby.

You've probably read a book like this before: Dog runs the household until the new baby shows up, then dog has to adjust. The difference with this book is that both the dog and the baby are female. So if, like me, you have daughters, this might be your preferred version of this standard story. Also, I like the art.

In this twist on sibling rivalry, a spoiled pooch rules the roost until the new baby arrives and usurps the pup’s position as the center of attention. Pretentious diction makes the story more suitable for older readers. The font could be difficult to decipher for younger readers who are just learning their letters. Cute illustrations of the big-eyed pup and her people.

My PreK students loved hearing how this dog had to adapt to a baby in the house.

Queen Dog has always been the center of attention since she was a pup. When a baby comes into the picture, however, she has to learn to share her attention with a new person in the house. Will she learn to share?

A cute story that’s simple with bright, colorful illustrations. The text is engaging and easily complemented by the pictures. This book is perfect for young children who are preparing to have a young sibling come home or who just love dogs.

I like some things about this, but the illustrations left me flat. I loved the cover title with the dots over the o making dog look like a paw. I wonder if kids will love it? Probably not as much as Mustache Baby, our last year CCBA winner, but possibly. I'm not sure what didn't appeal to me about the illustrations, but possibly it is the colors, this may be one that will appeal much more when it is read aloud to kids.
