Craig Hibbets has decided that the only advantage to attending a wedding solo is the opportunity to snag a bridesmaid. So when he finds Shay Leland in the requisite yellow dress, wading in the surf, he offers her a no-strings-attached night... which turns into three days.
Shay’s everyday life is hanging-by-a-thread, and her fling with Craig was simply a vacation that she desperately needed. Her two young sons need her. The divas she designs costumes for are constantly needing her time. And she’s also dealing with not one, but two, weekend fathers for her boys. Sadly, neither man is very good at it. Most days she feels she’s keeping it all together with duct tape and hope. So she’s beyond surprised when her doorbell rings months later and there stands Craig.
Though they both miss what they had during their weekend fling, real life isn’t the fairy tale they knew. Shay has responsibilities and Craig has secrets and somehow he seems to think she’s a misplaced angel — which couldn’t be further from the truth. If they’re going to make it work, they’ll have to forgive themselves for their pasts. Can two fallen hearts find each other and make a new future?

The second of the Wilder books. Ok I really want a Wilder CD now.
Savannah Kade gives us another great one. This time I did not put the book down, I read it straight through. Who needs sleep?
A few years later and Wilder are a successful band. This book is darker, grittier than the first one. It still has a very satisfying romance, just our characters are angrier, sadder, have more disturbing pasts. It really makes for a page turner. Imperfect people in the end make for a perfect-for-each-other couple, and in a good way. I cheered for them every time they took a step in the right direction, and I wanted to swat them in the back of the head when they got stupid. Fortunately they figured it out.
Much quicker pace than book one. This was tragic, the lives both Craig and Shay have lived. His, more so because he had no choice. Truly heartbreaking. As much because he didn’t know how to love and lashed out in anger whenever he thought he was rejected. This was a great story. True character depth.
Enjoyed every page -ust like the first one--just finished #3 give it a 5 even though it was a little long - could have easily been split into 2 books. Have started #4 and unless it changes "tone", it will be hard to read. Overall the "Wilder" series is worth spending time reading.
A truly emotional story about a young mother of two young children and a band member. Their relationship goes through many trials and tribulations. How they handle it, brings tears to the readers eyes. You can’t help but get emotional involved. Looking for ward to book 3 in the series.
I liked Craig but not Shay so much. She was a pain. Also he should know that DNA doesn't pass on behavior to make you a bad person. That is learned. So it looked as if he wasn't very informed. So any kids will be just fine.
this is a story about a raw gritty romance. this book will take you on a emotional roller coaster if a ride. have the tissues at the ready cause you'll definitely need them through out the book. this author has an amazing way of creating her characters and well developed stories. this is the second book in the series. i cant wait to read more from this author in the future. highly recommended
This is a real, raw, gritty romance that’ll get you in ALL the feels!
A fantasy fling at a beach wedding seemed like the perfect escape from life’s troubles for Shay Lynn Leland, especially when a guy like hot up-and-coming musician Craig Hibbets makes the offer. But she didn’t expect he’d come looking for her in her real life.
Because her real life ain’t pretty. Twice divorced with two kids from each deadbeat dad, Shay’s real life focus is to earn enough money to get sole custody and build a better life for her boys. What guy his right mind would want that reality? Craig Hibbets is the guy who has it all – or at least it seems so on the outside. But his early education in the school of hard knocks, from foster care to living on the mean streets of LA, left him emotionally scarred and hollow. He wants to help Shay, but she’s a lot to take on and his heart can’t afford one more dashed hope. Can they find a way to trust one another, or will trying to bridge their fantasies with reality break them both?
Angsty romances with tortured characters (heroes especially) are my favorites. This one made me snot cry. It hurt, but it hurt so goooooood! Made the HEA so worthwhile. Totally recommend!
Bridesmaid Shay and wedding guest Craig think that they are just having a fling at their friend's destination wedding, but end up realizing that they have a lot more than chemistry in common. Not only is Shay a talented seamstress and costume designer, but it turns out that one of her jobs is sewing costumes for Craig's up and coming country band.
They also have a powerful emotional connection. A survivor of a difficult childhood and two marriages to men who went from Prince Charming to Abusive Beast, Shay is determined to do better for her two young sons. Craig is a successful musician now, but he too is a survivor--in his case, an endless stream of foster homes that ranged from tolerable to abusive, and teen years spent on the street.
Savannah Kade creates characters that may be broken or flawed, but they also have great heart, well-developed back stories, and it's super satisfying when they finally get together. Love this series!
This is the 3rd book I've read in this series (yes, I read out of order--this is book 2 but you can read each stand alone) and I am still eating up this series! Each Wilder story is complex and deeply emotional, the characters so real to me, that the hard-fought happy endings are incredibly satisfying. So often I can predict how romances are going to go, but not with Savannah Kade; she surprises me every time! Her books are so much more than just the romance—the characters really have to work hard--not just with each other but on themselves, too. So hard to pick a favorite, so I won't: I'll just say that I love, love, love this series!
